Hello everyone! This is the very first time I've posted on any message board even though I've lurked on many, including this one, for the past few months. So, I'll probably end up making a couple of mistakes, having long posts, and giving my posts crappy titles.
I haven't played a Mortal Kombat since Mortal Kombat 2. I played the first 2 Mortal Kombat games and I sucked at them. They were the most frustrating games I've ever played. What intrigued me was the characters and storylines. I still try to keep even up with them though I may have lost touch. I plan on playing both Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance and Deception in the future.
I want to discuss Frost. None of this is spoiler just speculation. I BELIEVE FROST IS THE LITTLE SISTER OF SUB-ZERO AND NOOB-SAIBOT. Before anyone flames me, let me point out that I already know that Ed Boon said that she isn't. However, many characters' storylines have changed. Whose to say Frost's won't? (Weak argument, I know)
These are the facts that I know:
1. Sub-zero and Noob-saibot had a younger sister.
2. Kori (ice) powers are passed down from generation to generation.
3. The 2 Sub-zero brothers were separated from their mother and sister by their father and, partly, the Lin Kuei.
Frost can easily fit into these:
1. She is portrayed as being young in both looks and personality. She looks a lot younger than Sub-zero, but that can be because of the medallion he wears. * I assume Noob-saibot is ageless?*
2. She has kori powers. Not anyone can have this power without it meaning something.
3.Seeing as how the brothers were children at the time, I'm guessing Frost was a baby. Sub-zero would have no way of recognizing her. I wouldn't be surprised if training with the Lin Kuei helped them forget their childhood.
At this point, y'all probably thinking: OMG!! IS THIS THE BEST YOU CAN COME UP WITH?!!!
Well...hold on to your seats 'cause you ain't read nothing yet!
I'm going to start with Frost's mother and take it from there.........
Frost's mother knew of her husband's occupation and the Lin Kuei's plans for her 2 sons. I think that both boys had started showing signs of having kori powers and were to be trained. Out of fear, she fled to America and tried to live a peaceful life with her 3 children. This doesn't last long because the husband comes and takes the boys and leaves his wife and daughter. She had to have been devastated. What mother who loved her children wouldn't be? She moves again. I also believe that Frost was a baby during this time. Not wanting to relive that moment in her life or trying to forget the past altogether, she doesn't tell Frost about her father or brothers. Frost begans to show the same signs the boys did of having powers. She goes through a lot of trouble to prevent this, but is unsuccessful. To stop her daughter from following her father's and brother's footsteps, she tells her the truth (or a half-truth?). Judging by Frost's personality, she probably thought her powers were cool but listened to her mom anyway. She's probably taught to fight as to take her attention away from her kori powers. Some time later, her mom dies out of illness. To be more dramatic, perhaps Frost accidently killed her using her kori powers or someone else killed her. She no longer has her mother to keep her from using her powers. She tracks down Sub-zero and the Lin Kuei. Is she trying to take everything that belongs to Sub-zero? Is she out for revenge against him and the Lin Kuei? Or is she simply a young woman trying to connect to the only family she has left?
*I have to stop right here due to a bad thunderstorm but I'll continue later*

This'll probably be moved to the Future Games discussion, but welcome to MKO.
I too think Frost is the long-lost younger sister of Sub-Zero and Noob Saibot, for more or less the same reasons you posted. I agree, it really isn't impossible to assume they'll "forget" they confirmed Frost is not Sub-Zero's sister.
I wonder how much about her past and relationship with Sub-Zero(if any) Frost actually knew about, which is why I was interested in her and her story.
I think Frost will play a role in the Sub-Zero/Noob Saibot situation, whether she really is dead or not.

WOW!! My First Reply!!! Thank You!!!!
I like that you agree with me. I'm not finish with my speculation yet due to this storm. I hope it passes soon.
I want to include a part concerning Sub-zero and how this could possibly affect his story. If anything, it could add some more depth, conflict, and drama.
P.S.
Love your stories. They're excellent! Especially "Kitana's Redemption." I liked in the beginning how she wasn't portrayed as the perfect little princess who can do no wrong.
I liked "Reiko and Sareena." I'm curious but what exactly was their connection supposed to be in the game before it was dropped? I also agree that the Shao Kahn controversary helped mess up his character. Looking forward to seeing Sareena in another Mortal Kombat game.
I am patiently waiting for the upcoming story between Jade and Tanya. I like both characters and hope their backgrounds and rivalry are fleshed out.
I'm also interested in the "The Forgotten Warriors." It's ashame these warriors weren't incorporated in the game more. Please inclue Skarlett.

Good Idea, I never thought of that possiblilty. There is a small problem though, Frost is dead. They would have to think of something really good in order for her to come back and personally I hope they do. Only time will tell.

OMG! Frost is Dead?!
Great....there goes my idea
Why did they kill her off so early?
What was the point of giving Sub-zero a student who could have very easily turned out to be his sister and only putting her in one game?
It took me a long time to think about this theory and I am not even finished yet
I know Sub-zero has alot of story right now, but as I explained before this could add conflict to him. I'll give a better explanation later.
Oops where are my manners
Thank you for replying!

