Garladors KOTW - Week 11 - Johnny Cage Discussion

Hmmm, who knows, after all this talk about Johnny's costumes and hair, maybe Garlador is going to pull one of his glorious edits from his magic hat and show off a fantastic design of Johnny featuring a new costume with his sexy MKDA hair.

Johnny's costume? His hair? ME?!

How's this?

It's just like a homemade Lasagna:
First and most important of all: the hair is perfect! Excellent job. Looks very stylish, sexy, and very MKDA.
That is definitely the look they should have gone for with Johnny. I still don't understand the particular hair-choice they gave him in MK9, it's not that fitting for him...but, thankfully, it looks NOTHING like the hair from the first official trailer. That was awful and super ugly.
Hair looks perfect and that's how Johnny should look in the next game. Another thing I liked about his hair in MKDA was that "golden" or "blonde" touch it had. It wasn't blonde like Sonya, but, it was like a golden brown which looked really great on him.
That chain looks pretty cool on him and the jacket is very cool (good job with those letters and symbol!).
It's a wonderful edit and I'd definitely take this costume over his suit-alternate.
That being said, I would have definitely gone for a sleeker looking jacket with a more stylish/fashionable touch instead of that "Karate teacher" look. Something that looks like a "super model" instead of "street fighter" (as in an actual person who happens to be a street fighter, not the game, lol).
Maybe even a vest that shows off his well toned body and arms? In this case, I feel that Sonya's shirtless-vest-idea would have fitted Johnny much better. He's sexy and he knows it, so, having him shirtless or wearing only a sexy vest or jacket would definitely look good and badass on him.
I would remove the white shirt or seriously cut it down making it a large V neck like shirt that would show off a big part of his chest.
That's sort of my take on him (in my minds eye). Think you can tackle this challenge?
Once again: fantastic job, Garlador!

No.
This is not necessarily the case or true. Great examples are: Mileena's costumes (which took inspiration from MKD), Ernac's costumes, both of Kitana's (as bad as they are they are not exactly a reflection of her classic look), both of Sonya's, Liu Kang's alternate, Scorpion's primary, Noob's primary, NIghtwolf's alt. Baraka's alt, Jax's alt, etc.

According to Cy Mandua, and I quote:
"The goal for the characters was to kreate a recognizable costume from the MK1/MK2/MK3 time frame, while updating and refining them to take advantage of this generation's hardware."
As far as I'm concerned, they failed at that. [Not surprising in the least.]
As for the alternate costumes:
"...These costumes are typically entirely new looks for the characters, offering insight into each character's personality and history."
And their alts shouldn't be similar to their classic looks, either. That's just a waste of a place for a better and more interesting costume.

Which is exactly my point.
