What better way to start a Happy New Year than to announce another 'Flawless Victory' for Mortal Kombat!

GameTrailers Game of the Year Awards have crowned Mortal Kombat as the 'Best Fighting Game of 2011'! GameTrailers not only praised Mortal Kombat's 'ambitious', 'inspired' and 'bold' resurrection along side its 'creativity', gameplay and all of its content, they also stated that the game "redefines the single player mode" and is "in every sense of the word, a game shaker for the genre".

Check out their excellent Best Fighting Game Trailer in which Mortal Kombat is heavily praised and featured (with lots of fun MK moments, characters, and Fatalities) along side the rest of the tough competition.

2011 was a good year for NetherRealm Studios and Mortal Kombat. The game has already claimed the title of 'Best Selling Fighting Game of the year' and has also been crowned 'Best Fighting Game of the Year' by Spike's VGA, the Golden Joystick Awards, and the Official US Xbox Magazine among others, but, good news are far from over.

Keeping up with this good record, the game is now featured in IGN People's Choice Awards and you can support and vote for Mortal Kombat by scrolling down the page and clicking the 'Green Thumb' next to the game's name. Vote soon for your favorite! Poll ends January 17th:

On another note, Mortal Kombat's one and only, Mileena, was featured in IGN's Worst Dressed Video Game Characters of 2011. The fun but questionable list also features popular and favorite characters such as Nathan Drake (from 'Uncharted') and Poison Ivy (from the 'Batman Arkham' series), however there is actually no mention or analysis from the editor concerning Mileena's costume, unlike all of the other characters that were mentioned in his list.

Finally, Giant Bomb has updated with a nice article featuring Ed Boon's Top 10 Games of 2011. Check out the article to read what Ed Boon, co-creator of the MK series, has to say about his favorite 2011 games. Can you guess which ones made his list?

Mortal Kombat Online would like to wish you all a Happy New Year! Expect some surprises in the upcoming months.
