Hey guys, I'm new around here but I wanted to let everyone know that I decided to go ahead and post a "NEWS & DISCUSSION" Thread for MK9 over at Shoryuken. I wanted to share that with you guys, just in case anybody hangs out over there too.

Hopefully we can build some hype over on SRK and possibly see some support from those guys and maybe even see MK9 at EVO2k11. I'm gonna try to keep the first post updated as the news pours in, and hopefully that thread can spawn into its own sub-forum over there like Tekken, Smash, and KOF have.

Hope this isn't considered spam >_< I just want this game to be successful and getting SRK to recognize it is a big step along the way! If anybody would be willing to bump it now and then, I'd appreciate it and I'm sure the community as a whole would as well.

Well I could care less about SF lovers pointing fingers for going old school, but the power bars? that's pretty much 100% SF right there, it's the only game that mechanic belongs in. It removes a large element of skill assuming a simple button or short combo unleashes a super move, and counter moves wouldn't be a ripoff of anything. It's a legit fighting tactic unlike that combo breaker BS. I wanna go back to the old MK 2 days where people needed skill to kick my ass, but noobs could still pick up the game and at least play it.

Remember guys, Story-wise, this is going to be the best ever, or the worst ever. I hope for the best.

Besides that everything else is pretty ok I guess, though I still have second thoughts. I was bumbed out about the graphics earlier on some characters that looked recycled but hopefully that can be polished up.

p.s. - Baraka better be in this.

All the characters post-MK3 can go and kill themselves for all I care. Although one or two of the new characters had their moments, none of them where characters that I -really- needed to see how their story ended.

Hopefully I'll get the one thing I've been waiting for since MK4, cinematic endings in arcade mode for all characters -wait for it- that are actually all cannon.

I would also love for characters to actually get killed off! I'm sick of -every- character coming back to life after suffering a 'comic book death'. Think about it. Mortal kombat is a death tournament. Deaths have more impact when they don't come back the next day. I want this so bad that I'll even sacrifice my favourite character Kano to be ripped apart for good (dramatically of course)

doubt it'll ever happen. No one will give this game a chance because it's called Mortal Kombat and Capcom had nothing to do with it. As long as Daigo and JWong play Capcom games, MK will never be huge with the tourney players

You know that they play non-Capcom games at Evo, right? The reason MK's not had a presence there before is that the games have not been particularly good.

Also, there are tourney players besides Daigo and Wong. Flash Fact.

Tekken and SoulCalibur. The rest is dominated by Capcom. SSFIV, MvC2, SF2 HD, and ladies SSFIV. If Mortal Kombat makes it in the line up of Evo 2011, I'll buy you a new car

EVO has had Tekken, Smash Bros, Blazblue, and this year Meltyblood on the big screen as a main tournament. The simple fact that LI Joe was playing and beasting at MK3 recently at the ECT(?) stream is enough to bring in the top-player dick riders haha.

Believe me, if this game gets the attention that it deserves, this game has an easy chance of showing up at EVO next year, assuming it's good.

Did you forget that up until about 2 years ago, Street Fighter was completely irrelevant?

has had those games. Where is Smash now? Granted it's now just dominated by Meta Knight users and probably doesn't deserve to be in. Where is BlazBlue now? A fantastic 2D fighter is no longer there.

SF has never been irrelevant at Evo. SFIII has been there up until now.

I really do hope that Mortal Kombat will be at Evo next year if it's good. But MK has a reputation of being a garbage fighter with only MK3 being tournament worthy. People will likely just take it by reputation and ignore it.

Blazblue isn't there because the Blazblue community didn't want it there. They willingly gave up their spot because of complications with the new game and the old game not being fully resolved. And smash is gone because it's fucking smash and fuck yeah its gone. Tekken is still there. Guilty gear was in last year. This year is melty blood. MK has an absolutely solid chance of being in next year.
