Her 2D actor was caucasian in MK2 and asian in MK3, I think. Even if I'm wrong on the specifics, it was a paler skinned woman that did the female ninjas in those iterations, and they later made her skin darker the same way they changed her clothing color.

Also, Jade's ethnicity/race is NOT Edenian, that would be her species. I don't want to get into the debate of what to call her, but let's be honest here: Liu Kang and Kitana ain't making no babies!

Species pertains to animals :) race accounts for a group of people. I thought jade was a person? lol

2. classification of humans based on physical characteristics

I see where you're coming from now. The site is pretty strict when it comes to racism, so any resulting flame war probably wouldn't last long.

But in the core sense, you're right. It would only take one remark for the thread to fall apart.

Exactly so the whole reason I freaked was because I had a feeling how it would turn out and I was just really cautious about the whole situation. Let's try and get back on topic though. We've deviated far from it I'm afraid lol. With my help unfortunately.
As far as jade looking exactly like some of the photos, I wouldn't be in favor. I like her to have similar features of a few of the pictures, but not so much so that she doesn't have her own unique appearance.

The photos I posted weren't what I wanted her to look like, they were what she looks like currently to me. The images of Jade starting with Deception is what she looks like to me lol. Either way, I'm just excited to see the new look! If they ever post anything within the next 5 years -____- haha.

If we're talking "model likeness used in character concept art" that's something I'm more open to. BioWare used models for the character concepts of Morrigan and Leliana in Dragon Age : Origins as well as using the celebrity Yvonne Strahovski's ikeness in Mass Effect 2 for Miranda Lawson (who she also voiced).

By the way, Street Fighter has their characters nationalities wink Racist is a more a group of people that doesn't accept other races, which is not ur/our case, don't worry.

Almost all fighting games that aren't MK do because all those other fighting games are set solely on Earth and follow a specific list of tropes. There always has to be, like, a Brazillian character and a British character and a character from India and a Japanese schoolgirl, etc.

MK has like 6 to 8 different worlds for characters to come from though, so they can't worry about filling some sort of weird foreign cultures quota, half the cast has to be from Outworld or Netherealm where there is no Britain and there are no schoolgirls.

My whole point is mentioning a certain game character look like a certain origin isn't racist. Not accepting other people's origins is racist. And I'm not referring to you now, I'm clarifying it to everyone in order not to be misunderstood and start a racism topic.

Wow those pics JADEdSCORPION put up were pretty damn accurate ones of jade. Especially the 2nd pic. Jade, Jax, Tanya, Kai, Cyrax, and Darrius are def the black folks in the MK universe. Not to many black females in fighting games... so jade and tanya are def a huge breath of fresh air.

It's great that you could hop on over to Webster's online, but did you read those definitions before you put them up? Humans classify as animals, you know.

Quick question - What species are you? You are a homo sapien, ie. a modern human. Jade is not a human, she is from another dimension, and it is therefore impossible for her to be so, especially considering the thousands of years life expectancy.

Saying Jade is Edenian is the same as saying that you and I are human or that Baraka is Tarkatan or Garfield is a feline. There are many different races within the human species as there is in the Edenian species, and none of them are going to be anything we have here, though characteristics may be similar.

Well we don't know what Edenians call their ethnicities, which is why I said earlier the best you can do is say Jade is "brown". Brown is not a race, or an ethnicity, it is simply a color. And the color of Jade's skin is dark brown.

That said...she does have kind of a wide nose and thick lips in Deception. Facial features that are common or stereotypical to black people. I think the developers consider her "The Edenian version of black" so that's what they think of when they model her.

Jade name comes from a green germ, so we should look for a girl with green eyes like Jade in MK:D. Irina Pantaeva might fit for Li Mei, but still I think Li Mei is much better looking smile

Yeah I read them, and I see where your coming from lol my mistake. I wasn't thinking properly. Been tired all damn day. I got them off my dictionary.com app on my blackberry. Anyhow, I really appreciate you pointing out my brain fart for me bud. I definitely don't wanna falsify any information and confuse the other members. BTW I totally confess that science was not my strong point. World History wasn't either :( I was the math and grammar nerd haha. Anyways I've rambled on long enough. I really appreciate it.

So I don't see the harm in someone saying "I like the way this woman looks, she kinda reminds me of how I'd like to see Jade looking." Without actually saying "Jade should look exactly like this," I'd be inclined to agree, at least in regard to the first picture, or the second for that matter.

I just hope that they can make women's faces a bit softer this time around. Some people might assert that the whole "man face" issue of the past is gone but comparing how rough that picture of Jade looks compared to the picture right above, there still seems to be something missing.

This is how I see it...

Edenia is a world, like Earth is a world. In a world there are many different sorts of people of different ethnicities, races if you will, though I hate to use that term. In Earth we got those of European descent, those of Asian descent, those of African descent etc., which makes us look different from one another, however, we are all humans.

It is the same with Edenia. There are caucasian Edenians and brown-skinned Edenians from what we have seen so far, and they appear much like their Earthrealm counterparts. Which means Jade appears as a woman of African descent.

As to how Jade should look like compared to real-life women, I think JADEdSCORPION is the one with the best suggestion. I don't know who she is, but she is indeed a beautiful woman with dark skin and she resembles Jade from MKD somewhat.

The images posted are of the actress K. D. Aubert. While she really can't act for shit, she is stunningly gorgeous.
