Just got the latest "issue" of EGMi (the online version of EGM), and as a preview for the next hard copy issue (239), they showed a few screencaps of upcoming games. The first picture they showed was of Sektor from the upcoming MK. Sure, we've already seen him... however, the background doesn't look immediately familiar:

It's a bit difficult to tell, but the stained glass dragon seems to hint at it being The Church from MK3. It also implies the the next hard copy issue of EGM will reveal more than what we saw at E3.

Btw, I know we're not allowed to show magazine scans, but I wasn't sure what the "etiquette" was for copying one tiny picture in an ONLINE magazine and blowing it up to a much bigger size.

Indeed, could very well be the Church from MK3. I recognize the candles, the steps, and it looks like an altar behind Sektor.
I also see something green close to Sektor's front foot. Makes me wonder if it's partially outside.

I don't mind the scans ;). We don't have EGM over here, so it's welcome to me :) EDIT: looking at the image again, the green in the corner could be Reptile's blood... :)

Was the church stage as iconic as the stages we seen so far?

Awesome. That is most definitely the Church. I am hoping though we get to see more characters than the 8 we are already familiar with. Kinda already sick of Sektor. I think the Robots are gay.

Our scan policy has nothing to do with "etiquette", it has to do with real legal copyright. I don't really know where this particular image stands in the grand scheme of things, I'll have to check around and find out.

For scans... keep in mind why it's important and generally illegal. One person buys the magazine and scans it, then allowing thousands to see it for free. This greatly cuts into the profits for the magazine, since very few people who see what they want will be going out to spend their money. You all need to keep in mind EGM is the very magazine that threatened legal action against us once. This was a very long time ago at this point, but it still happened.

Anyway, I'll leave this up for the time being until I can get some better information on how to approach it.

Looks like the church from MK3 to me.

If The Church is in, then hopefully The Graveyard will be in too.

Nothing else MK-related, aside from the aforementioned photo with Ed Boon and the Raiden version of the next EGM cover, which we already saw during E3.

I know why it's illegal to show magazine scans, but that's why I said I wasn't sure how it would relate in regards to online magazines as opposed to hard copy ones. If you do find out it's an issue, please take it down... I don't want to stir up any trouble.

And thanks to everyone for the "nice finds" smile
EDIT: Actually, come to think of it, this is almost promoting their next issue for them... that being said, I'd REALLY hope this wasn't a problem!

But this is just the same as taking an image from a website. No one pays to see EGMi. Just sayin'.

I double checked to see if EGMi might've been a pay-online-mag (I typed in a card number that came with the hard copy mag), but upon checking the link in a completely different browser and not logged in at all, the E3 issue still came up. So I guess it is 100% free after all. Here's the direct link:

Never thought it was a great track to fight to, but damned if that wasn't one of the best, most full pieces of music in MK's history! It'd be great if they could get more of that quality into the music of the games, and less clangy sound effects and monotonous electric guitar riffs.

Any signs of the rooftop stage shown in the trailer (with Kung Lao)?
Not the most immediately exciting stage in concept, but probably the most unique in a whole lot of nigh pointless nostalgia. I'd like to get a better look at it (particularly if it isn't Outworld invasion on the other side of camera)!

Yeah, the only issue I was wondering about was the question of whether it was a paid service or not, since I'm not at all familiar with EGMi. It's completely fine if it's free of course.

I was uncertain at first, since like I mentioned before, the last hard copy issue came with a card supposedly for four free isues... however this is the sixth one I was able to read. Then I jumped from one browser to another with no login info, and the mag still popped up in full.

And like I said, considering it was from their "coming soon" section for the next hard copy magazine, putting the picture up should more or less be promoting it... it certainly makes me want to buy it even more wink

Click "reply" then under where the smileys are, it says "Add Original". Hit that to quote the post that you clicked reply on.

Anyways, good find! Loved the church back then...but the best music to me is still the Subway from MK3 wink

I hope the graveyards back !

Perhaps a good knock through the cathedral glass window could send the opponent flying outside into the graveyard.
I always thought the two stages seemed to go hand in hand.
