I personally think the run button should return, easier to use, looks better and better for fast paced gameplay, the dash just looks stupid, dashing like ten times to get to the guy you just froze, I think running would be easier, and go better with the whole MK2-MK3 fast paced gameplay style. You know just run right into action and into a combo.
Its just my preferance cause I thought the run button was more useful, but I dont know, I havent enen tried it but from wathing it, it looks kind of annoying,I dont I might be wrong, it might be awosome, I just have to wait and see.
So what do u guys think of the dash? Any good?, or would you prefer if the run button came back.

Yeah, I think the "wait and see" approach is the best way to look at this. Personally, I HATED (still do I guess) the run button when it was introduced and almost never used it. I never got the feel for it I guess, and it seemed to mess with my rhythm. If I needed to get over to someone who was stunned (froze, etc.) I usually just jumped over. But like you said, until you actually get hands on with the feature it's difficult to make a determination either way.

The run button is so overrated to me,I don't understand the infatuation MK fans have with it but hey to each is own.

The run button was one of the key elements that made UMK3 a competitive fighter. But I don't think it would translate well into this game. Maybe it could be used as one of Kabal's special moves and he could have some different options when he's coming out of it.

I despised the run button, it should never return. I prefer dashes, less clunky.

The run button made for better speed and dashing across the screen looks clunky.

It would be cool if they did it like blazblue and king of fighters. Forward forward of course is the standard way to dash, but in those games quick and nibble characters ran and mid to big characters dashed to the opponent. Screw the run button, but id be for it if it was just forward forward like the dash.

I've never heard any advanced player make fun of the run button.

Yeah I don't know where this is coming from.
"Running jabs" were integral to UMK3's pressure game and movement in general.
Well, I've heard plenty, dating way back; likely before UMK3 was considered tourney-worthy.
At any rate, if each character's really going to feel unique in this game, they should have differing walk speeds; that goes for running as well; there are going to be some folks out there moving slower than others, a universal run would feel off to me. Who'd want to run slowly? Better each character has their own unique dash or run suited to their personal gameplay style. Darkstalkers for example is all over this, you've got some folks who can dash through fireballs and projectiles, not to mention mid-air (not that I could see too many MK characters apart from Sindel doing that).
It's down to personal preference I suppose, but a double-tap on the direction stick - which moves the character anyway - seems way more intuitive to me than holding down an extra button as well as forward. But hell, if we really want to run rather than dash, why not make that the double-tap forward/back - or down-forwardx2, if we still want classic commands?

Oh I agree with you, this game is more suited for dashing. But I'm just saying that the run button was a key tactic in UMK3.

This is what I was thinking. I'd rather MK adopt the Tekken control scheme for dashes and running all together.
And that includes canceling.

Nah i always hated the run button. The animations of the run looks more horrid then the stuttering of the dashs. Heak in mk1 they didn't even had dashes. Makes me wonder if they should add like various modes like street fighter had.
You can have:
mk1 syle- no dashs, no run, and can not use xrays, sp enhanced version of specials.
mk2 style- dash, no run, can use enhanced specials, no xrays.
mk3 style- no dash, run button, can use enhanced specials, no xrays.
mk4 style- no dash, run button, can use enhaced specials, xrays.
New mk style- dash, no run button, can use enhanced specials, xrays.
Sounds reasonable. this should be selectable for vs modes, and online match making.

Actually MK2 didn't have dashes either.

Secret character should be Cody Rhodes. MK won't know anything about Dashing until then

true, but mk2 was faster than mk1 so to me it seemed the obvious to include the dash, plus they need a mode that has dash.
