I was thinking a character based on Clint Eastwood in The Good, the Bad and The ugly would be a nice addition to an MK game. They have never done a cowboy, and one with attitude would rock ........

The only question would be his survivability. Picture Clint going up against Quan Chi, Raiden, the Onaga, or even someone like Liu Kang. Who's going to win most of those fights.

There's already a Clint Eastwood-type character kinda if you count Kung Lao. Midway even referred to him as that.

I didnt actually mean Clint Eastwood, I meant a character with his type of personailiy from the Sergio leone trilogy of films such as the the good the bad and the ugly, Clint played the guy with no name,......

A tough guy......with serious attitude, always smoking a cigar......use that persona on a cowboy styled fighter.....he could even be an Outworld styled cowboy....its got potential.. He could fight in street// old skool boxing style.....

"Is it so important that you win one last argument with him?" "No, it is not, but it is true that I will miss the arguments; they were, finally, all that we had."

No. It will never fly, and here's why: it's a needless stereotypne that won't work well in the Mortal Kombat mythos. C'mon, a cowboy? One, the 'traditional' cowboy that Clint Eastwood so often portrays is extinct, having given way to more modern 'hip' mentalities of what a cowboy should be. Two, that kind of character only has one role to play: the unbeatable hero that can do no wrong, and that is something we DON'T need in the series. We HAD a guy like that with Liu Kang, and his story progressed not an inch until they killed his ass. The kind of character that you're talking about is one-dimensional, and that will not fly with most gamers, nowadays, fans or no. We want an INTERESTING character, not a rehash. And besides, I doubt that Outworld even HAS cowboys. Too savage and brutal for even Eastwood-style cowboys to survive one day there.

Street brawlers virtually don't stand a chance, most of the warriors possess suprnatural skills. Even Kobra was lightyears better as a concept than this.

Well, he could be a relative a Johnny Cage. He would have been a big western star back in the day, & he could also posess powers similar to that of Johnny & he could carry a shotgun.......... nope, still wont fly.

why couldnt he have powers ?
he could at least have some type of white flaming fist or something it is possible.
you people are way to narrow minded if he is not a ninja or a hellfire ghost ninja then he cant be in mk. Does he need to have four arms too?

Dude i personaly think it could work.
dont listen to them they cant accept change.

snd thats MK's biggest problem. Almost all the characters have mismatching powers. Jeez, KObra had his Chi blasts, and flaming fists. How in the hell can someone engulf his hand with fire without using flammables?

Sonya had a good move: they replaced the idiotic ring atack with a dust blow move, blinder, better than a projectile anyways. Kano has a laser eye, still fitting. Now this is where the problems come in: Kai had fireballs, oh please, i can understand Liu to use them, but why degrade his already sad uniqueness by having another pseudo shaolin monk rain fire?

Cage's shadow powers are dumb also if you think of it, but I can stomach for one exceptional movie star. And no, don't come with the reply the are superb humans. The whole reason of their existence is that they are mor-tal and human, so the special powers are really misfitting sometimes.

you are nuts the shadow power is sweet.
and the powers that the humans have give the game better gameplay. what do you just want them to kick and punch? thats an entertaining game. if i want that i would go pick up tekken or doa.
it is a fictional game it is not based on life. if it was it would be the most boring game out there. humans need powers that is what really sets them apart from one another. it gives them character and something to look forward to using.

I remember hearing in Johnny Cage's Mortal Kombat 1 bio that he learned the Shadow Kick from masters all over the world.

As for that Clink Eastwood character. I like the rough rugged attitude he has and the cigar in his mouth would be fitting. However... A cowboy in Mortal Kombat does not fit. We have Ninjas, Cyborgs, Vampires, and even Demons but Mortal Kombat takes place during modern times although in different worlds.

I would like to see an Outworld wanderer with Clint Eastwoods attitude, although not a cowboy he would carry that essense in him. Have him wear clothing like Bo Rai Cho's outfit in Deception but touched up and make him rugged. The character could have his hair tied back in a ponytail and he uses a whip for a weapon.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......

Let me improve my previous idea. He could be Cage's half-Native American uncle, a big western movie star back in the day but now he's all washed up. He easedrops on Johnny & learns about the realms & whatnot. He decides to go off on his own, facing this new threat like the characters he used to potray. He could have a "Before I go down, I'll show 'em how it's done" adittude. Special Powers, he could have the knowledge of various Native American incantations & spells such as a rain dance or the ghost dance that was common during the mid to late 19 century. He could also have some sort of gun, like duel six-shooters or a shotgun. Maybe this might work........

As long as it's not an excuse for another stereoptype like Nightwolf or MKDA Jax, then I don't see what's so bad about a Clint Eastwood themed character. First, he'd have to actually look as if he could come from today's world, Nightwolf looks too 18th/19th century (though this is better than his gay disco MK3 blue spandex, but still).

I'd see a cowbow/Clint style fighter as either a vigilante hero (like Kabal was in his MK3 ending, before MKD ruined him), or a member of one of the criminal clans. Who says a cowboy character MUST be a good guy, there were plenty of bad ones, including a lot of the well known ones like Billy the Kid. If MK ever had a character like this, I'd like to see him fight using just hand to hand combat and weapons, no powers, similar to Stryker. I think knives, pistols and maybe dynamite would fit quite well.
