"In terms of crossovers with MK, its going to be hard because as the NRS guys have said the Mortal Kombat fans are well... passionate. About blood and violence.

MK Vs SF isn't my favourite crossover idea, mine is Soul Calibur Vs Mortal Kombat. I mean Scorpion Vs Cervantes, Tira Vs Mileena, Nightmare Vs Shang Tsung, Algol Vs Shao Kahn and so on...

Wouldn't mind MK Vs DC2 though. Do it properly though."

I definitely agree with this. People often like to pretend MK should have some sort of grimy "I found this in a dumpster behind an alley and it's covered in coffee grounds" or H.R. Giger art style, like with Proce's fan art...but that ugly variety of grit is not actually what Mortal Kombat is, nor does it ever really look good. It's always just murky and hard to see what's going on when visuals in a game or movie go that route. I guess that works for horror, where you want to obscure things and make the viewer afraid of what might jump out at them from where they can't see, but MK is not a horror franchise, it's an action franchise. MK DOES have a comic booky look to it, and personally, that's what I love.

THANK YOU! I hate when people say Mortal Kombat is gritty. Mortal kombat is hyperbole. It's not realistic or gritty, its colorful and flashy. And that's how it fucking should be

I know they'd both suffer in terms of style and or feel. I don't really care though, it's about damn time they finally let us KILL them. I think this is a fantastic idea all the way around since these are the two franchises that always saw the fanbases go at eachothers necks all the time anyway.

I've been waiting for this prospect to be taken seriously for....well, since about the time Ed first proposed the idea over 10yrs ago. Even before that.

Ooh the shit they used to talk....and they still do!

MKvsSF?

Now please...

Did Daigo Umehara Flash-Kick your mum or something?

But really, I have my doubts. I'd like for this game to happen and all, but I just don't feel that Capcom will be too keen on the idea. MK isn’t that popular in Japan; MvC wasn’t even that popular in Japan. And God knows MK doesn’t have nearly the amount of worldwide recognition Marvel has. I just don’t think Capcom will risk it at this time.

Here’s to hoping, though.

Actually the Cross over game would be developed by both parties.. i see it like this

Namco-Bandai is making Tekken x Street Fighter

and

Capcom is making Street Fighter x Tekken

So basicly where only left with one question. Will Capcon allow Mortal Kombat to Fatality there character in the Netherealm teams game?

And can Capcon verus be a success without the blood guts and gore having MK characteres there.

Overall i like the idea no matter what

I doubt it will be the same deal as TxSF and SFxT. Developing two separate versions is pretty risky as it stands between Namco and Capcom. MK would be even more dangerous considering Japan doesn't even acknowledge it's existence (that's not as hyperbolic as you'd think).

so what if mk vs dc was a failure did yah give it a chance no cause yah were a bunch of whinning babies cause superman was going to be in it i'm just saying that I think mk crossovers would be great rathere than seeing them face off against the same ppl all the time who have no updates to there stories I just think a crossover game is acceptible just not crossover with every brand there is like what street fighter is doing

No. Just no.

Let Mortal Kombat return it's dignity after teen MKA debacle and MK/DC teen fest.

Those series are too different form each other and in case of crossover they both will suffer.

And how exactly would MK vs SF mysteriously travel back in time to invalidate every meager achievement MK had made in the past?

This is exactly what they need for recognition, fuck the blood, enough of gimmics.

After seeing the video of SFx Tekken. Theres really only one way I will be excite for an MK crossover to another fighting game.

If 2 development teams worked togehter. Had a more MK feel for what the MK characters would dish out, and more SF feel for what the SF characters would dish out. Fatlaities would have to be included to M level.

This would include animations when you are hit my a MKL or SF fighter being varied aswell as launch and response mechanics being different for each side. I would NOT want an MK x SF if it were developed purely by Capcom.

I'm wondering if MK will display their characters nationalities like SF (for example Vega from Spain, Chun Li from China, etc).

I'm not completely against the MKvsSF but I so much prefer MK alone, also once MKvsSF project is settled it's going to take like 2 to 3 years to see another MK release. Therefore, MK team instead of increasing their experience with MK alone they'll be giving from their precious time to create an MKvsSF game which is not sure yet to be successful.

Unless this is going to be several MKvsSF projects in the future with "gore" included and a perfect gameplay balance then it will be fine.

No more VS games. Seriously. I already am on the edge of never buying another MK if the upcoming game doesn't deliver, I don't want to wind up hating this franchise.

