The Waffen SS had no spikes on their helmets because the Stahlhelm (steel helmet) was an uniform mould which was better at protecting from fragmentation.

What you are referring to is the Picklehaube, the similar looking German helmet from WW1, and they initially had plumes. The so-called Russian Spike came later (ball, from which came an emerging spike)

Mongolians wore hard boiled leather caps, I have no idea from where you got the idea they wore spikes on them aside from fiction. This is a mongolian warrior:

Scorpion is too decorated.

I'm loving the covers. My favourite is obviously the Raiden one.

Now, I'm a huge huge Raiden fan. He is easily one of my top favorite characters and someone I'm always extremely happy to see return.....but I've got to say that this look is very, well, boring for him.

I want to reserve further judgement until I see him on a gameplay video, but, the look of this poster picture is one of the least impressive costumes I've seen (sorry Tgrant! ).

I mean, I understand he is going "back in time" and all that crap, but, that's no excuse to make him so unbelievably simplistic and unimpressive when you have his incredible MKDA and MKvsDCcostumes to compare it to. And even if you are not a fan of his MKD look, there is more detail and attention there than it is here.

I don't know, maybe I'm just disappointed that I keep being unimpressed by almost all of the characters "new" looks, or maybe its just that I keep hoping I'm going to see costumes that are actually NEW and not almost exact copies of previous costumes seen in the classic games.

Raiden has always been a favorite of mine, so, naturally, I do hope that the final version of this costume is more polished, if not, he better get a killer/amazing alternate costume that makes me go WOW (Vincents art work of Raiden is THE BEST example of the direction they should take him).

The same thing goes to almost all the revealed characters.

Never got a chance to say it because I was distracted by Scorpion's mask, but Raiden could definitely use some detail. His MKvsDC costume was perfect for balancing new and old; not sure why they didn't take that route. If you feel the same way about Subzero, the new EGM concept art really put his costume into perspective for me. I thought it looked good before, but the concept art brought all the little details to life for me.

I really like how it takes the literal description of an actual scorpion and applies it to Scorpion's costume.

I'm really liking the new Scorpian costume but the spikes are they really needed? It just bothers the fuck out of me the DA look was awesome for Scorpian a real ninja. But overall its a great design.

As for Raiden I think I'm the only one the doesn't like this design it looks too plain and dully, and not very godly. But im alright with it as a alt.

It's supposed to be the August issue, they normally come out about 2wks before the month. So give it another 10days or so.

This is by far the best Raiden costume since the OLD games. He just wore WAY too much shit in the passed few games. You couldn't possibly fight in something like that. This is much more simplistic and it still looks nice.

also the germans in ww1 did have spikes on their head, i was "Out of it" last night saw i didn't realize what I wrote. The point wasn't about where and why it originated only that certain armor was designed to look fearfull in the eyes of the enemy.

Is this Hyper magazine available for purchase in the States? I know the UK version of PSM is, but I 'm not very familiar with is title.

For those of you who think he has too much of an insect scorpion theme.... What the hell is this guys name again? Oh right it's Scorpion. Plus this is really the first game he has all this scorpion-like accessories. Which he should! I mean it shouldn't be all out but it's done right. All though I do think the shoulder pads look a bit dumb. Maybe if they curved downward but still had the stinger it would look better. Idk

It's the second game where he has the insect look. MKvsDCU was the first.

And the problem with it isn't that it's there at all. Some of it is a neat idea because it fits his name. The problem is there's TOO MUCH. All the weird stuff that looks like a cross between armor and tumor-growths on his chest, thighs, and mask look ridiculous. It looked better in MKvsDCU, they just took it too far.

Raidens cover is sick, and I think Scorpions new outfit is pretty awesome too, a bit flashy tho, and I've never been to keen on the spinal cord mouth piece tho but I give it a thumbs up.

Do you know if there is there any way I would able to get my hands on the issue with Scorpion on it?

Yeah some nice artwork of Raiden and Shao Kahn.

I did notice that they said that The Courtyard is an arena.They may have confused Kahn's Kolliseum with it. However I do believe we will end up getting that stage anyway.

The Courtyard would look amazing.. and I think should be in it.. it's golden age MK... hmmmmm, you've done a better job reading that than me, dang it....
