Balaton, as I live(d) there.
Second answer: it was the toasty with scorpion, MK1. [Block]+up,up sweep range if I recall

Oh, God, talk about a long time ago. Definitely Johnny Cage in MKII, at a dinky little arcade in a San Diego strip mall in '94. I mained the hell out of just him and Jax, as I had a thing for the "normal" characters.
I can't remember which Fatality of Cage's I performed first, but again it was from MKII.

Third Question:

Would have to be MK 9. Simply because of the roster, content, and the fighting engine.
Though I do miss items from other games, like Chess Kombat and Motor Kombat.
Tough question Icebaby!
If I had to choose I would say UMK3 for SNES to be specific. Getting off the bus at my neighbors after school and just playing the holy heck out of that game. Loved the controller, select screen, gameplay speed and all the MK goodness.

MK9 definitely hit all new heights in terms of quality, and did so much right. So I'd have to go with that. It also boasts the best roster to date.
UMK3 would have been my answer 4 years ago.

What Mortal Kombat game is your all-time favorite?
I'm sort of tied between MK9 and Deception.
Both games had good story, good fighting mechanics, good characters, loads of kontent. I just wish Deception expanded upon some of the characters, like the whole thing with Evil Raiden and Zombie Liu Kang was sort of .... out there, I'd prefer them to stay as good guys. The story between Darrius and Dairou needed a resolve, because it sounded like they were onto something with the whole "my leader told me to kill my own family " thing, but they sort of went nowhere after that

Favorite MK games? MK2, Deception and MK9. In terms of quality and content, MK9 has to be the undisputed winner.
But I have sweet memories from the other MK games:
MK1 - the groundbreaking use of digitized actors.
UMK3 for Sega Genesis - it's my most played MK game. I'll never forget those improvized MK tournaments at my home.
MK4 - this game probably had the best soundtrack. I just loved the character select screen theme.
MKDA - such a lovely game. Great new characters, like Li Mei, Nitara, and master Bo Rai Cho... The Palace grounds and The Dragonfly - excellent arenas.
MKA - Hated the Kreate a fatality, but kinda liked the KAK feature.

Nostalgia wise MK4 is my favorite. Fujin's Flying Knee was my single favorite move from that game.
Gameplay wise MK9 is beyond contestation as the best playing MK of all time.

I thought MK2 would always be my favorite, but MK9 has surpassed it. Not only that, MK9 also revitalized the entire franchise when it looked to me like it was dead after the piece of garbage that was Armageddon, the insult that was MKvDCU, and Midway's bankruptcy.

Best game I played...I think it's a tie between MKII and MK3. The former because it marked my official induction into the MK universe, and the latter, because I felt like a million dollars whenever I successfully pulled off Sub-Zero's dial-a-combos.
I was not a great player overall and got my butt waxed more often than not, but just the atmosphere of those noisy arcades was awesome in itself. And of course I was right there when MK4 first came out, bugs and all. Kids today don't know what they've missed in regards to the whole video game experience. /old fart
Best in terms of cast of characters/story: Deception, by far.

This is a tough one, I honestly don't think I can pick just one. I have so many memories of playing all of them, but I always find my self going back to the original trilogy more than any other. So for, its a tie between MK1, MK2, and UMK3. I also count Trilogy in there since I played the shit out of that too.

You guys definitely nailed it with MK9. Definitely my favorite MK game as it stands, and maybe all around favorite game of all time... that is till MKX drops.
I still absolutely have an unconditional love for MKII, my baby. It may just have tied up that spot with MK9, but I have to say MK9 because of all the technological advancements / content over it.
I've had a special relationship with each and EVERY MK game to date, yes even Mythologies. I played the living shit out of every MK game the planet has to offer. Even though I loved the 3D ones, I still find myself playing the classic arcade ones.

Mortal Kombat 9. It had everything we as fans wanted for so long; all our favorite characters on a next gen console plus a retelling done incredibly well of the series best games. Before MK9, MK4 was my favorite, it has to many precious memories of my childhood.

It is a close tie between mk2 and mk9. But we did play the hell out of deception in college. But I made up my mind and will go with mk2.

Who was the first ever character you played as?
Surprisingly enough Sonya, who I don't like at all anymore. It was MK1 and I was around 5 at that time. Yes my older brother let me play MK with him when I was 5 and Sonya was the only female I could choose. And being my-flamboyant-5-year-old-self of course I went for her :P
What was the game you performed your first fatality?
I have no idea. At that time the game didn't have move lists when you paused and internet wasn't around, so it was quite hard to perform one. I remember pulling off a few in UMK3 tho when I was a bit older.
What Mortal Kombat game is your all-time favorite?
Deception. I love MK2, UMK3, MK9 but Deception beats them all. Maybe it's the nostalgia, maybe it was the return of Mileena and other characters I loved (Jade, Kabal, Tanya, Ermac, Sindel), maybe it was Konquest that I absolutely loved, maybe the mini games, maybe the Krypt. I just get those feels when I remember myself playing that game. Such good memories :)
