"I have waited for an Eternity" sounds like Shinnok. "I stand watch for Eternity" sounds more like a good character or a dark character with skewed good intentions (the latter is unlikely).

Oh, shit, didn't read correctly.

Raiden confirmed. Pack it up, people. wow

Not that I want the Firespawn back, but the tagline sounds "Something old, more male than female, guarding something perhaps?" Hopefully it's Fujin. The Wind God deserves some more attention

I'm hoping for Fujin, expecting Raiden.

Sounds exactly like Raiden, it seems like the only right answer for whoever would say "I stand watch for eternity". I can't wait to see his updated look, his variations, and his play style. I loved how Raiden looked in MK9, but I couldn't get into his play style.

But Raiden doesn't really watch. He guides and advises, flat out fights and gets involved. I'm probably being overly particular though.

If it is Raiden, I won't mind. He is a cool character and I'd want to see what they can do with him, this time around. Samurai attire would suit him well.

These two could be a possibility as well. Others that it could be are Shinnok, Fujin, Ashrah or even the woman in Jades ending. Also add Jarrod and Argus.

I think most of us are aware it could be an entirely new character...we're just not banking on that being the case this time around. tongue

At least I'm not. lol

Guarantee "I stand watch for eternity" is the last sentence of an intro dialogue of the character being revealed.

Perhaps it is two characters being revealed and the reveal is a trailer of the fight. My guess is Raiden or Fujin fighting Shinnok (probably more so Raiden).
The dialogue would be as follows:

Raiden: "I banished you long ago, I will do it again"
Shinnok: "I will rule Earthrealm for an eternity"
Raiden: "I stand watch for eternity" ..Or something along those lines

I just think Ed is going to hype the new characters as much as possible because he's been waiting to kill off the roster and make a bunch of new shit since like 2006 and is finally getting to do it. D'Vorah and Ferra/Torr are practically all he talked about at E3, he was so fucking excited about them (even though they're clearly goofy monster characters like Baraka and Nitara that'll never be as cool as Kotal or Cassie...y'know...in my opinion. wink)

Plus, if you remember the way character reveals for MK9 went, it was like pulling fuckin' teeth even to get simple shit like character renders. We were so unfairly starved for info that people were debating ridiculous shit like whether or not Stryker and Sheeva would even be in the game despite the game being a remake of Trilogy, and we had no idea what Smoke would look like, until literally like one month before the fuckin' game came out and even THEN it was only because of leaks, not deliberate studio releases. Ed loves to tease and keep secrets about characters that aren't even fucking secret characters for as long as he possibly can.

Granted, they've gotten a lot better about how they do their PR since then with Injustice, and we could very well get someone like Raiden on Saturday, I'm just saying it wouldn't surprise me if Ed rolled out all the new guys first and made us wait as long as possible to show anyone we actually recognize.

Ed's trolling is annoying as fuck, but-and it'll sound anathema to some-we also share the blame for that. We're the most impatient bunch on the planet.
I'm tired of watching MK fans go positively apeshit at EVERY little thing Boon or NRS says that MIGHT allude to something that may or may not be in the games. It happens with basically every new release.

Every other tweet I see to his account amounts to "will such-and-such be in MKX? How many characters will there be?" Enough already. Do you expect to be told straight up what you're getting for Christmas? It's the same principle.

Very highly unlikely.

There'd be rioting in the streets if he did that. smile

I don't agree with the idea that the MAIN ROSTER should be considered a "Christmas present".

Granted I understand that it's not good to show a character until the devs have had time to finish and polish them enough to make the material worthy of BEING shown, and I don't think the roster should be revealed all at once because that leaves nothing to get people to stay hyped while we wait for the game to come out.

But if you still have question marks about who's on the select screen at launch date, I consider that bad advertising, maybe even false advertising.

Being secretive should only be used for SECRET characters and SECRET features like babalities or what's in the krypt or if the Living Forest tree can eat people this time or whatever, things that are SUPPOSED to be a surprise you don't know you're getting until the game is out and you find them yourself.

But if you have 24 slots on the BASE select screen and 12 months until the game comes out, guess what, you better be giving the fansites two new jpegs a month. That's just plain math.

I know everyone who's in Smash or Tekken or Street Fighter when the game is released and there was never a drought where I was waiting a long time to see a new reveal with those games, especially the Smash Bros. series, their website has always been the high standard to which I hold everybody else when it comes to having reveals on a regular schedule when a game is pending...less so currently than when Brawl was on the way, but that I chalk up to the game itself suffering delays. But point is, I don't see why MK9 had to be so bad at the simple act of informing the consumer of what they're buying.

Oh, I agree completely that NRS have been dicks themselves when it comes to releasing new game information.
Hell, we didn't even officially get Ermac, Goro and Sonya for MK9 until some dope at NRS decided to post pictures of himself posing alongside their renders.

It has to be either: Fujin, Raiden, or Shinnok.
Some God character, or perhaps a snippet from the story mode where Raiden officially backs off from being Earth's Protector.

I agree, but sadly it'll never end. The fans just want something to talk about until the next reveal. I don't like it either, but I see why it happens. There's some things that are fun to speculate, like the E3 select screen. Except when people literally think that some of those characters that are jokes will be in the game. Or expecting joke characters to return because that specific person is a fan of that ridiculous character that has a 1% chance of returning (Shujinko..). Also speculating the boss has probably been my least favorite thing i've seen speculated on for MKX on the site. I think we should just start a thread of how annoying some speculations are haha.

Shujinko's not a joke character, he's one of the most major elements of the post-MK3 lore and Raiden's changes didn't derail his plot. He and Onaga might not be playable characters in this game, if they find some way to explain why in 25 whole years, he fails to collect that last one or two kamidogu he doesn't have yet, but a cameo or an appearance in MK11 isn't out of the question.

Here's the problem, people are so goddamn impatient that it becomes really sad to see. I'm perfectly fine waiting a while for something, even if it means that the forums move slow and hardly has any thing interesting to talk about. But when news finally shows up, and the eighty-something people come flooding back just to talk, that stuff is fun to see.

I dislike the people who have to constantly ask if their favorite character will return or how many new/old characters are we expecting, if an area will be returning, as well as what the story is going to be like. Why can't some people just be patient and wait for a reveal rather than going directly to Boon himself to ask? And why they think he'll just give an answer like that is beyond me. I rather have things get revealed at a slower pace rather than having every single freaking thing out and we have to wait six + months for the game to get out.

I just don't see them revisiting Shujinko and Onaga in MKX. Plus it would need Reptile to become the host, again, which I don't seem them revisiting again. It's just too much of a repeat which Boon doesn't seem to want to do with this game. That's just why I don't see Shujinko returning, maybe he'd make a small appearance.

Not really, there are multiple ways Onaga can resurrect, that one was just the way Deadly Alliance played it out.

the only thing that's NECESSARY for his resurrection is for Shujinko to collect all the Kamidogus...and he already had 4 out of 6 before MK1 even happened, so that SHOULD still be true given the way Raiden's time message is SUPPOSED to have worked (not that that stopped them from fucking up origin stories like Mileena's...)
