As a hardcore MK fan I already preordered my hard copy at GameStop and plan to pick it up. I was wondering about this earlier and thought that maybe you guys can help.
So what are the differences anyway besides the obvious? What are the pros and cons for both?
One more question. Can you download the hard copy onto your PS4/XBOXONE or would that be like having two copies of the game. (MKX would be my first physical copy so far, as every other game I currently own are digital copies)

I'm way too hard to not get the hard copy
Sorry...
I am getting the hard copy though. I wasn't sure if I was going to have a PS4 on April 14th and I didn't think switching between systems was an option for pre-ordering online so I just went with EB games. Personally I think there are more advantages to the digital copy though. The only real disadvantages I can think of: you cannot sell the game afterwards and it takes up memory. Whereas the physical copy can be lost, scratched, destroyed or stolen.

All else the same, if you waited until launch to make the choice: a physical disc would more likely install faster than a huge download.
However, this is obsolete by the fact that digital copies usually allow preload before the official launch, and that most games will require downloading of patches. Unless you have a very limited data plan and can't afford to exceed your bandwidth, physical discs don't offer a lot of benefits.
And, if you plan to put ~1000 hours on a disc, that disc will wear out over time. I used to buy multiple copies of select games just because of that. With digital, as long as the store exists, you should be able to download even if your hardware fails and needs to be replaced.

Hard Copy ftw
Digital just isn't something I like too much, I mean if its the only way for me to get a certain game on my current system I wont hesitate to buy digitally, but when presented with the option its hard copy hands down with no hesitation for me.
Digital just doesn't feel right to me, I don't feel like I actually own the game for some reason lol I did digital with the first Darksiders and the DMC HD Collection and I kind of wish I just went with hard copies instead.
The only digital game I am 100% satisfied with purchasing was MK:AK on PS3, because It was the only way for me to play the classics on my PS3 (I don't like to run my Geneses anymore out of fear it will eventually kick the bucket lol) so when that came out it was amazing, I still hope one day NRS will let us purchase it on PS4 too, I would not have any problem with buying it again to play it on my current console.

Normally I prefer a hard copy, but i live in a small town. That means I either have to drive an hour north, or use amazon and wait until around six in the afternoon for it to be delivered. This usually isn't a problem, but with Mortal Kombat my patience goes out the window.

I went digital. The game is fully uploaded, it just needs to be unlocked.

I like owning my stuff so physical.

It's nice with digital you don't have to put the disc in every time....
Also, you don't have to go to store!!!!

I think the same way about feeling like I don't own it, but as I grow closer to my PSN account that goes away more and more lol. The things I buy become apart of my PSN account, with the way of thinking I am trying to convince myself of lol. I don't expect it to go well, but I am going to call SONY about getting my games from my PS3 transferred to my PS4 that I bought digitally.

Physical copy.
All the way.
It looks so much better in my Kollection.
There's also the ability to trade it in later on for the Komplete Edition. Plus I'm limited on data, so huge downloads are a no-go.

Ditto. With anything MK for me, patience is definitely a virtue.
Thanks guys, good feed back. I'm getting the hard copy either way because I WANT to own a physical copy of MKX but in the event that my game does break, gets scratched or stolen, you bet your Twinkies I'm getting buying the digital copy in a heartbeat. Going back to the store? "Ain't nobody got time for that!"
I'd be super salty though. I'm talking bout that Kosher salt lol

This. I want the game at midnight but none of my local stores are doing midnight sales that I know of. I'll buy the physical when the Komplete version is out.

Will those asses let you change your username yet? I kind of started to not like my original PS3 PSN so I had to make a new one and start fresh with PS4 lol I don't see why that cant just let us pay a fee and change it?
But yeah im like that with most things, movies, albums, anime , comics, video games you name it, I need physical copies, I can do digital music without much problem since a lot of artists release singles for free and digital only but I always prefer a hard copy lol

You're right about that bro. Physical copy of MKX definitely looks better in a collection. Like I said, all of my games so far are digital but I'm looking forward to adding the hard copies of Tekken 7, SFV and Batman: Arkham Knight along with my MKX!
I love fighting games and I'm a huge Batman fan haha

I despise digital. Physical it is.
You can't sell a digital copy. That's why I always choose the hard copy unless it's late and I'm really fucking bored. That's how I bought evolve. I do enjoy it but it's definitely a game I wish I could sell when I'm done with it. MKX will be the same way. Sure it's probably got great replayablity but you'll get tired of it someday and want to buy another game.

Plus it doesn't hurt that my local Gamestop is five minutes away from my house and that's walking distance plus I have a car so...Yeah time used is basically non existent.
Also i'm getting The Gamestop Limited Edition so you know I have to put that special case on display
Yes I understand that digital is the way of the future and developers would eventually like to phase out physical copies because it would save them money in the long run.
Though as long as we have Gamestop around I don't think they would allow that to happen unless Gamestop started doing some futuristic trade in program that involves digital copies.

Lmao I haven't tried because it doesn't bother me too much it makes the little kid inside me laugh... mine is still "reppingthenips" from a CoD clan named "nips" I had with some buddies awhile back. I doubt they would, anyone I know that has talked to any customer support representatives from SONY have had bad things to say.
I think I would still prefer a hard copy of any of that stuff too, but I will always go with the digital copy if it is a significantly better deal (which every now and again it is).
