Clearly a lot of folks are upset with the way the Kollector's Edition was handled by Prima Games Strategy Guides. This guy being one of them:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQ40YT4c5Ik&feature;=youtu.be

Anyway, that's besides the point. I was the primary contact with Prima while working with another MK site and getting the green-light for getting things started for contests and whatnot. I had asked for an interview (One that probably would have helped a lot of folks decide whether they wanted the guide or not) and it wasn't granted.

I, like most of you picked up the KE guide, expecting great things, however - The character History and Fatality Gallery drew my interest most, as I'm sure it did most of you. Now, I don't need to tell you guys about the uproar that's going on.

On Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#!/PrimaGames
On Prima's Update Blog: http://www.primagames.com/blog/2011/04/19/mkcards/

76 Comments from Angry customers, demanding refunds. That doesn't even count Facebook and the emails.

Initially, Prima proposed to give anyone who sent a photo of their receipt to them via Email a code for an E-guide with updated cards that YOU, the consumer could print out. A lot of people didn't like that idea.

I got in contact with John Marcotte, the Marketing Manager who I was in talks with prior to the game releasing about the guide and its details. Today, he sent me an official statement that I could release to MK sites concerning the omission of the Character History Section:

“It was always our intention to include the character evolution and Fatality gallery in our Kollector's Edition guide, late in the guide process the team was unable to supply us with this information and we unfortunately neglected to remove this information from a few websites. .” Prima Games, Social Marketing Manager

So, now this falls back on NRS and their follow-through. Prima is in a hole, and a lot of customers are on the line. I'm talking hundreds of dollars here, because I haven't talked to a single person who was happy about this guide.

So, discuss - What would YOU want done? Because right now things are being done - and there's a big possibility that they can rectify the situation.

Excuses, excuses. NRS isn't to blame for the massive amounts of typos in the movelists (look at Liu Kang's combos if you don't believe me), Prima is.

Here's what I want:

I want them to right their wrongs in the KE guide, and ship me a new copy with the updates, free of charge. Sadly, their guides have been complete shit since the days of the PS1.

I'm not asking for a refund. I'm asking for what I paid for.

That's what a lot of folks are asking for, but like I stated - the E guide thing is their solution for right now.

Yeah but that fucks over the ones who don't have the receipt anymore. I think they should make additional booklets of the stuff they left out and ship them to Gamestop. Then by bringing in your copy of the book and giving your account info should get it for free. This will never happen but hey I can dream
I don't care about the typos since I never bought the guide so I could learn how to play. I'll learn how to do stuff on my own with practice. I bought the guide for the character art, and other art stuff. It's a pain in the ass that there are typos for people actually looking for a strategy guide, and Prima seems to suck at double, triple, and quadruple checking their shit. Maybe if they didn't want the guide to look amazing, and have a ton go content, they could just check the important stuff like combos, and make sure they're for the correct character.

They should offer to mail us new cards with complete and correct info including all finishers, and the the character evolutions & fatality galleries.

I just noticed last night Shang Tsung's card had incorrect move inputs.

Ground Skull (Close) Down, Up, 3
Ground Skull (Medium) Down, Back, 3
Ground Skull (Far) Down, Forward, 3

The last input for all of those moves should be 4. Not 3. (A for 360 and O for PS3).

People still buy game guides for the info? I just buy them for the artwork. That's all most of them are good for anyway.

Ideally, I'd ask for them to go back, revise the entire thing, fix their mistakes, include their promised content, and send people revised editions of the content they thought they were buying in the first place.

Baring that, sure, make all that promised content available online to those that have the guide (maybe enter a code or something).

Baring THAT, suck it up and offer to refund the money of the unsatisfied purchasers.

Yeah I mostly bought the guide because it looked like a cool collector's item. And it is. Plus the reference cards are really nice.

Still, some of these typos are inexcusable

I'm not really upset with the move typos because WE HAVE A FREAKING MOVELIST in the game itself. I do have a problem with the countless other typos though; it's just severely unprofessional and not something I would expect to see in a $30 collector's edition game guide.

I am however very upset over the whole "character evolution/fatality" thing though....that was one of my primary reasons for buying the KE guide and when I saw it wasn't there, I was very confused. This is the first I've heard about it actually not being included; I thought they just false advertised and were actually referring to the character cards. I'm a little relieved to know I'm not the only one who didn't get these things though.

As to how they can rectify the situation, I would be happy with them simply shipping out the character evolution/fatality thing separately...I don't need a whole new guide, though I can see why people would want the typos fixed too...

See this is weird because I've gone through all my cards and book and it matches everything that's on the move list in the game.

some day, 2000 years down the road, I will have a sealed version with typos... Thats a kollectors item. Now I just have to live 2000 years to cash in on it.

I purchased it just to have it, but If I can get a free future guide as compensation, I will pretend to be outraged.

I think the perfect solution is that they reprint the guides CORRECTLY and release them and poeple who bought the old guide can swap it out for a brand new fixed guide...atleast i would be satisfied

What m0s3pH said. That's pretty much the only acceptable remedy. Blaming their carelessness on NRS is really childish...and also does not clear them of guilt. This is their issue and they need to fix it.

Just one question to those who have it:

How MASSIVE is the MASSIVE concept art section? Number of pages and datails... if even this is s**t I'm cancelling it from amazon before they send it to me as soon as I can...

That's completely false. I have the KE strategy guide. i haven't spent much time looking through it, but the obvious type I've noticed so far is Noob's stage fatality. It's listed as down, toward back + 3 in the guide. When it's actually toward, down, toward + block.

To be honest I wasn't even aware of what was supposed to come with the KE version of the guide. I expected an art gallery, but the artwork in the guide is scant compared to what comes with the KE game art book, and usually it's the other way around.

Cancel the order. Better you keep your money. This guide is not worth it.

I have a question, is the normal guide also messed up or is it the KE only?
I also pre-ordered the KE Guide from amazon.co.uk but still dont have it, they delayed it by about 2 weeks. Anyone knows why? i mean will they fix the faults and the wrong move lists in the guides or only the extra card you get?

can anyone please answer this, because if they wont i will probably cancel my order.

The guide you're getting is probably the one others have. Both guides have the incorrect inputs and missing sections.

They still haven't announced what it is they're planning to do.

I'm hoping they time it with the DLC release and re-release something with all the stuff they said would be in it along with DLC info.

It's garbage. Maybe 3-5 pages tops. It's probably the most disappointing thing about the guide IMO!

Ahhh shit my bad.......I honestly just skimmed through the book at the main parts, but from what I can tell the cards are still correct...I can't tell fully because I'm in town eating.
