lol you think the good guys won't spend the game trying to restore them, like Kitana spent the original MK3 undoing the brainwashing of Sindel?
Being evil slaves of Quan Chi puts them even MORE in the spotlight.

*Film spends entire time following a group of heroes as they fight the villain and try to save fallen heroes*
*Film is OBVIOUSLY about the fallen heroes*
Yep, fantastic logic.

And all of them will be back in the next game.
Especially the dead ones.
Or did you miss the part about Quan Chi getting his hands on all their souls and building an army for Shinnok?

That happened already with MK: Deception.
:sigh: -_-

Again, MK3 was all about Sindel. Same thing.

Looks like Smoke's specials are Teleport, Smoke Cloud, Shake, and Air Throw, though there may be more.

Only in the same sense that The Lord of the Rings was "about" the One Ring.
You're running around going on and on about your knowledge of good writing but you somehow think the MacGuffins in a story are more important characters than, you know, THE ACTUAL CHARACTERS.

I don't think Kratos' ending was posted:
Shao Kahn was dead. The God of War had prevailed. The spell that had summoned him began to reverse itself.
As he slowly faded from this place and time, Kratos was approached by Raiden and Fujin.
Though he did not count them among his enemies, Kratos had never been beloved by these gods.
He prepared for kombat.
To his surprise, they bowed to him, a show of respect he had not seen from an immortal in many an age.
Raiden explained that though his motives were not pure, Kratos had saved Earthrealm.
He was owed a debt of gratitude.
As he returned to his own world, Kratos nodded silently.
Their change of heart would perhaps prove useful one day.
A debt of gratitude is often dearly paid.

Yes, the One Ring spent a LOT of time with a camera pointed at it and characters talking about it.
When a macguffin IS a character, that translates to that character getting a lot of screentime and dialogue.
Your argument that turning them into fodder for Quan Chi's army is pushing them to the side so lesser characters can get more screentime simply doesn't make any sense.

My problem is that there is too much character death. We know MK. We know each game generally there are 90% returning characters. It's not like they're not going to have Kitana never in a game again; and now we must suffer through yet another "their will is not their own" sorcerer enslavement storyline. I'm not a big fan of it. I'm extremely disappointed in this; it's bad to wish for MK: Deception but I do.

Well I haven't read every single line of this giant thing, but there's nothing about a Cyber-Reptile in the bios, endings, or story-mode.

lol @ "Cyber-Reptile" !!
haha, maybe we gonna see an orange robot called "Cyber-Scorpion" ?
haha, I don't think so, Ed could do anything to almost all others characters, but not turn his favourite character into a "Cyber-Version" .....

Okay, I have a question.
Like I said, I am at work now. I have been able to read the first two pages of bios and arcade endings.
Does the rest of this thread get even worse? Judging by some of the comments I`m looking at that I have no context for, it seriously looks like all of story mode has been spoiled, or something.
Is this the case?

I feel like the problem, personally, isn't that there's too much death. It's that the wrong ones die. The story needed death, to feel like a Mortal Kombat, like the fights matter and sometimes characters do finish each other off. But only one side suffered losses. I didn't see, for instance, anything bad happen to Baraka after someone beat him. Who would leave a monster like Baraka alive? I don't think I saw ANY references to any villains get killed, in fact. Or Sektor. Or Kintaro and Sheeva. There's LESS death in this game than there was in the original MK1 thru 3.

half way reading the endings Jax and Kano's endings are so fucking stupid, they make Jarek's ending from MK4 look like best selling novel material
