Glad you loved this thread!
I also love Frost's icy blue hair. It makes her stand out. There are many brunettes in Mortal Kombat. It's nice to have a "bluenette" for a change

I like your MK7 bio for Frost. However, I'm not sure if want her to be a completely evil character.
I kind of want her to stay in the grey area. Neutral. I don't want to be told that she's evil. I kind of want to keep guessing her true motives. Of course, there are the obvious unanswered questions such as, "How did she find out about Sub-zero?"
I can totally see her ending up in the Netherrealm and teaming up with Noob-saibot.
Even for revenge, I don't see Frost giving up her humanity and becoming a cyborg. She has too much pride and self-confidence, I think. However, I do see Sector finding out about her possible relationship with Sub-zero, kidnapping her, and forcing her into becoming a cyborg.
I still think she is either working with or being used by one of the villains mentioned earlier in this thread for reasons already explained. I'm not buying that she just happened to bump in Sub-zero, either. Too coincidental and contrived.

If they're going to have her return, here's what I would say:
Sifu Sub-Zero left her for dead, burying her in the Frozen Catacombs of Outworld. Though it's true that he was not able to feel Frost's pulse, she was in fact not truly dead - merely cryogenically frozen, consumed by her own freezing powers amplified by the Dragon Amulet. When she did come back to life, after all this time, she had barely aged at all - while Sifu Sub-Zero was old and dying.
This is how they could retire Sub-Zero and Frost could replace him. Also, her personality would have undoubtedly matured by her near-death experience, although she would still have traces of her old self :)

Well, I don't think Sub-Zero is going to go out that easily, especially due to something like age. From the way it seems, I think he's going to have a long life span, especially with the power enhancements from the Dragon Medallion and his ancestral armor. I wouldn't want any character to replace Sub-Zero.
As for Frost, I like her and would like to see her return. I feel that she has a lot of potential and that her storyline can go in many different directions. I'm sure she isn't really dead and that she'll probably pull a Kabal with the whole "thought to have been killed" type thing which I don't particularly mind for her.

