Cyborg Batman sounds fucking sweet!
I actually think in the long run this could potentially strengthen Subs story. He will have a very personal vendetta against the Tekunin. And unlike Cyrax Subby will actually get shit done. Some say Subs story was the best one of all MK characters. I don't see it myself. MK2 through MK4 didn't see Subby do much except further and then retcon Scorpions Storyline. Sub-Zero never seems like he does what he sets out to do sans Grandmaster of LK. This storyline will take him en route to rivalries with Sektor and whoever is steering the Lin Kuei in the path of evil. Which in turn gets him closer to his Brother.
As far as Fire and Ice go I'm not sure. Maybe it can work out even with him being a cyborg. Scorpion needs a new direction anyway and this story could take MK to new and better levels.
I'm giving the story a chance.

People don't seem to get this part...Cyberninjas are not Iron Man. You can't just take off the armor and magically go back to normal. It's FULL BODY SURGERY. His flesh has literally been peeled the fuck off, some of his internal organs scooped out, and it's all replaced with metal and cables and gears, pistons, and servos. They have oil for blood! His eyeballs are lightbulbs! They've all got hollow chests that shoot bombs out for fuck's sake. Look at the damage Cyrax's helmet takes in-game. When you crack off chunks of his helmet, there's not skin underneath, there's more metal! Yes, it's a magical universe and some character could in theory cast a spell to make it all fall off and regenerate his flesh...or he could die and be resurrected in a human body...but who do we got that can do that, Quan Chi? I don't want to see Sub-Zero indebted to one of his worst enemies, we ALREADY have too much compromise and manipulation going on. Can't there be any heroes who ever fucking WIN anymore?

Because I was just about to do it myself. If there is a way to reverse the cyberization (which there fucking isn't,because it involves SCOOPING OUT YOUR ORGANS),why didn't Jax and Sonya use it to help Cyrax?
Sektor - okay,he is a killer robot and he fucking loves it,so he would never go back to being a human. Smoke was stashed away in Shao Kahn's trophy room,so he couldn't go through with the procedure even it he wanted to. But Cyrax is the one cyborg who had both the resources and the desire to become human again. Yet the best the OIA was capable of was restoring access to his memory banks or whatever so he could remember who he is and regain some of his humanity. That seems to be the best they can do. If they could give him his body back,they would. But they didn't. Because they couldn't.

And if you can't see them bringing him back in the next game, than you has to get over it even more. Cuz making 2 chapters of a story mode non canon would be even more stupid. But you are right... In MK something like bringing back Sub to normal is not logical and very hard to do.

That said, I disagree with the claim Smoke isn't getting a chance to shine, and is still the same insignificant background character he always was. That's not true. He's doing WAY more in this game than he has in a while...

But in several other chapters, he's playing a far more active role in Earth's defense, and the plot in general, than he ever has before. He IS essentially taking Sub-Zero's place for much of the story. Through most of the MK2 plot, he and Cage remain at Raiden's side throughout, which is more than I can say for Sonya and Jax... And even in the MK3 plot, he's still at the forefront of things. And the most vocal of the Earth warriors in chapters that involve Cyber Sub-Zero.
Am I saying he jumps out to become the absolute end all be all STAR of the game? No. The plot on the whole more or less revolves around Raiden.

Did you read the script? Smoke may have his own chapter, but he barely ever says or does anything IN it or anywhere else in story mode. He is the most forgettable playable character in the whole thing. The only characters in the game who got fucked worse than Smoke did in terms of screentime are the villains who didn't even get chapters and only act as henchmen: Goro, Kintaro, Sheeva, Kano, Reptile, and Baraka.