I'm continuing with Part 2 of my discussion even though I just found out that Frost is dead.
Hopefully, they'll think of a good reason to bring her back. Though I am a bit tired of the resurrections.
I think that Frost may be a pawn, or better yet, a trump card being played by either: 1. Shang Tsung, 2. Quan chi, 3. Shinnok, or 4.Shao Kahn.
1. As far as I'm concerned, Shang Tsung is the master of deception and manipulation. I always wondered what he did to warrant the Lin Kuei to send both Sub-zeros to assasinate him during MKI and MK2. I wouldn't put it past him to pose as some stranger who coincidently knew of her heritage and taught her to use her powers. I also think that maybe he killed her mother while posed as some member of the Lin Kuei.
2. I don't really know much about Quan chi's powers. I do know he was the main reason why Scorpion and Sub-zero became enemies. It's possible that he knew a lot about Sub-zero's family. He poisoned her mind with the ugly truth of how her father and the Lin Kuei tore her family apart. He tells her of Sub-zero whereabouts. He also trains her to make sure she makes it inside the Lin Kuei.
3. He might want revenge against Sub-zero for playing a part in ruining his plans in MK4. Basically the same as Quan chi's. Then again, maybe he's interested in Sub-zero's amulet and the power it may contain? He lost a lot of power and needs a new source.
4. I personally think this is a long shot, but being from Outworld, Shao Kahn finds out that, along with Sub-zero, Frost is a descendant of a race from Outworld. Perhaps he wants to use to keep an eye on Sub-zero to make sure that he doesn't find out anymore information.
When Frost found out the truth, whether it was through her mother or any of the aforementioned villains, it left her confused and vulnerable. So many questions, yet so little answers. It's only logical that she would fall into a mind trap.
I don't see her playing the fool for long, though. As much as she is being used, she is using them too. She is learning more about Sub-zero, the Lin Kuei, and her powers.
The only problems/questions are:
1. When was she trained to fight and use her kori powers?
2. Who told her the truth?
3. Timeline... When could any of these scenarios could have taken place? For example, I could see Number 3 and 4 happening between MK4 and Deadly Alliamce.
Sub-zero's part coming soon!

In the production art section of MK: D, there is a picture of a level called the Frozen Catacombs. It's description says that you will play this in a future game. I think this is also where Sub-Zero buried Frost. So if this level comes true for MK7 then Frost might get ressurected.

Thank you for the information, but unfortunately I don't have the game and it's gonna be awhile before I can get it.
Pitiful....Deadly Alliance came out in 2002 and I just decided I wanted only for it to be sold out at the local stores.

Death means nothing in MK. Look how many characters have been "killed" at one point, only to return, either with explanations to how they survived, or worse, pretending their deaths never happened ("cough", Johnny Cage).
I agree that Frost has a lot of potential, and I'd like to see her back in another game. She's different to most of the typical "ninja" women, and could go either good, bad or just neutral easily. Just give her some more unique special moves next time round.

I also agree, Frost shouldn't have been killed off like she was. She should definetly return in MK7, along with:
Hsu Hao and Movado (even though I personally didn't like the two...but having the Red Dragon around would add to the storyline just incase they go for a "War of the Realms" type thing with all the groups out for ultimate power), Rain (revamped of course and on the Edenian side), Reptile and Khameleon (bring the Raptor race back to full force, have an army of them to combat enemies), Sektor (have his Tekunin up and running and out for control), Kano (have him alongside Kabal, Kira, and Kobra...the Black Dragon).
They always throw away great storyline potential like Frost.
Hope she returns.

Welcome to MKO, illandra86.
Don't stop creating these brilliant ideas. They're really deep.
By the way, Frost may not be dead! Sure, the majority of people here obviously believe that she is, but the only references to her supposed death are her Ending and Sub-Zero's Bio in Deception, which both similarly state...
"Lacking the strength and discipline required to control the medallion's immense power, she was consumed by her own freezing ability."
This is a very vague statement of her "death", if at all. Sub-Zero placed her in a sarcophagus in the Frozen Catacombs, where he also discovered his ancestral armor. The bodies in the catacombs are those of ancient cryomancers, probably existing long prior to the Lin Kuei. There is no doubt in my mind that Frost is not dead, but merely "hibernating"... And the souls of her ancestors may revive her. I really like your theories, though.

When did she die? All I remember is reading that she was frozen solid after her attempt at taking the Dragon Medalion. Maybe I missed it in some of the concept sketch notes or something, but if anybody can point it out maybe then I can think up a theory on this whole situation.

Like I said, SmokeNc-017... It has never been specifically stated, which is why I believe that she is not dead.

You are right about that. You may be on to something here because they never said that he actually buried her, they only said that he took her there TOO be burried but he found the armor. After that they never even mentioned Frost's name again. No wonder I was so confused about his Bio when I first bought MKD.

Yeah, I thought so. Because I don't ever remember them saying that she was killed, in either ending.
I'd really like to see her return, I thought she had great potential, but a bit spoiled in terms of attitude.