Mortal Kombat is my favorite game hands down. I would consider myself as true of a fan as there is but I'd actually be down for this game. Even if each company made their own version, I'd probably buy both. Each version would be different and you would just have to take the game as it is and enjoy it for what it is. But the MK version definately needs gore. Lol. And seeing what kind of fatalilties the SF characters get would be pretty badass 2.
Also as for everyone thinking MKvsDCU wasn't worth the MK team's time, I believe it was. I'm pretty sure the game sold pretty well if I'm not mistaken. And also I thought it was fun even though it was different than we are used to.

inevitable? Maybe 10 years ago when there weren't so many VS games but., now there is just so many the idea is getting way to overdone. I rather them stick with dc for the cross over games cause theres too many vs games involving sf or capcom and such. Hell I would love a MK vs KI game instead of sf.

Will I buy it? Probably, but only cause it would be a new game involving MK but not because its a vs game, thats not what would sell the game to me.

Actually, Versus games really hit their stride back in the mid to late 90's if I'm not mistaken. X Men Vs Street Fighter, Marvel Vs Capcom, I mean, that's when these games first originated.

Granted, we have a good deal more of them now with Tatsunoko Vs Capcom, MvC3, MKvsDC and now Street Fighter X Tekken. But I don't think that the timing is bad because I honestly don't think that a game like this would even come out until about 3 years from now anyways given the full plate that both studios have at the moment.

But as for actually wanting this game? I dunno. I might've been excited about the idea back when MK2 and SSF2 were going at it in the arcade, but even then, the art styles were different in terms of SF looking more cartoony, being less on the violence while MK had the digitized characters and the M rated violence.

I just never really saw them as compatible. Now, I know that there exists on Youtube a doctored Street Fighter 4 with Sub Zero in it, but honestly, if they went with that art style for MK, I really wouldn't be a fan.

No, I don't need MK to look "dark" or "gritty," whatever either of those words mean in terms of games these days, I'm really not sure to begin with, but for me, it just boils down to two facts:

1) I don't need to see this game. It would've been cool 15 years ago, but today, given how hard it is to make a game and how long it takes, I just don't need them to smash these two styles together over the course of a long development cycle.

2) If I don't need to see the game, then I'd much rather they both stick with the girl that brought them to the dance. Have the MK team keep making MK games. I actually kind of enjoyed MKvsDC, but the fact that DC characters were in it didn't enhance my enjoyment of the game in any way, shape or form.

To me, it's a novelty idea. A "wouldn't it be cool if" type of deal and while I'm sure it might be nifty to see some of those dream matchups, at the end of the day, I don't want to see either of these series have to sacrafice any of themselves to try and fit in with another series. I simply don't need it.

Though, the Capcom vs. SNK series went on until 2003-2004. And that's not even counting how long the competitive community has kept Versus series' alive.

Depends on how it'll be done... If Capcom would want a good game, they'd make it themselves, like "Street Fighter vs Tekken". What I mean is, they'll take best MK characters (pretty much most from first 3 games) and make a gameplay like in SF4 AND allow real gory fatalities, then sure, it's gonna be a great game. If it's gonna be another teen sh*t with kiddy fatalities, then to hell with it. Don't think we'd want it.
And if Capcom just give Mortal Kombat creators a license to make a MK vs SF on their engine, then it's gonna be helluva fun as usual MK, but with crap gameplay....
So to sum it up: Street Fighter vs Mortal Kombat with SF gameplay, but full uncensored MK gore, then it has all chances to become a damn good game.

I really cant understand people who are dead against any sort of crossover with MK because it will not be keeping with the style of the series. and thus it will be shit.

MK Vs DCU was ironically the best playing 3D Mortal Kombat.

I cant believe people will get that passionate about it. I mean we have Sonic and Mario mix it up. That was a real blood fued. I mean the Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter fued was tame compared to that one.

I dont know if this could ever happen hard core MK players hate street fighter, and street fighter players hate mortal kombat. For me I love them both. People need to put there fanboyism aside and see the truth. My favorite fighter is MK, but lets be real streetfighter has the best fighting engine. there are way more street fighter tournaments the MK ones. If they make this game we could see a revival in tournament MK, this could be one of the top games in EVO

Personaly, I have nothing against crossovers. I can't wait to see what SF vs Tekken will look like... but SF universe and MK universe are totally different and are a terrible fit.
The idea of MK vs DCU was to me completely ridiculous and I still don't understand how it can officially be the 8th game of the saga. The gameplay wasn't so bad but this game was utterly useless to the original MK scenario... so will be the MK vs SF game if, unfortunately, it will be made. It will just make us wait a couple of years to have the next real MK game.
