Reiko as DLC? Here is a good reason why.
About Me
Look, now Baraka has grown hair and beard! Shit, the time does fly...

I regularly kick ass as Reiko in MK4 ladder, but truthfully, he's an idiot.
I mean, if the dude really is (was) that much of Kahn's stooge:
1) why do we not know shit of his biography?
2) why are his looks an obvious mixture of UMK3 Ermac's body, Sub Zero's head and hairstyle, and MK3 Shang Tsung's eyes?
3) why does he appear that rarely?
4) why has he been among the least discussed regarding the DLC slots?
5) why doesn't he do anything deeper concerning his ambitions (ok, so he wants to overthrow Kahn, and...? He's gonna wait for Kahn to die of old age, or what?) ?
6) why even in MKA the creators didn't bother to aggrandize him as a personality (like, e.g. they rather successfully did with Rain) ?
In a nutshell, I don't dig him, but I could always change my mind should I see him in a reinvented form in this or next MK.

reiko could be made as a way to help set up for the next game, something that a non canon smoke clone can't do. besides, why do we need another smoke? we don't need another cyborg running around, we already have 3 of them.
and I'm pretty sure nrs is smart enough to add dlc chapters. waiting for the dlc characters to be released before they make a story chapter for them seems to make sense don't you think?

If he were meant to set up MK10, he'd have been included in the game on launch, just like Quan Chi. But he wasn't. And actually, doing a bit of digging, I'd also say don't hold your breath on getting new story chapters, especially revolving around DLC characters. As Boon tweeted on May 5th:
noobde
RT @strugler @noobde we want more story mode chapters as dlc make it happen ed!!! Noobde: That WOULD be kool. But EXPENSIVE !!!

Kind of doubt they'd eat into their profits to make DLC chapters so they can potentially make less money than they would have if they didn't.

Kobra would probably exceed all expectations and would be a welcome addition to the roster. He's really not that bad, especially if he was given a whole new set of moves. I'd most definitely take him over several other characters.

I think I might know the mystery character. Since PS3 had a new character and we didnt (By new I mean Kratos) maybe its someone new to this series. Maybe Ryu Hyabusa? That would be very epic to play as him. PS. He from Ninja Gaiden :)

I want Reiko as well for DLC! He is awesome indeed and would make a great villian addition to this game.

It's not going to happen

No to the Reiko/Kahn thing. No to Reiko. I like Reiko, but I hope its someone that's worth paying $5.00.
Besides, Cyborg Sub-Zero has his soul now, we could hope for Cyborg Sub-Kahn in the future.
I'm kinda hoping its that woman in Jade's ending. She looks really awesome, something I've never seen before in this game...

Yeah and this game needs more females.

Exactly! I want Reiko... in MK10. And not as a clone of Shao Kahn but as his own character.

OK just because someone is DLC in this game, it doens't mean they won't be in the next game. o_0 It'd be really shitty of NRS to exclude Skarlet, Rain and that blind bitch from the next entry in the series.
On topic: I actually really like Reiko (especially with that S&M warlord attire in Armageddon), but I just don't feel he's an appropriate addition to the MK9 cast. If anything, Shao's death could begin a cult of his followers with Reiko as the avid leader who believes he is the next in line.
Slightly Off topic: I don't even know how people are justifying Cyber-Smoke as it's own separate character. That's just...wrong. Cyber-Smoke is Smoke, and Smoke is in the game so yes he's represented. He may no longer be a cyborg (thank fuck) but he's still represented.

Depending on how popular the downloads are though, it might have some effect on their chances. I can't imagine MK10 without Kenshi and Rain, it would be a huge mistake to leave them out, but Skarlet is generic as they come and could probably sit out. Though it probably means less work for them to just include the DLC in the roster, and we know how NRS loves cutting corners.
The upside of including new or revamped characters as part of the main roster is that people can't skip over them. For example, I'd rather see characters like Fujin and Drahmin be in MK10 than just be DLC. More people would get to experience them and it raises their chances of becoming popular characters.

i agree with you on the robot smoke arguement.
i mean hey we did in fact have 2 subzeros but im glad they made classic subby into noob saibot.
come to think of it im pretty sure we can argue about ninjas like ermac and reptile but people wont now will they?
now imo if they can redo the roster from mk4 with guys like kai and jarek i think people will enjoy them

Of the DLC, Kenshi is really the only one practically confirmed for MK10.
I find it a bit problematic to describe an MK character as generic seeing as how most of them began as a previous characters (be it in the series OR an outside influence) anyways. Skarlet's story is, at least, better than the post-MK3 characters such as the Onis, Frost or the various Black/Red Dragon members.
I will say that while her story is 99.9% similar to Ermac's, who can really say Ermac isn't generic? You can't really bring in the original canon Ermac seeing as how things have definitely changed for him (and everyone else) and because that just isn't fair to Skarlet who is just debuting (as DLC mind you).