Welcome to insanity, illandra86! Stay a while....... if you dare!
Didn't she die when she froze over? Of course, you wouldn't die if you were trapped in a block of ice, you would just be killed by hypothermia & frostbite. But it doesen't matter. Like Red_Dragon said, death means nothing in MK (example: Lui Kang).

I hihgly doubt that a criomancer would die of hypothermia from their own power, even if it was augmented by the powers of the Dragon Medallion.

SPOILERS... In Sub-Zero's Alternate Bio...
"I laid Frost's body in a sarcophagus and left the catacombs, donning the armor of my newly discovered heritage."
Just thought I'd tip you off there, no nasties intended.

I personally thought her attitude and personality were unique, though slightly similar to the arrogance of Kobra. That may be a factor as to why she was bumped... Who knows. She definitely showed traits of rebellion and irrational thought, which easily associates themselves with modern teenagers... My point is that she would have fitted most players perfectly. If only, though.

If they're going to have her return, here's what I would say:
Sifu Sub-Zero left her for dead, burying her in the Frozen Catacombs of Outworld. Though it's true that he was not able to feel Frost's pulse, she was in fact not truly dead - merely cryogenically frozen, consumed by her own freezing powers amplified by the Dragon Amulet. When she did come back to life, after all this time, she had barely aged at all - while Sifu Sub-Zero was old and dying.
This is how they could retire Sub-Zero and Frost could replace him. Also, her personality would have undoubtedly matured by her near-death experience, although she would still have traces of her old self :)

Here's a bit of advice when typing on the forums. If you feel like being sarcastic......don't. Beacuse most of the time it won't come through like that.

Thanks everyone for replying!
I'm really liking it here so far.
I just believe that Frost can grow to be a lot more than just a "Sub-zero rip-off."
I liked many of your ideas, too.
It also makes no sense how a person who controls ice can be frozen to death

She could be dead she could not be dead ! It's a mystrey. Like they said in Mortal Kombat Deadly Allince it didn;t say if she was good or evil. I personly think she'll come back in one of the new Mortal Kombat games as an evil character.

To illandra86, I want to say bless you for starting this thread!!!
It pays great tribute to my fav mk babe Frost!
also for someone who hasn't played MKDA and MKD, you sure have a lot of good ideas... hopefully some of them will stick!
I was truly sad when I found out that Frost was 'killed' in MKDA, but I firmly believe that she has great storyline potential. Hopefully enough for the MK team to bring her back.
To me she is anything but a Sub-zero clone! anyone who played her and know her storyline would see this.
For her storyline(If she does return), I do hope that they form an amalgamation of all the ideas I've read in this thread coz most of them are pretty good.
Lastly...
Frost should retain her look with her Icy short hair. Her 2 MKDA costumes rocked let's see how they top that look. Her Ice powers should remain, added with maybe ice projectiles... also I really liked her MKDA fighting styles... all of them.
Frost is truly a great character with a lot of storyline potential and I sincerely hope that the MK Team will bring her back in the next MK.

There are a lot of questions left unanswered about Frost's past I'd like to see resolved. I think it'd be stupid if they wrote her off as just some random Cryomancer decendent who happened to run into Sub-Zero.
I think Frost can come back, whether she is dead or not.
This was a bio I wrote for her for my MK7 storyline:
"Even my master could see my power. When he held the tournament for his new Lin Kuei, I stood in a league all by myself. He knew my potential, that's why he trained me himself. But I could see he was trying to hold me back. 'You must learn discipline,' he'd say. But I knew the truth. He was afraid I would surpass him.
"When I joined him into Outworld to fight the Deadly Alliance, I again proved my skill. But he still insisted on holding me back. I knew I was destined for greatness, so I decided to take it for myself. When my chance came, I snatched his Dragon Medallion to absorb it's power.
"And what power it had. I felt it surge through me. As my Kori power began to consume me, I almost thought I made a terrible mistake. I even felt a little scared. But it was not my end. The Medallion only unleashed my true power, my body just needed time to adjust to it. Apparently my master thought me dead, because when I awoke, I was entombed within some ancient temple in Outworld. After escaping my grave, I entered the temple where I have learned my true heritage.
"I always believed I was destined for greatness, now I know it. The Medallion opened my eyes. I tasted the power it could give me and I want more. I must have it all for myself. I return to the Lin Kuei pretending I have no memory of the whole thing and play the 'helpful student' a while longer. My master is a sympathetic fool. He still believes he can change me and he is too distracted by his other enemies. He will not suspect me.
"No, my only concern is the Demon woman, Sareena. She suspects me I can see. I'll have to deal with her before I take the power I deserve..."
Based off the hibernation theory.
Or...
if Frost really was killed trying to steal the Medallion, they could say betraying Sub-Zero tainted her soul with evil (if it wasn't already tainted.....for all we know Frost was already a killer before she even met Sub-Zero) and she decended into the Netherealm where she was met by Noob Saibot. Seeing a potential ally and weapon against his brother, Noob could recruit Frost for his new Brotherhood of Shadow.
Or....
She could be found and revived by Sektor's Tekunin......not saying that's the way they should go, but that is a possibility.
There are a few ways Frost can come back and I hope she does.
I think Frost can come back, whether she is dead or not.