I'm sorry that I took so long to post this, but I was on vacation and lost track of time. You know how that is.
Well here is Part 3 of my discussion featuring Sub-zero and possibly Noob-saibot, Smoke, and Sektor:
Sub-zero obviously doesn't know that Frost is his long-lost sister. Whether he simply forgot about her, was told by his father that she and his mother were dead, or the Lin Kuei trained him(along with other Lin Kuei members) into forsaking his past(his real name, for example) is anyone's guess. However, this doesn't mean that he didn't feel some sort of connection between them.
I think he held the tournament to not only find recruits for the new Lin Kuei, but also for a student who would later become his successor. Afterall, he's not getting any younger due to being rapidly aged caused by the medallion's power. He discovered Frost during his tournament and was impressed by her power and skill. I'm guessing she is only other person in the Lin Kuei who has kori powers. As promised, the winner (Frost) became his apprentice. He noticed that while she is a decent fighter, she has an attitude/personality problem. So, he takes it upon himself to teach her discipline and humility. Perhaps her behavior reminded of the way his older brother used to be and he tries to prevent her from allowing her arrogance to be her downfall. He figured, with time, she could grow to become the type of leader that was needed for the Lin Kuei.
He failed. Driven by her lust for power, she tries to steal his medallion. She succeeds only to be frozen by the medallion due to its massive power and her inability to control it. He bears no grudge against her as he gives her a proper burial. He blames himself more than he blames her for not seeing through her scheme and not being able to help her. So much potential wasted. Around this time, he discovers that his ancestors came from Outworld.
*To tell you the truth, I'm not sure what to think of there being an entire race of cryomancers. I kinda liked the idea of him being a human from Earth with powers, like a superhero or something. I'm not sure if I would like the idea of a bunch of Sub-zero like people running around Outworld. However I am willing to accept this new development; I'm interested to see where it leads.*
Frost would fit in perfectly with storylines involving Sub-zero/Noob-saibot/Smoke/Sareena/Sektor/Lin Kuei.
Noob-Saibot:
If Frost is dead, then chances are she's gonna end up in the Netherrealm. Seriously, who doesn't end up in the Netherrealm? This is where she meets Noob-saibot. Whether he knows her relationship to him or not doesn't matter. I doubt he would care anyway seeing as he has forsaken his family. He would definately use her as a weapon to cause Sub-zero pain. Is he still a member of the Brotherhood of Shadows? If so, he makes her a member with the condition that she is loyal to him and him only. Her thirst for revenge against Sub-zero makes her the perfect ally. I also thinks that he may drop Smoke and keep Frost as his partner from now on to help carry out his plans.
Smoke:
1. Smoke breaks away from Noob-saibot's control over him. While under Noob's control, he finds out Noob's true identity. He reaches Frost first and tells her of Noob's plot. Noob's plan must not come to fruition. Learning from her that she was once a student of Sub-zero's, he wants to reveal the truth to Sub-zero but needs her help to find him. Needing his help to escape from the Netherrealm, she reluctantly helps him.
2. Smoke is stil under Noob's influence. He watches helplessly as Noob-saibot corrupts Frost and plans to use her against his longtime friend, Sub-zero. This all changes, however, when he discovers that Frost isn't just Sub-zero's former student, but is also his sister. This reveal strengthens his resolve to break free from Noob-saibot. His soul, or what was left of it, screamed at him to find a way to free them both from Noob before it was too late. He would not let Frost fall prey to the same pitiful fate as he. No matter what it took, he would reunite both brother and sister. For Sub-zero. For Frost. For himself.
*I don't know why but I've always had the idea of Frost and Sub-zero being reunited by Smoke. He was friends with Sub-zero, partner(or whipping boy) with Noob-saibot, and possible savior of Frost. I could see him and Frost develop a friendship under Noob's control. It could also give him a meaningful storyline when he regains control of himself and his life.*
Sektor:
From what I've read, it appears to me that they're setting up Sektor and Sub-zero as enemies. He failed to get the medallion, so he decides to build a cyborg army known as the Tekunin. He finds a very much alive Frost. Having Sub-zero and the Lin Kuei destroyed by one of their own would be sweet revenge. He kidnaps Frost and forces her into becoming one of his cyborgs.
*I've stated before that I believe that as impetious as Frost is, I don't think she would willingly allow herself to become a cyborg no matter how much she craves power.*
Sub-Zero:
When Sub-zero finds out about her identity, it would add even more drama and conflict to his many relationships and storylines.
1. He may want to give her another chance in the Lin Kuei. The problem is the Lin Kuei no longer trust her and may want her executed for her betrayal. He's caught in the middle. He has to choose between being a big brother to Frost and being considered a weak leader who has lost the respect of his students or he has to be a strong leader and have her banished, if not executed. Could he really turn his back on either Frost or the Lin Kuei?
2. It's bad enough that he has to deal with the Noob-saibot is really his brother reveal. But finding out that his former student was his sister and may want revenge against him makes this even worst. Will he be forced to consider Frost an enemy? Will he be able to save her?
3. He has so many enemies who would jump at the chance to use Frost against him. Will he be able to protect her and the Lin Kuei? So many enemies, but only one Sub-zero.
4. He may want to know even more about their heritage. Are they the last descendants? Why were they born on Earth and not Outworld?
5. He has allies, such as the Raiden, who may consider her a traitor and want nothing to do with her. How can she be accepted?
6. Sareena and Frost do not get along. Both are suspicious of the other and are jealous of the attention Sub-zero gives the other. Can he trust one over the other if the opportunity presented itself?
7. Instead of killing Frost, the medallion gave her a power boost. However, like with Sub-zero, there was a side effect. Instead of aging, her body was frozen for a period of time. Her arrogance increased along with her powers. Will Sub-zero be able to tame her before it's too late?
8. He also has to face his personal issues. He has to deal with what the Lin Kuei put his family through. Can he trust her not betray him again? Will they be able to reclaim the same relationship they had before the betrayal?
9. Frost and her past. How did she find him? What are her motives? Was their meeting a coincidence or was it planned? How long have she known the truth?
10. He could go back to training her to be his successor. Can he really entrust the Lin Kuei's welfare to Frost? In her hands, will it continue to stand for honor or will it revert back to its old, corrupt ways?
There are so many possibilities with her being his sister as opposed to some random cryomancer who just happens to encounter him.
It makes no sense for them to kill Frost off, then introduce another cryomancer to be Sub-zero's sister.
Bottom line: Frost is either the long-lost sister or she's the biggest red herring in the game.

