mkda shang tsung's look was terrible imo. I loved his mk vs dc look. And his mk9 look awesome.

Just so everyone knows, the Shang Tsung "model" you saw was nothing than a mere painting for the vignette. And also, Kang's fatality is not the heart rip. How would he punch through someone, and be holding their heart? At the end of it his fist is clenched, and covered in blood. So..

Shang's model hasn't been shown yet, because you never saw him actually move. Just a painting for the video. And it's not Kano's heart rip, it's a whole through the chest.

Anyway, I like this incarnation of Shang. Does a good job of looking evil while not also looking ridiculous.

And of course, there's Liu Kang. I'm pretty excited for him now, and this is the first time I've ever been excited about him.

I agree. I'm loving the look for Shang Tsung. This is probably his best look since MK1&2. THANK YOU NRS for not making him look like some 80's glam rocker with that faggish face paint, and the MKvsDC look was cool, but he looked more like some kind of sleazy pedophile than a badass sorceror. He's perfect right now. IDK why some of you guys are hating on him. And OMG, him AND Liu Kang actually look ASIAN, OMFG, an asian character in a fighting game that actually looks asian. I think I may have a seizure.

Now if he's just playable and we get the morphing ability somehow without slowing the game down, I will happy enough to give horseface Sheeva a kiss when she shows her hideous self. MORRRRRPH! PLEASSSSE!

Also, it's NOT the heartrip guys. He's punching through their chest, Hong Kong cinema style. It's a PERFECT fatality for him, as all his moves are taken from cheezy kung fu movies.

I always assumed Old Man Shang Tsung was blind but had magical vision that allowed him to see anyways.

I wasn't too fond of his costume in that game,but as far as his actual face was concerned,they made obviously him look like Trevor Goddard,which I thought was fucking wonderful.

It looks like the team is finally trying to be consistent when it comes to characters' facial features. This is something we definitely should be welcoming.

Shang also looks very much like his MKvsDc appearance. I wasn't too big of a fan of that design,but I can certainly appreciate the consistency.

Some people have complained that Baraka's face seems to have been pretty much copied from MKvsDC with barely any changes. Personally,I really liked his actual outfit in that game,but in terms of the face,I thought his undoubtedly best look was his Deception appearance. But I would still like to stress that consistency is admirable.


Somebody,get a cap of that dragon,stat. I want to behold it in all of it glory. Maybe the dragon is actually wrapped around Kahn's fortress. That would be kinda badass.


As much as I hate to agree,I'm really,really not feeling this Shang design. At all. I got no real complaints about his face,but the outfit...

MKDA was the best he's ever fucking looked. Compared to that,this is weaksauce.


There was always something a bit odd about a hardened convict wearing all white.


At first I was really annoyed by this.

Then I realized that this attack is actually a counter. Moreover,I also realized that you can think of it as kind of a shout-out to his self-immolation fatality. Not to mention that the totally Bruce Lee-style backhand he does after the teleport is fucking awesome.

Now I feel much better about this. All it needs now is some kinda badass name. :3

Kano looks great, Shang Tsung isn't a personal favorite.

I'm not sure this is a traditional "rooftop stage". A lot of the buildings don't really fit the old rooftop stage from mk3, so I wouldn't think of it like that.

There is a dragon in it on the left, and when I was pausing to look at the buildings in the game (of which only one is really western) there is a giant shadow figure that moves behind a building. You can see it best at 23 seconds. Trying to find a figure later in the video shows a gigantic winged dragon at 1:09

If they repleaced whole backgroung than maybe yes.

But In Gameinformer you can clearly see "western looking" buildings. Some american city.

They said the Rooftop stage has both a day and a night version, but it looks more specifically like Pre & Post Invasion. If you can see, that little pole right behind Kung Lao is the same one you can see in the stage in Kang's vignette, as well as those little metal twirly bulbs(i don't know what they're called).
It's just a lot more drastically changed.

sorry liu kang fans but I HATE HIM he's just a jer and I actually think the bio shouldn't been him it should had been goro I wanted to hear more about him and his lair than a dumb shaolin monk as for shang tsung god why not give him his old mk1 attire this look like an updated mk vs dc attire god and kano yeah glad he made the cut but he needs to be more of a drug criminal not another mk vs dc attire ripoff

Liu Kang's moves are impressive. But I don't like how they give him teleport. I thought "teleports for everyone" were out of fad after MKA, but seems not so much.

Kano - mixed bag. I like his costume, but I prefer Kano's face form MK1-MK3, not movie Kano face.

Shang is uninspired and boring. His best look was in MKDA (alt costume). This one looks like MK/DC outfit made worse and simplier.

New arena is awesome, but I hope it's not remake of the Rooftop. I want to see red portal over Shao Kahn's Tower in HD graphics.

Liu Kang's theme was awesome. Much better than Millena's one.

Yeah why would they do that for Goro when he's not even on the official site, but I would like to see Liu over goro...someone who I can actually play with when the game releases.

Like the game has gotten my pumped for so many characters who I could care less about, if Rain were to show his face now and was bring bigger and newer things to the table I would probably play with him as well.

You know, the background reminds me of Annihilation, in that everything seems to be getting merged. I can see city buildings, but also Shaolin Temple spires and Outworld structures...

Well part 1 of what Lupinko leaked is true, he plainly described that in that twitter, it's a stage showing how Earthrealm and Outerworld are combining. I hope there's a kewl stage fatality with the portal, better than that of MKD. I could be wrong, but that seems to be him punching straight through the opponent, and pulling out a portion of the spine, not the heart, too much blood to tell but looks more like it.

At the end, he's holding up his bloody flaming fist, there's not anything in it.

yeah just a counter, whats the big deal? For me i like it, kinda bruce lee style move.

- Kano appearance is cool, he looks rough, cruel , the way he should be. Very detailed in-game model seems to be.

- Shang Tsung is ok, he looks exactly what he is : a dark sorcerer and a martial fighter at the same time. His facial looks OK, with him as a young man, and his costume, despite pretty simple designed, has a nice combination of colors.

- Liu Kang is pretty nice on his own, a true martial artist warrior to be respected and feared. His fatality is a homage to Bruce Lee, using "MK Style" , hehe.
