My personal two cents: plots in fighting games are as pointless as a tennis helmet. As long as her move set and Fatalities are awesome, I could not possibly care less whether she's torn between allegiances.

And that's the difference between you and me, along with many others who care for the storyline. Why you chose to post in this thread is beyond me, if you aren't even interested in the main topic.

I don't want Tanya being the only evil Edenian female character in this series. I'm not counting Mileena because she is just a creation not originally born in Edenia.

I would like to see become evil, (why am I always wanting certain characters go evil?) Despite that she is dressed to look like a good character, so was Tanya and when we all saw that she was evil, I'm sure some of us went "whoa, she's a bitch!"

Sindel might be the banshee queen once again, Jade might still be the assassin that follows Kahn, but we know the outcome already. Jade turns on Kahn and shows that she's been a loyal friend to Kitana.

Sindel is saved and is turned back to the good side.

Neither of these characters should have this outcome in this game. Both of them are wickedly great characters with awesome moves, awesome background, just awesome enough. But I prefer if these two characters remain their evil ways, remain the way they were before things changed.

Let the evil conquer for once in this game and show those outcomes. I think everything would be really interesting to see if certain events just changed literally. I would appreciate it if it happened. But also, if it doesn't, well I would at least like something to change.

Neither @ the topic choices. Same with mostly every character in the game. Sometimes, things aren't black and white, and people do horrific things with the best possible intentions. Jade has a lot of blood on her hands, but IMO, she believed she was doing what she had to do. I've always viewed her has pragmatic. Same thing with her defection. When she turned on Kahn, she did what she believed she had to do at the time.

People just don't change on a dime. So I don't believe Jade was this evil character for most of her life, and then in one instant, changed to become a saint. I have a theory that the reason why Jade existed as Kahn's assassin for as long as she did was because she felt she was serving Edenia best by doing so. Maybe she felt like an abassador, and to keep her people in Kahn's good graces, she felt like she had to sell her soul to the proverbial devil (Kahn). If any of you have seen the movie Serenity, the Operative stated at one point that he realized he was a monster and had no place in the utopian society he was trying to create. He was doing what he felt he had to do to achieve the greater good. I believe this is the case with Jade.

When Kitana turned on Kahn, Jade did her job dutifully until she was faced with the impossible decision of contributing to her best friend's murder. It was probably her breaking point -- the point where she decided she couldn't reconcile her role in Kahn's regime anymore. And maybe she felt Kitana was actually on the verge of creating real change, which was enough to inspire her to cut ties with Kahn and take a different approach in preserving Edenia.

So yeah, I don't believe Jade is inherently good or inherently evil. In this game, we're just being introduced to the Jade that felt serving Kahn was in the best interest of her people.

Jade is my second favorite character, and my favorite female character. I would really hate to see her as "Evil'. I like the fact that she sided with her heart rather than her own needs and wants, it's why I like her as a character. If she ends up being a Tanya clone, I fear she's going to slip from my top 5 characters. If she's evil then she's basically Tanya and the LAST thing Mortal kombat needs is another Tanya.

I don't have time to make a fully-fleshed out post, but I want Jade to play both sides in this game.

I would be pissed if I saw an evil Jade. At most I would only expect a hardened warrior that lives by a strict honor code - that just happens to be working initially for the bad guys.

Garlador, what an amazing thread!

How in the world did i miss it is beyond me. I just finished reading every single post and I've got to admit that my interest in Jade has sparked all the way to the top.

Jade really is a mystery. There's not much facts about her to get many things clear, but, the little there is so great that it creates all these kinds of assumptions, theories, and ideas.

I agree that Jade was, indeed, an "evil character" at first. Not Shang Tsung/Shao Kahn evil, but, a bad woman for doing/believing in the wrong things. It might had been her strict sense of honor and loyalties, but, she's not stupid, she knows that Kahn's regime (as do all his followers) is one of tyranny.

Anyway, I'd like to see more background story on Jade this time around. We really don't have much to look at when you think about it, but, there's so much to wonder:

1) When and why did she join Kahn? Does she have any morals?
2) When did she became bff with Kitana?
3) What are her thoughts on Kahn's rule?
4) Did she know about Edenia's true history before Kahn?
5) How does she react when Kitana is accused of being a traitor?
6) How will the final confrontation end?

In the end, I want to see GOOD Jade because that's what we are used to and that's how I like her.

I want to see her start "evil/bad", deal with her inner conflicts (Kahn or Kitana?), discover truths (assuming she had no idea about Sindel/Edenia), and finally join Kitana (after a dramatic moment).

I want to see more of Jade in story AND personality.

I really hope they nail her personality to perfection. The only thing we got is "mysterious and virtuous and deadly amazonian who lurks in the shadows"....we need more.

I don't think it's exactly fair to label Jade as having been 'Evil', so to speak. She just so happens to have, as Garlador said, served Kahn faithfully for quite some time, meaning she probably wasn't born or was very young when Edenia was taken (or she felt no real kinship to her home realm, being aware of it but having grown up in Kahn's service). I believe she's always done what she thought was right.

Nevertheless, assuming Raiden dicks around with the timeline a wee bit, but Jade still makes that choice to help Kitana and lay the smack down on Reptile, there's one thing I'd very much like to see Jade do before any of that happens, and that's to kill one of Earthrealm's warriors in Story mode. Ed said we might have people die who didn't before, or some such - witnessing her eliminate someone in Kahn's name would be more of a surprise than it would be to see someone like Reptile or Baraka do it, and would really serve to remind she wasn't initially sympathetic to the side of the angels.

Its the same as Kitana. Kitana was loyal to Shao Khan for most of her life. So was Jade, its just what they knew.

1. It is not certain how Jade came under Khan's servitude. It is known however that Jade and Kitana are childhood best friends, Kitana was taken as a baby, so its safe to assume that Jade was also a baby and it is also known they were Khan's assassins, so from that info we can gather that Kitana and Jade grew up training and serving Khan together. Which is probably how they became friends and also answers question 2

3.Like Kitana, Jade probably didnt think anything of Khan's rule, its just what they did, how they were raised. Until of course they were old enough to think for themselves and Kitana found out about Edenia.

4. Probably not, we dont even know how and when Kitana found out about Edenia.

5 and 6 are yet to be seen also

I wonder who that would be, if Jade would kill someone from Earthrealm. And also, it would might put some strain on the whole Edenia/Earthrealm alliance later on if Jade in fact killed one of the Earthrealm warriors. Could be interesting.
