@ all the disappointed Mileena fans: Let's make like good fans and mail them dentures until they give us what we want. It worked for Fiona Apple fans(they mailed apples to her record label), so.... Yeah.

I know your kidding and all, maybe it's just me though, but to me she was always established as an Assassin from the get-go as opposed to something sexual. I only got introduced to Mileena the vampy seductress in 2004, 11 years after knowing her to be a kick ass warrior and downright scary bitch. To me she was always a warrior first and foremost, her sexuality is something still new to me that we've only really seen from her within the last 3 games (4 if you include Shaolin Monks).

First impressions last a lifetime. She could *and most likely will* continue to go down the road of making a harlot look conservative in regards to her fashion tastes, but she'll always stand out in my mind for being a vicious, brutal femme fatale as opposed to a sexual object.

It's just an awful pity new fans to game will never know her for being anything more than the tits and ass of the franchise with a fucked up mouth. At one point, she was known for being so much more than being a tacky, fucked up airhead. She was a lethal, deadly warrior with her own dark ambitions and inadequacies, a flawed woman fuelled by envy to corupt and destroy the purity and virtue that her otherwise perfect sister, Kitana, represented. At one point her story was more compelling than the entire Story Mode of MK9 alone.

What a terrible pity that she's become a blow up doll with Piranha features. And what an even bigger pity that so many fans will miss out on everything she was capable of becoming.

Any way, I loved Mileena in the new MK. Yes I agree her back story wasn't as deep as the original story arc. But it was a nice change of pace to see a completely insane female character. Also with Khan, Kitana and Sindel all dead, she's pretty much the ruler of Outworld. This could be a very interesting plot point in the next MK game. I wouldn't be shocked if she actually turns out to be a very good ruler. Let's not forget that she does have a queen's genes in her, they may very well come out. Also could add some comedy in the next game, seeing she would be a "child ruler", which history has always shown goes wrong.


On a side note, I'm glad the Baraka love/hate romance was dropped. If anything, I'd like to see a romance between Mileena and Reptile. The poor guy needs to have at least a little good luck after what he had done to him in the MK story mode.

Thinking about this new Mileena brings whole new questions for who she now is and what happens next.
How is her mental process for one?
- If Mileena's a few day old clone of Kitana, does she have at least parts of Kitana's mentality from an earlier age?
- If her body accelerated fast, maybe her mental process can to in the sequel?
What about all the other clones just like Mileena? There were some clones that looked completed or close to it.
- Does that mean there's other Mileenas running around? Unless the reason is they don't get life unless Shang Tsung completes them with sorcery.
- That's an interesting and maybe unnerving quality for Mileena that she could easily be replaced with one of those clones. Maybe said clone is more freakish with the arm blades if Mileena does get replaced.
Mileena with the right to Outworld.
- As immature as she's shown, how is all the dangerous Outworld citizens going to accept her? Baraka and maybe the whole Tarkatan have her back, but there's much more creatures than them. Outworld looks like it's heading into chaos.

So legit.

1) Unless she came with sai skills included, i say that less than a year but not a few days. Also the research could have taken years

2)Personally I think this Mileena has the same personality of the old one when she was young. Just that the other one has like 1000 years or something

3)Maybe the one that exactly like her is the second to last prototype and lacks X. Yeah to give them life they need Shang Sorcery

4)Considering that when the portal opens we only see a bunch of tarkatan I assume they are the most numerous. If she has the tarkatan and the mindless creatures of Khan on her side she has a good chance of keeping herself in throne. Still the most sure is that there will be a civil war too

Life has kept me very very busy these past few weeks, so, I've missed some really great threads and posts in MKO. I'll be catching up soon though.

For now, I will agree with the majority: New origin's of Mileena SUCKS....really really badly.

The terrible retcon of her story, Kitana's, and relation with Shao Kahn was flushed down the toilet in such a disgusting way that my jaw actually drops at how badly they ruined most of the best things of these 3 characters.

Anyway, because I've got a lot of catching up to do, I'll keep it straight to the point:

The good:

1) MIleena's voice and attitude:

I'm not against her fantastic voice actress and her superb sexual child-like psycho attitude. She was portrayed nicely and her "Joker personality" has potential. Her background, origins, and potential future is what I despise.

2) Head bite Fatality:

Wonderfully and one of the best reveals of MK. Highly acclaimed by fans and viewers.

3) Quotes, Intro, Round win/lose, Victory, and gamplay animations:

Superb. She's interesting to watch, has some of the best animations, and her quotes are some of the most memorable.

