I have never liked Raiden and was SO excited (stupidly) to think that Fugin was going to get a chance to take over the role. The way it looks now, Fugin may never even be in the storyline.

Human Cyrax is awesome and badass and unique, human sektor is gay and is better as a cyborg. Cyrax actually felt Ninja-like when you use him, he had smoke bombs and chemical explosive chi bombs and a chi net and.... I'm really gonna miss him.

Raiden is definitely a dumbass in this game and this is probably the first game in which I practically hate everything about him.

In the story, he makes many mistakes and has little self-confidence (especially for a God). He gets so desperate and dumb at times that he relies on mortals into telling him what actions to take. And he is supposed to be a God with eons of fuckin wisdom.

One of the most disappointing characters in this game, design-wise and story-wise.

Fujin never had to deal with the type of shit Raiden dealt with for thousands of years.

And it's a good thing he didn't. Fujin's not cut out to be the protector of anything. He doesn't know how to deal with mortals.

Then again, neither does Raiden...

Wow! I picked a good day to join. Everyones saying Raidens a dumb ass. How? What did he do? From what I remember all he did was try to figure out how to stop armageddon from a shitty message he must win. The guy doesn't know what the hell that means. But lui kang defeated shang and everyones fine. Then Sub Zero gets turned into a cyborg because he couldn't fight his way out. Subby is a big boy. Why should raiden have to save his ass? Then Kung Lao dies because he's stupid and turnes his back to Kahn and gets his neck snapped, Not Raidens fault. Then Lui Kang defeats Shao Kahn, but the amulet is still broke. Then shao kahn releases outworld on earth, because Lui Kang was retarded and let Shao Kahn be carried away instead of ripping his head off, seems kinda dumb to me. And when raiden asks for the elder gods help because earth sucks and can't handle its own, they say they can't do shit. Then everyone dies because they can't hold there own against Sindel even though it was like 7 against 1. Maybe they should learn to fight and not hope raidens there to save them everytime their in trouble. So with all hope dead for Earth Raiden sucks up his pride and asks Quan Chi for help eventually realising Kahn must win. But hey dumb shit Lui Kang tries to kill the God of Thunder and got what he deserved, a slow painfull death. Seems Lui isn't such a bad ass afterall. Finally Raiden kills Kahn, preventing armageddon. So how is this Raidens Fault?

Broken plot devices. This is honestly what the MK story was founded on. The whole point was to get Subby to be a Cyborg. This was the only way they could build some sort of logic to it.

if you didn't notice raiden didn't have much time to say anything before his head got smashed in the beginning, right after he got done saying his magic words or whatever Kahns hammer was coming down on his head.
I don't think he had time to say, Hey past self gues what! Turns out Shao Kahn end up causing Armageddon and everyone dies, so you should let him merge the realms then the Elder Gods will Kill him, ok gotta go i'm about to die. No his message ended up saving Earth. Everyone who died, died because they sucked

yep, brilliant idea. raiden should have, in the presence of shao kahn and all his minions, including kitana, baraka, reptile, sektor and cyrax, run up and zapped the cyborgs, hoping against hope that EVERYBODY stood back and let him.

I was sympathetic to Raiden because you see amd feel his frustration throughout the story mode as events got changed because of his own doing. Raiden himself took full responsibility for all the altercations in the time line such as Sub-Zero's transformation, Kung Lao's death, and such of the like.

I agree with others who mention that Raiden had only so much to work with, all he had were jumbled visions of the future and a message saying "He must win" to connect everything together.

You saw that Raiden reached out to the mortals and had a concern for their well being but as the story progressed and all the different events unfolded you saw Raiden react and take desperate measures especially when the Elder Gods refused to act on Raiden's plea of interferring with Shao Kahn's attempts.

You can't really blame Raiden for what he tried doing because his primary concern was protecting Earth and all the lives in it. He did make a lot of errors when acting on his visions but given the option of having complete and utter armageddon I think anybody in Raiden's situation would choose a different option than that.

I just went through Story mode for the first time. Just finished it.

I threw up a little in my mouth when he went to the Netherealm, tried to make a deal with Quan Chi, and offered up his own warriors' goddamn souls to strike a deal.

Raiden was written extremely poorly in this game.
