How are Taven and Shujinko gonna fit in the new timeline?
Shujinko will only exist in the Dragon King saga and could use some new moves of his own including staying in some young age.
For Taven... he'll be a toughie. If only there was a way to make the brothers better characters without being screw-ups.

They won't fit. They never did.

They'll fit easily. As they always did.
All it'd take is a bit of creative thinking to equip them with a good move set, and you've got great characters. MK fans have no imagination.

Y'know what'd be kinda unique? If they kept Shujinko's "copies other people's powers" shtick, but all his moves were combinations of two different people's attacks.

There is really no way of telling now, we can only speculate as things are different now.
For example one half of the deadly alliance is now dead, not that death means much in MK, but he had a huge part to play in reviving the Dragon Kings army.
Taven and Jinko both appaeard in Raidens visions remember, we don't know if Raidens visions will still haunt him like they did in MK9, but we know he will make different dicisions for sure.
God I'm excited.

Well, maybe Raiden could look for Taven and wake him up himself, since having a demigod fighting in the side of good is a big advantage.
It took me 10 seconds to come up with that. MK Team, Y U NO more creative?

Or interupt Shujinko's quest for "Damashi" and bring him in for the fight with Shinnok because Raiden will know that it's a false quest for Onaga. Again ten seconds NRS.

I am liking this idea.

I wonder what will happen and what will change if Raiden does interrupt Shujinko's quest.

On the subject of the visions, though, Raiden only had extremely brief flashes of MK4 thru Armageddon, at the very beginning of story mode. There's no way he could remember those scenes after everything else that happened since.
And with his little medallion no longer cracking because he fulfilled the "he must win" mission, maybe he won't get any more visions at all.

it would be interesting to have Shujinko as a lead again but with major changes.

If he had a photographic memory, he wouldn't have needed to see some of the visions twice.
But he didn't remember any of the things he saw at the very beginning until he had another, more specific flash about them later on.

I don't know what future lies ahead for those two. But Shujinko appearing the dragon king saga... that's gonna be tough.
Shujinko needs new moves. With Khameleon & Chameleon gone, he'd be the only one who takes on the fighting styles of every warrior he encounters. Including his own moves, but.... if he wants to adapt every warrior, he needs a move that allows him to copy their moveset.

I think at this point Shujinko is in the Netherrealm regaining his taint. Maybe if NRS remembers this they can have him be imprisoned for questioning. Shinnok. He'd be tortured for a while until Sareena could let him loose. Damashi would have convinced her to free his puppet, and the two would leave Shujinko gaining an ally on his quest. Sareena tells Shujinko of Shinnoks plans and they hurry to earthrealm to warn Raiden. When they get to him, Raiden has a vision of Shujinko being held up by Onaga, and all other bodies are on the floor. Raiden attacks and the two fight. Raiden wins and demands to know what he is. Cage and Sonya look on in fear as Raiden starts to threaten death to Shujinko and begins sounding dark. The quest would be momentarily averted, but Damashi would convince Shujinko to stay and help, that way he could keep the old mans trust.
Taven could come back in the next game. Blaze has seen what happened and he feels it is now safe to awaken Taven. He does so, but thanks to Raidens interference, a new enemy arises. Shujinko has foolishly continued his quest, meanwhile Reiko and Noob have become new rulers and are threatening Earthrealm.

Unlike his brother Daegon, who has founded the Red Dragon that generated the Black Dragon and this combined with Shinnok that time (and therefore can come back next game), Taven has no relevance to the story if Armageddon does not happen. As for Shujinko nothing has changed, remains pawn Onaga and if it were not could be more a warrior of the earth (as it almost was a participant in the tournament and chosen from the MK1 Raiden in MK3, noting that characters beyond the MKT, Kenhsi also has, as revealed by the Konquest MKD).
Shujinko soon have more chances to get back to Taven, although its relevance in a new context can also be questioned, since Onaga can find someone else to do this work.
Leveraging Blaze has no real significance outside of Armageddon, since he only performed in MKDA redundant work to keep the egg from the Dragon King, which the Priest were already washed.

NRS will think something to make them unique.
I'm OK with the return of Taven and Shujinko, although I do not like 'em very much.