4) Fun (though tough) gameplay and nice set of new specials:

About time they gave her new special moves! They were not enough, imo, but, it was nicely done.

The bad: Everything else, specially:

1) The Storymode bullshit:

- Ruined by a completely stupid annoying lame unnecessary idiotic disgusting retcon.

- Surprisingly unimportant considering her huge promotion.

2) Those stupid eyes...she looks nothing like Kitana!!!!

Yellow....freaking yellow. Ugh. I can accept the short hair, the purple outfit, and the lovely teeth, but, Mileena is no longer a glorious "clone"...no longer Kitana's "twin".....her overall design is so different that the stupid characters who confused her for Kitana in story mode made that part of the story feel stupid and almost made me roll my eyes.

Even the freaking skin color and nose are totally different. Ironically, there's no fucking uniqueness to her character anymore.

3) Costumes did NOT leave up to the MKD primary expectations:

Sure, we all know and understand this is based during MK1-MK3, but, most of us had very high expectations for Mileena. Her overall design is very weak when compared to her MKD costumes. Very.

4) Stole Kira's Fatality:

She's MILEENA!!!!! Is that seriously the best and most original thing they can come up with for this psychotic badass chicK?

Overall Feelings:

Mileena is still one of my favorite characters. Even though I feel completely disappointed and betrayed by the horrible retcon, I have hopes that she will grow to become what she was in MKD for MK10.

Here's hoping that she becomes the new Empress of Outworld (but Sindel better return!).

To remain on topic, Mileena has always been my favorite character since MK2, I love everything about her!

If they had to barrow a fatality they should have used Havik's( the one where he eats their arms off). Atleast have her be the only character who will devour her opponent.

I must be the only person that actually thinks Mileena's retcon isn't the end of the world. Largely because Mileena's psychopathic, violent, chaotic, yet whimsical tendencies:

While I have little faith that NRS actually gives a shit enough to develop Retcon-Mileena beyond "lackey status", she could easily continue o be portrayed as a maniacal vixen bent on public puppy slaying and other random acts of violence. Perhaps even finding a friend in Havik and Chaosrealm. Or perhaps a Vendetta with Kitana? Whatever.

Oh and one other thing, could someone kindly walk into Razor's cave and poke him with a stick to explain where this perception that pre-Retcon Mileena was this tragic character comes from? It's not that I don't believe it but it just feels grossly over-exagerated to me.

I'll focus on these two, specifically because I have some issues with people bringing these up and it stems from people trying to take the old timeline and somehow retro fit it into the new one.

Mileena isn't supposed to be a "clone" of Kitana in the same traditional sense as she was in MK2. Shang Tsung used kitana's blood, mixed it with some tarkatan DNA and magic and birthed Mileena. And for what purpose? Not to pass off as Kitana's sister, but to be her replacement. So if she's not ment to be passed off as Kitana's mirror image, why would she need to look like her to begin with?

As for her fatalities, giving her Kira's fatality isn't the worst thing they could've done, in fact most of her old fatalities were fucking terrible to start with. Why would she down a bottle of tacks and then spit them at the opponent Looney Toons style for example?

How is she supposed to have a vendetta if all the character development she had with Kitana is nixed?

Kitana and Mileena literally meet in the MK2 section now. Their thousand year history together, fighting alongside each other while hate slowly festered is GONE. What purpose does mileena have to hold a grudge, beyond "she beat me up"?

A lot of the backstory between them, that makes some see Mileena as a "tragic" figure is very much subtext, implied or frankly non-canonical (the Malibu comics heavily influenced it... the moment Mileena finds out Kahn doesn't really love her and she sheds a tear. Loved it).
You've got to remember, MK1-4 days had a beyond limited means of storytelling, so filling in the gaps was quite standard...

It's "end of the world" for myself and others because, like Sub-Zero, Mileena had some of the greatest nuances to her character. She had sooo much (potential) backstory that I always wanted to see a Shaolin Monks style side game with her, Kitana and Jade. She was so capable and dangerous, but at the same time pathetic... vicious and vile but still had some motivations that were grounded in reality.

In terms of her visual depiction or characterization, she was done fairly okay in MK9. Her intro? Her win pose? Her primary fatality? Amazing! The voice actress was superb... But by taking away that story, that starting point for her character to evolve.... what the heck is she supposed to do?

The only thing anyone's been able to rationally suggest is that she becomes leader of Outworld... but the way her character is from this retcon... how on earth could she possibly, legitimately be seen as a queen by the other characters? If this was Deception era Mileena, we'd believe it in a second...

But this Mileena? I don't buy it.
