According to Hector Sanchez, "The main story mode of the game doesn’t include any Fatalities at all; they are only available in the free play mode of the game."

It is from an aritcle posted by Games On Net:
http://games.on.net/article/10151/Just_How_Violent_Is_The_New_Mortal_Kombat

I personally would like to see some killing involved mission kind in the story mode cuz characters do die in the MK storyline, and a fatatlity would fit the atmosphere of the game.

But meh no biggy I can do it in arcade/vs. mode anyway.

It would be weird, if you finished story mode, the whole mk universe would be killed by you :D

I doubt anybody dies, maybe Sub-Zero but otherwise none.

Maybe Mileena, but she is ressurected by Shinnock, and Johnny cage has a small chance but I doubt it.

MIllions of Raptors, Centaurs, Shokans, Non-saying humans, Tarkatans and outworld warriors DIE however.

It makes sense because you can't just get into fights with important kharacters like Kung Lao or Kitana and then kill em off.
It'd be pretty ridiculous if you were to perform a fatality and then that character magically repairs himself in the following cutscene

Fatalitys in story mode would be non canon.

Raiden: "Where's Kung Lao?" "Liu Kang: "Scorpion did a Fatality to him, he's dead"

confused

I can understand why, in Story Mode, they don't have Fatalities.

Though that would be funny.

Liu Kang: "Hey Kung Lao! How about a sparring match?"
Kung Lao: "Okay, Liu."
*10 minutes later*
Raiden: "Earthrealm warriors! I have come to warn you of... OH MY GOD! Is that his SPLEEN?!"

I like this concept, actually. Makes it able to dodge any of the "canon conflict" Shaolin Monks had. Oy, that was a disaster. I do think, however, any character that has to die in the storyline should though. I mean, some characters HAVE been killed, but of course come back through some sort of sorcery or magic, etc.

Most of you guys are missing my point.

Being able to freely perform a fatality after every winning match is an obvious no no.

However, the storyline could make some characters die just like the old storyline, and when it does that, it should make them die in the fucking nasty way.

In other words, SOME of the matches in the story mode could force you kill your opponent by doing a fatality on him/her.

For example, kitana has to kill mileena to pass the stage and if you fail to execute then mileena comes back to sense by regaining a quarter of life and starts attacking you again.

Remember MKDC? Every single time you knock out your opponent. That was a waterdown installment so it's ok. But this one's supposed to be the big bad wolf right? And still doing the "friendly knockout" all the time? Come on, couple of fatatilties couldn't hurt.

If a character dies in story mode, it should be in a cutscene. There's no acting, dialogue, or drama in a fatality animation.
well.......ain't that a bitch.

Seems they understood what was wrong with MKSM and try to fix it.
Good idea. Really good.

It makes sense. It would be weird for you to bisect somebody and then they are totally fine in the next cutscene. People might die in the cutscenes themselves though. Of course it's possible that by the end of it, everyone is still alive and kicking and ready to kick more ass in MK10. Who knows. I will be playing the hell out of the story mode though. vsDCU's story mode was incredibly good and they are talking up this new one like it's going to be even better.

My MK9 wishlist... Everyone from MK 1-2, Cyrax, Sektor, Nightwolf, Ermac, and Shao Khan.

That is 18 characters. There are 8 spaces for other awesome characters! (Plus DLC?)

Cyber Younger Sub-Zero, Human (or Cyborg) Smoke, Skarlet, Sarenna, Jade, Motaro, Rain, Stryker, Tremor, Quan Chi, Shinnok, Kabal, and who else?
