Dead characters that you think will stay dead

Either for MKX, or for good. With Kitana and Kung Lao back, Jax and Shang Tsung (and Liu Kang, whether he died or not) are probably not too far away.

Let's start with the most obvious one: Hsu Hao, if the comics are canon. I'd actually prefer that to not knowing his whereabouts.

Next to him, Moloch, if that was him in Quan Chi's intro, then Stryker and Sindel. Probably Jade, Smoke, Kabal and Nightwolf as well, but their chances of returning in MKX or the next game are greater than the first three characters I've mentioned. But I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see them for a while, since in spite of their popularity (though Nightwolf's is arguable), they've never been treated as core characters by NRS.

This just came to me: I don't think there's any unpopular or minor characters who were killed off and resurrected (not counting compilation games like MKA).

I think they'll all come back to life, but with the exception of Jax, Liu, and the revealed ones, won't be playable.

This. It looked like they were going to be start taking death in MK a bit more seriously. But that was ruined by the end of MK9 lol. They couldn't even keep them dead for ONE game.

Everybody comes back eventually. Who knows, maybe in MK15 they'll have a new demon playable character who was Hsu Hao before he went to Hell.

Given how Sub-Zero was given his flesh body back (this is Kuai Liang, you don't bring Kung Lao and Kitana back from exactly the same place than him without bringing him back too), I think there is a possibility that Jax and Kabal are brought back without their implants which was what made them special and powerful, so they could come back but hang them after that and retire as kombatants. Maybe Stryker retires too with his cop buddy Kabal.

Unless Quan Chi only gave Sub-Zero his body back because his human form powers are better than his cyborg form that loses the warrior instinct (as explained in MK9) so he's more useful as a flesh cryomancer to him (or because he's trying to corrupt him and giving his body back is a favor to gain his trust) but keeps Kabal and Jax with their implants to keep them powerful for his invasion.

I'm gonna have to agree with shadaloo. I thought the remake was to start over fresh but it seems that was a wrong assumption. Not that I mind, I like the characters but I was expecting different.

I don't think any of them will stay dead forever, but there might be a few we don't see this time around. The only one of the MK9 characters that died that I would really want to stay dead is Stryker, I have never liked him and probably never will lol

We will have a Armageddon part 3 game, which includes 80+ characters with individual Fatalities for the PS4 & Xbox1.

From MK9? And to stay dead just through MKX?

Stryker & Sindel.

I've already got Kitana, so Nightwolf, Shang Tsung and Smoke are the only dead characters I want back atm. I would also say Jade, but I can't justify her inclusion, lol.

Hsu Hao. He was unceremoniously killed in a freaking comic. The dude is deader than dead.

As for any other character. No one. No one stays dead in MK. Death is like a time out booth in this series. Nothing more.

Stryker, Nightwolf, Sindel, Kintaro, Motaro for sure. Hell, it wouldn't surprise me if they kill Sheeva off in the comics or mention she died somewhere in-between games.

Shang Tsung I have a strong feeling might miss out on this game. But you never truly know when it comes to MK.

I would have preferred that all characters that died in the Story Mode to stay dead or atleast out of this game. The comic could explain what happened in the Netherrealm War and all but characters need a rest!

But the ones i think that Will stay dead...

But with the return of BOTH Kung Lao and Kitana its hard to say anymore.
The character i wouldn't mind seeing come back because i loved with they did with him in MK9 was Nightwolf. I think he would be the most sensible one to return since he is soo intune with the Spititual World

And that's a damn shame. There's still so many possibilities for the lead villain, but I do have to wonder why (was it Vogel?) an explanation was given on how he didn't perish when Sindel did. Why notify that? At least...prior to MKX release.

Also, yes for Motaro.

No character that has any real fanbase will stay dead. The inclusion of Kitana and Kung Lao make it strange to count anyone as permanently dead, so we're back where we were before--gauging whether or not someone will come back (ever) based off of their popularity.

Hsu Hao? Motherfucker's dead forever. (Even when the whole timeline gets a reboot he still dies immediately.)

Smh. I still get pissed at that. NRS hate for that character is so over the top.