This would make for a nice fan-fic, but really, it's all just theory and make-believe. Only evil people go to the netherrealm. Frost wasn't evil, she just craved power. There. I just put a nice hole in your plot. Smoke was rejected from netherrealm, that part is true. Maybe he goes back to the Lin Kuei. But Kintaro died. Didn't he go to the netherrealm? Why isn't he back?

I guess you learn something new every day because I assumed that just about anyone who died ended up in the Netherrealm somehow
.
I also wouldn't go as far as to say that information has a poked a hole in my theory. She's probably not dead anyway...just frozen. Cryogenically speaking. It's probably taking her body awhile to adjust to her exposure to the medallion's power. Someone finds her and the rest of the story can unfold from there.
I think the 3 biggest factors in her story are:
1. Is she dead or not? Maybe she's just frozen?
2. How does she really feels about Sub-zero? Does she resent or respect him?
3. What is her real motive?
Because there are so many unanswered questions the possibilities for her are endless and her story could go anywhere. Now, if only the writers, or whoever is in charge of the storylines, would bring her back and write for her.
BTW, I'm not a fanfic writer by any means and I HATE my English Composition classes

I think that by now, most people would already have an inkling that there is going to be a free-for-all in the netherealm in mk7 or mk8, but sooner rather than later. Scorpion needs a new direction, as he needs to revert to his vindictive self. Sub has been built up over the past few games for something, and it is time he finally accomplishes his first goal in MK, to find his lost brother. Quan and noob will round off the main players. Sareena will be there, as she has immense potential in that situation, having ties to both subs-- interestin to see where she turns to. Ashrah and smoke, as well as some oni should be present too.
Which brings me to Frost. I seriously doubt that she is dead. It is quite telling that midway omits any conclusive evidence of her supposed death. Hibernation, as many before me have stated, is more likely. I am betting that she will return, although I cannot be toos ure which way she will turn. She could join the brotherhood(even in death she could do this), be a loose cannon and individual agent, attracted to the medallion's power(even though she is not sure she can control it); or she could repent due to sub's mercy towards her. I expect a combination of those scenarios, with a probable turn to evil at the start.

just as long as they bring her back similar to they way she was in MKDA! good or bad wouldn't really matter to me!
however I would like it if she did turn out to be sub-zero's sister like illandra86 pointed out!

Dead or Alive (sorry just had to put that in there), I think Frost will eventually come face to face with Noob-Saibot. She will have to choose whether to walk a path to redemption (Sub-Zero) or revenge (Noob-Saibot). I'm interested in which she will choose. You're right..she might just take some time out for herself, though.
I also hope the writers don't screw up the upcoming Netherrealm story. They should have all of the characters needed involved as much as possible: Sub-Zero, Noob-Saibot, Smoke, Sareena, and Frost (hopefully). Possible characters are Scorpion, Sektor, and Quan chi.
I just think the writers have a damn good character (storyline wise) and they are letting her slip through their fingers.
*It wouldn't make sense to kill her off and introduce another cryomancer and have her be Sub-zero's sister when it could have been Frost all along.*
Thanks for the feedback!

