It is real, that's for sure. I've done it before myself, but only ONCE. And it was on accident. It doesn't HAVE to be a uppercut to make Dan pop out. I think it's any hit really that sends the opponent flying high.

I know I've gotten it with Kabla's launcher combo where he uses his hooks (Forward+1, 1, 2 I think). I've also seen my roommate get it with Sindel after her move where she stands on her hands and kicks upwards with both feet.

I know I read before that you have to land a hit after you see Dan pop up, but I thought it had to be in a combo (before they hit the ground). But in this video, he does the jump in + uppercut, then just goes in and get off another uppercut, and it gave him the boost.

Possibly you just have to land a hit after the Toasty, before the opponent hits you? Still not exactly sure how it works...

it may depend on what two characters you are using. Try doing it again with kabal and stryker

What exactly triggers toasty because I've seen him pop out mid combo?

My theory is that it happens randomly on any hit that sends the opponent high in the air (like an uppercut or launcher). As I mentioned in my previous post, I've seen Dan pop out and say Toasty on uppercuts, as well as Kabal's combo that uses the hooks and launches the opponent, and Sindel's handstand attack that launches the opponent in the air.

That part I'm fairly sure of. But how to activate the "Toasty Boost" I'm not totally sure of. I think it is either hitting the opponent again before they hit the ground (after he pops out and says Toasty) - or possibly landing ANOTHER high launching attack (like an uppercut, launcher, ect) immediately after the Toasty, before you are hit. That is my theory.

I haven't attempted to test it at all though. Like I said, I've only done it once, and on accident. And sadly, I already had a full bar...

Yea i think your right because he popped out in sindels combo as well. The boost ive gotten it but wasnt paying attention so your guess is as good as mine.

It happened to me once as well. I was Sindel fighting Noob on the Hell stage. But it was weird because it popped up right after I did the stage fatality. I wondered what that was but didnt give it much thought afterwards.

The one thing that saddens me is how much less toasty appears. i was playing MK1 and 2 on my ZSNES and i was recording. i saw toasty a total of 23 times in one hour of gameplay (i switched when i got bored of one)

yet today, in 2 hours, he only came out once, with his toast and butter shirt... i miss him coming out especially in UMK 3 when he said "FROSTY!" at danger health level...

I actually prefer it that he doesn't appear as much. I guess he appears very rarely, in this game, but, having him pop in kind of "messes" with my experience with the game. I love the nod to the fans and what he is supposed to represent, so, I'm definitely super excited that he is back, but, I also like it that he is kept at a minimum. I think it was nicely balanced.

Well toasty is caused by an uppercut of kung laos whirlwind popup same as in MK2. Kang did an uppercut which made Dan forden pop on the screen but then he lands another uppercut during the toasty!

It could be landing ANY hit during toasty gives you the boost or landing another uppercut can give the boost possibly.
