Liu Kang = Onaga?

Now, I don't mean this literally, that he and Onaga are the same person, but what if in this new storyline, Kang is of the same bloodline as the king?
How twisted would that be?
How twisted would that be?

A twist that would not end well with the hardcore.
A total mindfuck, I'll say that.

But did Onaga even procreate? I didn't think he had any heirs. I didn't even think he was of a race. Just thought he was one of the pre-entities like Kahn or Raiden. Not necessarily a god, but just other-worldly in origin.

Isn't it odd how he can Summon a Dragon for his Fatality. That would be unique if Liu was the only one who could Summon Onaga from death. It's funny, but a unique idea.

I always figured that was because of the Elder Gods, though. Since they themselves are Dragons in essence.
(The things we saw in the Raiden vignette were most likely their avatars).

I think Liu Kang's reason for the dragon is that the Elder Gods are dragons in their true forms and Liu being the champion of Mortal Kombat gives him some kinda link to the Gods allowing for his Animality/Fatality/Whatever.
That's what I've heard and I'm sticking to it!

Interesting idea, it would give Liu Kang and Onaga more depth and intrigue. It also makes the explanation for why Liu Kang can transform into a dragon more plausible, than simply him simply being the chosen one or because he won the tournament. It reminds me of Yu Yu Hakusho, when Yusuke was techniqually human, but he was the descendent of a powerful demon, through genetic transmigration(I think that's the term) and Raizen(his ancestor transferred his DNA intentionally to an heir strong enough to succeed him. I really do like your idea a lot, kudos.

No, he always looked like he does in Deception. The corpse in his coffin in Sindel's ending is a giant dragon-man.

Sense- This thread makes none.

I would've preferred his look be similar to the one in Raiden's MKDA ending.

I love the "Liu Kang Link to the Elder Gods Theory". Simply badass. The relation to Onaga would shine a whole new light on the way we perceive Liu as "The Dragon". I honestly would not mind that aswell. This would give him a dualistic nature. I dont mean suffering from Bi Polar disorder, no. I mean someone who stands for what is just yet grants no mercy to the conquered. Imagine him much more cold and cruel, almost mistaking him for a bad guy.
Of course for all of that to work, Liu would have to maintain his "Chosen One" status. Which I hope he does.
How about a side note in this post? (Honestly, I just dont want to start a new one. I hope you dont mind asmodeus.) (Me and my 2 little bros did this tonight and it was really fun!)
Considering Liu is currently known as "The Chosen One"
Who is also known as the"The Chosen One?"
My List:
-Neo
-Ryu
-Michael Jordan
-Luke Skywalker
-Prime Mike Tyson (many thought so on his rise to the title)
-Bill of Left 4 Dead (The chosen one to DIE! HAHA!)
-The Chosen One stick man http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IF1heGQ3ttM&feature;=fvst
-Master Chief (arguable imho))
Thats all we got

What if Liu Kang is the 3rd son of Delia?
Argus/Delia's quest could be interfereing before Raiden sent his message back, Taven/Daegon's quest is what's causing Raiden to fuck up.

Onaga, as far as we've been shown, has always looked like he did in deception. That really means nothing though as the pic of Onaga shown in sindel's ending is of how he looked when he died and that is the "earliest" pic we have of him.
What did he looks like when he was born.? Was he born a dragon? Did he be come a dragon through some ritual with his holy men? We don't know.
But anyway, liu being related to Onaga was just a passing thought. I do think it would be a kinda cool twist though. Kahn being killed by the heir of the DK? It would put their final battle on a whole other level and make liu taking down shinnok more believable.

Well, in that case, the phrase "Karma's a bitch" comes to mind.
@Tetra- Liu being the third son of Argus and Delia? Isn't he kinda, you know, human? Not a demi-god? lol Edit: Although that would explain the firepower. lol

Not to keep beating a dead horse but this idea I think is really really cool. Imagine if the thing Raiden wanted to change was liu's knowledge of his past?
What if Liu's heritage was kept from him to ensure he didn't repeat the mistakes of the past. But somehow dark Raiden comes to the conclusion that if liu had just killed Kahn back then they wouldn't be going though the crap they were now. Future Raiden possesses past Raiden and fills liu in on himself. The seed is planted but doesn't bloom until liu feels true hatred.
I'm just talking now, but it could be a good story.

It could be a good story if executed well.