It is a simple given that scorpion and quanchi will be there. I still feel that quanchi's turning and running when raiden was going to go kaboom was a hint at his survival. No sense having scorpion if the guy he wants to kill just became collateral damage. Sektor is a probable, but not as much as subzero, noob, smoke, sareena, scorpion, quanchi, frost and perhaps even ashrah. I expect to see kia and her sis as well, and perhaps even moloch and drahmin. As I said, frost is a lot like sareena in that situation, because they both have almost unlimited leeway. Sareena is the only character to have favourable prior interactions with both subzeros, and it will be fun to see where her loyalties lie. With frost, it is practically impossible to scrrew her part up, unless they leave her out.
If they have trouble explaining her survival, something which I will never expect them to have, they can have her inducted into the Brotherhood on the basis of her anger, pride and shame. If they have her surviving being a frosticle, they can either have her repent, join noob anyway, or be a loose cannon in that situation, somethine like what ashrah woiuld be, seeing that she would prob try off smoke and sareena. Throw in the fact that she could be related to both subzeros and you have a great situation.

Thanks. I forgot about Ashrah. Does anyone think that her story would have been better if they made her a goddess or Elder Goddess who had a past with Shinnok (not romantically). I mean maybe she was involved in the war that happened so many millenia ago and could possibly shed more light on the Kamigodou and the One Being. Then again, she could have been a former champion of the Elder Gods who died, or was imprisoned in the Netherrealm or was sent there to slay demons . I just feel that they could have given her story to Sareena. Because if Ashrah finally kills Noob-saibot (which I highly doubt will happen), her kriss is gone and she's free. Wouldn't that be the end of her story? Then again, maybe her story would have been better if her target had been Scorpion instead of Noob-saibot. Isn't he from the Netherrealm, too?
Are Kia and Jataaka dead? If not, perhaps they're the ones hiding Quan chi while he's recuperating from Raiden's attack? I don't think Quan chi' s dead, either.
Whatever happened to Moloch and Drahmin, anyway??
I don't think they would make a big impact on the Netherrealm storyline.
Anyone Believe Reiko Could Possibly Play A Role? Afterall, he was mentioned to have had a connection to Sareena before the Reiko/Shao Kahn debate. Since they love to retcon storylines a lot, why not just drop the Shao Kahn connection and bring Reiko back? He deserves another chance.
*What exactly was his connection to Sareena supposed to be? Was he supposed to be a relative, friend, lover, or enemy? Does anyone know??

Well, I doubt that frost can pull off being an elder goddess. On Ashrah, while an inherently "good" character, as in on the moral side of things, she is important, as she would attack members on both sides, like noob's brotherhood, as well as sareena and smoke. Ashrah's use in the story is simple. She illustrates the thin line between good and evil, and the ease of passage between the two. Smoke isnt evil, but he sure as hell isnt a bona fide hero, and he has tick-tocked between both sides frequently enough to raise a few questions. Sareena is the same, and both will be attacked by Ashrah IMO. Her brand of pure justice untempered by emotional judgement just tells everyone that characters in MK are rarely one-sided, rarely purely good or purely evil, and allows gamers to decide if redemption and repentance is enough for characters like smoke and sareena.
Noob saibot is sure to get a huge power boost for the next game. He is currently the most faceted character in MK, even if people do not know it. Ruthlessly evil, but yet I do not believe that noob is totally beyond redemption. As subzero, he resented his fate and tried to avoid it, but yet allowed Scorpion his revenge, condemning subzero to the very fate that he had asked raiden the means to escape. I do not believe that he will be overcome by martial prowess alone. I expect his time in the limelight to last a couple of games at least. He will defnitely clash with the younger subzero, and will prob hammer scorpion as well-- he may enjoy his life after death, but that does not mean that he remembers being killed very fondly. Stopping him will take either a superhuman effort, a sacrifice, or a turn of heart.
Where would frost fit? The permutations are endless. I would see her primarily as an agent of evil or a neutral force, attracted there by the people and things involved. IN life or death, she can play a major part in that situation, and if midway knows how to do anything right, they will get that done. I expect to see character swings from her, and I would not expect her to be completely moral or completely evil.
Quanchi is a given to return. The Oni are a different story, but it is already certain that they will be present, as hired muscle at least, for they are the most vicious inhabitants of the netherealm. Why introduce new Oni when you already have two ready made ones in Moloch and Drahmin? A single new introduction of an Oni would suffice in that case-- 3 Oni in one game is a lot! Besides, I belive a certain undead spectre wants his rematch with them. Quanchi would never come unguarded.
Noob saibot is sure to get a huge power boost for the next game. He is currently the most faceted character in MK, even if people do not know it.

