why not make a 2d mortal kombat with more new playable charecters ,more arenas and more fatalities on a next generation console?
Because i'm sure the majority would prefere 3D.

My dream would be a new 2D MK with UMK3 gameplay, but it has nice crisp graphics that can be done nowadays. But, it probably won't happen.

Also, if Midway put MK1, MK2, MK3, UMK3, and MK4 into one disc and added online play, that is another dream. It could be called Mortal Kombat: Arcade Kompilation.

Hmmmm Im not sure we will ever see MK return to 2D. I love 2D, but video gaming is getting newer and newer, and in that respect 2D is jsut old and boring.

I agree all of the MK's upto Deadly Alliance should be released on one disc, and Id say yes to MK Trilogy 2 type thing with all characters in 2D.

Hopefully, there will be a new 2D MK game for the Nintendo DS or the PSP...

Imagine if they made a virtual reality Mortal Kombat simulation? It would be crazy if you learned certain styles of Martial Arts from your favorite Mortal Kombat character.

I must get back on the subject, I would enjoy another 2-D Mortal Kombat if they revamped the graphics and added a character roster of over 50 characters. I believe that can be done, but the video gaming industry are all aiming for 3-D games.

I think they would clean up if the re-released the old mk's with updated fatals and moves.

I would love an MK 2d as an old school extra.... no real story, no real purpose, justy cause it's fun and I don't want to plug my supernintendo to play MK2... \It'd be like an MKT2... with MK4/DA/D 2d'ed... I think it would be pretty cool... especially if they used it not to build on the actual story, but on character development...

MK3D isnt mk at least it doesnt feel that way mkd is a good game but nothing compared to mk2 and umk3.MK hasnt been the same since it went 3-d plus the mk movies killed the francise into commercalizing and making it look goofy and it was rated pg or pg13 cant remember it should of been rated r but if it was up to me i would never make a movie about the game maybe if it was a indepent one.MK3D just doesnt sit well in my stomach sure the graphics are nice but graphics dont make the game.Gameplay does the fighting engine now is pretty stale and very limited to high combos or creating your own.I love to see a new 2d game but its to late Boon is into mk rpgs and puzzle games its sad really.

PS. you know something is wrong when your switching through channels on saturday morning and you see mk the cartoon subzero is chasing scorpion like the wil e coyote.

A new 2D MK game would be great. They are trying too hard to make the game good in 3D, and it's not working. 2D is simple and more fun. I would be happy with a 2D MK with only 12-16 characters. Too bad they will never do it...sad
