ermac has several very significant, defining characteristics:
- he uses telekinetic powers (had them before kenshi, so he's irrelevant)
- he is made of the souls of fallen warriors, fused together. as such, he refers to himself as "we", "our", etc.
- he has a totally unique appearance
see? he's unique, individual and overall a great character. calling ermac bland and/or terrible is a matter of opinion i guess, but "generic"? he certainly isnt.
li mei however, has the following characteristics:
- special moves consisting of a purple projectile and acrobatic kicks and punches.
- generic purple/pink coloured clothes
- a slave who rebelled against the deadly alliance.
li mei is clearly not a good character. she has just about as generic a moveset as is possible, a bland outfit and appearance and an uninteresting storyline. yes, she could be improved. but that would basically require a total overhaul of her entire character in order to make her unique, in which case nrs might as well just make a brand new character. and there are other (many other) characters who arent in this game who would require MUCH less work done to make them unique.
comparing li mei with ermac is just a bit redundant, imo.

saying somebody is evil doesnt exactly make them generic. mk has always had a kind of straight black/white, good/evil alignment. everybody is either evil or good. the fact that he is many souls fused together, added to his ending from this game which states that his dominant soul is king jerrod, all make his story far more interesting than those of kano or baraka. can shao kahn only have one henchman?

again, you're simplifying his story to the extreme just for the sake of comparing him with another character. you can do that with anybody: SHAO KAHN AND SHINNOK ARE BOTH EVIL, SO THEY'RE THE SAME, HERP DERP.

ermac has totally unique moves, specials, combos, fatalities, etc, in this game. he is one of the most well-rounded, individual characters in this game. because kenshi isnt in this game yet, it is pointless comparing their moves. kenshi will most likely have a brand new moveset, and dya know why? ermac had telekinesis FIRST, it is HIS defining characteristic, and thus he should have all the best telekinesis moves. kenshi is the one who will have to surrender telekinesis and change his style.
oh and btw, i think many people would agree that in this game, ermac is easily one of the best characters gameplay-wise, has some of the best combos, will almost certainly be high-tier and is one of the coolest characters in story mode.

never been relevant, eh? in deception, he single-handedly defeated jax, johnny cage, sonya, kitana AND kung lao, thus freeing them onaga's control. pretty important if you ask me. and that's CANON. without him, there wouldnt have been any of those 5 characters in armageddon.

...yep, very interesting. after reading this last part, i can only assume you must be trolling? i'll go along with it anyway.
just read through the deception ending you're referring to, and guess what? it's not even fucking canon. yep, interesting twist. so interesting midway decided to ignore it in the next game.
there's just no point in comparing these two characters. ermac has her well and truly beat in every respect: appearance, story, gameplay, uniqueness.

I made a Li Mei thread a while back with my idea of what she could look like in MK9. If Kenshi is being added to the roster, I don't see it being that far-fetched for Li Mei to be DLC.

Yeah I'd love to see Bo Rai Cho and Li Mei in the 2D plane... Though we might not get them as DLC because of their lack of popularity, I sure as well hope they make it to the next game...

I wish I could find that one piece of art of her again. It was a concept for her outfit. If I'm not mistaken, she had long black hair, a bandana, her right arm was sleeved, Sais strapped to her legs. Damn, where did I see that one?