I was disappointed at first when I heard Ashrah's story, since it sounded painfully similar to Sareena. However, I think Ashrah can still be used to develope Sareena's story.
Since Sareena is a Demon and a former assassin for Quan Chi, Ashrah will probably assume she's evil and try to kill her. However, once Ashrah learns Sareena turned on Quan Chi and hated the Netherealm, I think she'll see a reflection in her and offer to help her.
If you want to get deeper with Ashrah, according to her MK:D bios she was forced to kill her own sisters. Wouldn't she have tried to get them to join her? Maybe she did and they wouldn't listen. So for Ashrah, helping Sareena would be personal since she wouldn't want to fail Sareena like she did her sisters.
I believe Ashrah will be one of the factors that tries to sway Sareena towards good. Since Sareena wants freedom, Ashrah can tell her of the Kriss which would free her. And in a way, it's beneficial that Ashrah's story is "finished," because now she is living proof Sareena can achieve her goals.
I don't think Kia and Jataaka are dead. Their return is unlikely, since they're pretty unknown, but if they did return I'm sure they'd probably be Quan Chi's vengeance against Ashrah and Sareena.
Or if they join Noob Saibot....they'd still be used against Ashrah, but for Sareena it'll depend on Noob's plans for her.
And as for Reiko....his connection to Sareena was never developed. All they said was he had some sort of connection to her, which really could be anything. If you look at them, you could notice a slight resemblence; similar black marks on their face and black & white hair.
I've always said if he returns I'd like them to drop his Shao Kahn connections and go back to Sareena.

I think Frost's death could perhaps best be used for story and tightening the web of destiny around certain characters.
For Example, tying Sub-Zero and Scorpion even more together, and giving Scorpion more reason to serve the Elder Gods.
Scorpion, in the netherrealm, sees what looks, from a distance, to be Sub-Zero. Breaking into a run to see what has become of his arch-nemesis, he finds instead a beautiful young girl, most likely of his lineage. Still guilty about his killing of Sub-Zero's innocent brother, and most likely wanting to end the fued between him and their clan, Scorpion takes the arrogant young ninja-ko under his proverbial wing, lessening her arrogance by using his fire powers and strength in the netherrealm to overpower her easily in every sparring match they have.
Soon enough, Sub-Zero has found himself some measure of peace, that ith his family so irreprably taken from him, he'd never believed he could find. Training herhe begins to take her on as a daughter figure, but he regrets having to keep her in hiding, for association with him would lead her to be marked for death by Quan-Chi and his ilk.
However, upon becoming the Elder Gods' champion, Scorpion at last is able to allow Frost to wander freely, and Scorpion even asks the Elder Gods to restore her to life, as she is, otherwise, as a condition of servitude.

I do feel that Ashrah would be better served as a neutral character in the netherealm brawl. It is obvious that she would find enemies on both sides, the brotherhood on one, and sareena and possibly smoke on the other. I see Ashrah persecuting Sareena for sure. What I cannot see is whether Sareena is on noob's side (romance factors here) or on younger sub's side. Ashrah cannot make that choice easily, and it leads to a lot of interesting double entrendes for us. Ashrah's actions make Sareena's involvement resonate further, and I have no doubt that her part will be a lot more important that to serve as an example of how demons can ascend to a more moral status.
I do not see any connection between Reiko and Sareena. They never interacted in the story. A hint from midway is not enough to establish a link between tham, for their hints have been baseless before. Just like LK's supposed shady past. Looking a little alike is not enough either.
Frost would play very nicely into the subplot between Sareena, Ashrah and the rest. I am guessing that she will either be evil or neutral. The actions adn reactions between Frost and Sareena, as well as Ashrah's resultant actions could give us a great story by itself. Throwing in noob, subzero and quanchi makes everythinge ven more complex.

