There's not a lot new to discuss, so I decided this might be something fun. For those not familiar with it, Malibu Comics did some Mortal Kombat comics way back in the mid-90s centered around MK1 and MK2. The story was somewhat true to the canon, but introduced new ideas here and there. Among these ideas were a handful of characters scattered through their comics. The ones not canon to the storyline will be the ones I'll list there... before people turn their nose up in a "never going to happen" tone, keep in mind the Chaos and Order storyline might have come from these comics. It isn't anywhere near the same, but the fact it appeared in these comics and then later was adapted for Deception seems a bit too coincidental. Anyway, here are the characters. Pick your favorite!

Abacus - God of Order. Powers unknown, but strives to preserve the law, balance and order of the realms. He lives in a large library that contains books that control the flow of the world. Brother to Zaggot.

Henge - A stone warrior called forth by "the ninjas" to wreck havoc. Made of stone, of course, claims to be from a place called the "Nightmare Realm".

Hydro - A Lin Kuei warrior very similar to Sub-Zero in appearance and power. Accompanies Sub-Zero in MK1. Carries twin katanas on his back and wields water based powers, but this water also can freeze on contact.

Wynd and Rayne - Divine powers that are servants to Raiden.

Siang - The actual chosen warrior by the Temple of Light. Siang is a combination of brothers, Sing and Sang, who possess the power to merge together into this being.

Mikka Stone and Cody Finnigan - Special Forces agents. Mikka wields a pair of katanas, both are humans and fight with martial arts based abilities.

Sylence - Another human Special Forces agent. Fights with ordinary human powers wielding twin daggers. Dark in appearance.

Vapor - Another Special Forces agent. Mysterious woman who never removes her mask. Can fly and pass through solid objects.

Zaggot - God of Chaos. Powerful sorceror who thrives on bringing ruin and chaos to the world. Displayed a number of powers including animating inanimate objects. Brother to Abacus.

Grum - A six armed Shokan hailing from a place called Katala. Wields six nun-chucks.

The Kombatant - A creation of Zaggot's that possesses ability from all seven playable MK1 characters plus Goro and Shang Tsung.

Lt. Lance - Made the journey to Shang Tsung's island with Sonya. Had a robotic arm which he used a bit like Mr. Fantastic.

Ice - Character with a very inspired name. Early Lin Kuei representative from King Jerrod's days. Had an icy monocle and shot an icicle shower.

Torque - Special Forces operative. Had a partially cyborg body... kinda looks like a robotic Stryker honestly.

Bo - Johnny Cage's imposing bodyguard. A large man who uses physical strength as his main power.

Draxxon - An ancient ruler of Outworld wielding a magical sword. Called the "Black Dragon" and heavily involved in Malibu's interpretation of the clan's history.

What a crew huh? Which do you like the best?

I know he is just another Lin Kuei, but I really dig Hydro from the comics. Though there is no need for another ninja, let alone another Sub-Zere character.

But if he was in this, or another MK game, I think he would have good potential.

And What were the names of those two monks from the temple of the order of light that fused? Siying and Siyang or something? Good potential there too.

Edit: Siang. I just went back and read it.

Not in this game, but Zaggot in a future game would be pretty sweet. He has a green beard.

Henge seems pretty cool and could be the Earth character that everyone wants to see.

Some of them just plain make no sense or couldn't possibly fit the canon, like a Shokan having a different number of arms, Johnny needing a bodyguard/letting one tag along, or the Shaolin Temple having someone more powerful than Liu or even being allowed to send two representatives...and Hydro's ripping off Rain's gig and Sub-Zero's clothes at the same time, so fuck him.

But it's actually canon that Chaosrealm was made the way it was by "the God of Chaos", so that character and his opposite number could certainly be worked in somewhere...though I damn sure wouldn't give him the name "Zaggot", that's just way too close to a certain other word.

And Sonya did have a team of Special Forces agents with her when she came to Shang's island. They all got captured, and were executed when she lost the tournament. But they were there.

Sure, why not. Fly larvae. That's what we wouldn't want a character to be associated with. You got it on the first try.
I suppose that's what I get for being subtle.

Siang is a pretty interesting concept. I can't say I like everything about him, but compared against some of the other characters I think he's the most inspired and unique.

Two brothers who merge to form one (and then one brother dies and they're stuck as a half-zombie) is a cool idea.

I just wouldn't have him be a monk as having more than one Shaolin at MK1 contradicts parts of Liu and Kung Lao's stories.

Siang is cool and Ice has a monocle. That's really all there is to it.

I'm not really impressed by any of them, though I like Siang's concept, and the two Gods would be nice as background characters in a future game.