Does anyone think that Shinnok will play a role, big or small, in the Netherrealm storyline? What happened to him anyway? I think this could bring him back into the game somehow. He could come back as a playable character. Of course, they would have to drop his morphing ability, though. I mentioned before that I thought Frost may have been working for or with somebody. *My theories are mentioned on the first page.* But the more I think about it, the more I believe it could either be Quan chi or Shinnok. Does anyone else think that she is working for or with someone else?
To mindripper:
I said that Ashrah, not Frost, should have probably been an Elder Goddess who had a past a with Shinnok. She could have shed light on the whole One Being thing and the war that happened many millenia ago. Or she could have been a former champion of the Elder Gods who was imprisoned or banished to the Netherrealm. There she became a Demon huntress. For some reason, I like the idea of her target being Scorpion as opposed to Noob. Like the hunter becomes the hunted. Scorpion has always done the chasing, lets see him get chased for awhile.
I can see how her current story could help Sareena, but I still think that her story is too close to Sareena's. I also don't want Ashrah to kill Noob-Saibot even if he's already dead. The only thing about her story that I like is that she looks completely different than Sareena, Kia, and Jataaka. In fact, the complete opposite. She is covered in white and gold. The other girls are dressed in black and show a lot of skin.
To XiahouDun84:
As for Reiko and Sareena, is it okay to say that you think they're siblings? I thought all members of the Brotherhood of the Shadow wore those weird markings on their bodies? Was it revealed what realm or race they were from? They should have kept Reiko Shinnok's general than to make him Shao Kahn's general. When did that happen? I know that they wanted to resolve the whole Shao Kahn/Reiko debate, but they could have done a way better job of it. Reiko being Shao Kahn's general who sneaks around and wears his helmet is just plain stupid. It really dumbed down the character. Who could take him seriously after that reveal?
With that said, I think that his MK4 endings could still work. Was it ever revealed what realm he used to rule? We all, including myself, just assumed that it was Outworld. Maybe he was once the ruler of either Seido or Chaosrealm. He and Sareena could have came from either realms. He probably fell out of power, or was defeated, and began regaining his power by working for Shinnok. He becomes general. This puts him against Sareena. Didn't she die trying to defeat Shinnok or was she banished to the Netherrealm where she became a demon? Anyway, Reiko dies in the war against Raiden and eventually becomes a member of the Brothehood of Shadow. A rivalry could have started between Quan chi and Reiko.
I think the character of Reiko can still be salvaged, maybe he's the one to bring Shinnok back.
What does everyone think about Reiko and Shinnok being involved?

It's nice to see that there are a few Frost fans out there. Personally, she is my favorite characters (and I have been playin since MK2 so thats no small feat).
I thought she was a great new character. We knew very little about her she was an enigma, which is good IMO. Unfortunately, with enigmatic characters you always wanna know more and I was hoping to see her in MKD just so I could learn a little more about her. Then I find out they apparently "killed her off."
My only two ideas for her return were:
- She wasn't dead only frozen
- The temple Sub-Zero left her in somehow regenerates her.
What makes Frost so great is that her character can go either way...she could wake up and attempt some form of redemption. (I betrayed Sub-Zero but he was right I didn't have the discipline to control that much power. He trained me himself and trusted me and I betrayed him). or she could be evil (I tasted absolute power and I want to have that power all to myself). Either way it's freaking cool and I hope that she does return in the next game.

Yeah, I think the black facial marks and black/white hair are Demon traits since Kia and Jataaka also have them. In fact, I bet before Ashrah purified herself she too had those traits.
Those are interesting ideas for Reiko and Sareena. I agree, they could still salvage Reiko if they drop the Shao Kahn garbage. The side missions in Konquest aren't canon so they could ignore Reiko's Dress-Like-Kahn fetish.
I wouldn't mind Shinnok playing a part in this. I imagine he'd be more than pissed Quan Chi betrayed him.
If Shinnok came back, there are a lot of directions he could go.

Frost rules. I thought she was a well designed character.
Find a way to kill off Sub Zero and replace him with Frost would be my choice if I had one.