Edit: Actually I just looked at Vapor and Henge. Vapor has a good concept but she looks too much like Vega Blade. I think Henge is the best out of all of them.

If we absolutely had to have one of these characters, I'd go with Siang. Really wish I could find my copies of those comics atm

Does anyone remember that Spawn lookin' bastered from the Kano & Raiden series? He had a sword called the "black dragon" or some stuff like that.

I want that dude in MK9.

Siang. They wouldn't have to stick with the exact story that was created for the characters in the comics, but could stick with the cosmetics, or perhaps use them as starting points and then continue with developing their “costumes” and rework their story, though leave some similarities(if it happened to work with the direction they decided to take the character in the game) Honestly though, I think this move would best suit a later MK game such as one that truly moves the MK story forward after the events of Armageddon have been put to rest.

If you're going to bring up the Malibu comics, I demand that Goro at some point "gets crazy" and uses his BFG.

I like the idea of these characters, but those designs are not what I'd have in mind. Those are names need to go as well.

And maybe I'm still buzzed from the Yun and Yang SSF4 announcement that I'm projecting my love for those characters onto these two. Either way, they need work before they debut in any of the main games.

Hah! You really get an appreciation for how much of a motley crew of misfits and silliness the Malibu characters were when you see them lined up like that. I could honestly say there's not one character I'd want to see in the games, not that about a half dozen or more wouldn't be right at home with some people's vision of the series.

If you stripped Sing/Sang/Siang down to the working parts and rebuilt it a bit sleeker and less intrusive to the canon, you might be able to get an interesting idea out of it. The lords of Order (Abacus) and Chaos (Zaggot) add a Dr. Fate style mythology to those realms we know so little about, which I guess could be fashioned into something interesting. Then there's the likes of Hydro and Ice, the former of which has already developed a strong following in MUGEN circles, and both of whom gel well with the general idea of a uniform Lin Kuei clan. Not sure we really need more silly names, though.

The Kombatant seems like he'd be right at home in the MK3 era of the games, bulging with cyber-absurdity. I'm not sure I could go past Grum for pure, unadulterated XD tongue-in-cheek hilarity, though. Hey, do they ever actually say he's a Shokan? Dude comes from a whole other town and might be of a superior race with SIX ARMS OF TERROR!!! Heaven forbid the Shokan ever produce birth defects, y'know...

They represent the worst of bonehead nineties comics fads, but you might just get the most value out of the various Special Forces characters, who could at least pad out the background of a group who has a nasty habit of looking like a team of three or four. In a scary apocalyptic world where we accept MKSF as part of our canon, maybe they could be the guys who were killed by the Black Dragon. Nice to put names to the faces, eh? I mean, there's always Gemini to fill a group shot!

If there were individual storymodes [or konquest or whatever] I wouldn't mind them showing up for story purposes to interact with. I wouldn't necessarily want them as playable characters.

Btw, Hydro actually predates Rain, but yeah him and Ice sound exactly like Sub-Zero so I'm not to fond of them.

Abacus - God of Order? He had a place back in MK Deception to wet Hotaru's noodle... but right now he should stay out of this.
Henge - Wreak havoc... sounds like some one from Chaos realm to wet Havik's noodle... OUT.
Hydro - Water? Sorry, we've got Rain and The God of Water already. NEXT
Wynd - Sorry, Fujin beat you to it
Rayne - Sorry, the God of Water beat you to it too bud
Mikka Stone / Cody Finnigan - No... but if they remake MK Special Forces hell yes. And they should make it into a respectable 3rd person shooter with a fighting mechanic
Sylence - Same as Mikka and Cody. Keep it for a Special Forces remake
Vapor - Same as above.
Zaggot - God of Chaos? Same answer for Henge. He should only be involved with Abacus is, along with Hotaru and Havik. And for a MK1-MK3 game I just don't see the point.
Grum - Shokan should be 4 arms... so this 6 arm dude? Sorry but this is way too much.
The Kombatant - Sounds like a Shujinko type retard. NO
Lt. Lance - Sounds a little stupid. No thanks.
Ice - Sounds like one of the Cryomancers that Sub-Zero is a descendant of... but we have TWO sub-zeros and frost already. No thanks.
Bo - I don't know about this... I really don't.
Draxxon - We already have two rulers of Outworld. Not sure how his silly sword can explain the black dragon clans history when it already was explained they left the red dragon to form their own faction
The only one found intersting:
Siang - GOOD BYE LIU KANG!! =0
A new hero, and hopefuly not some trash like Shujinko and Taven, is something I'd love to see. And hopefuly a rival of Kung Lao. Two protagonists going head to head.
