It would not be the first time he did it and ironically enough it was for the same character. Adam Urbano said you could fight Cassie Cage as Johnny Cage at GamesCom in August 2014. That was about six months ago.

Lord I'm ready for some video of the man in action. I like the vest he's wearing it's nice to see them finally take a change in his costume. The tuxedo is brilliant and hilarious but I've always wanted an alternate that has a more intimidating look.

The press embargo doesn't allow any media outlets to release the footage they acquired at the conference UNTIL NRS or WB gives the go ahead. This is so announcements such as Johnny Cage's inclusion in the game can still be released by WB for maximum marketing potential. They want to release info at a time where as many eyes as possible will see it. That interview, being released, breaks the agreement made between the media and NRS.

^ So are they also not allowed to talk about what they saw? We shouldn't expect even written impressions or blogged descriptions?

no, only the shadowkick and nutcracker, but they're incorporated differently into the moveset than when johnny uses them. so its not the same.

So Johnny can put himself in a position to brutally slaughter his own daughter?

Also, I hope we see a Seido trained Cage based on his 2011 ending.

We've been able to use him to brutally murder his wife(sonya) since 1992(well they werent married then, but still) so i don't see the big deal

*Sigh...* I'm okay, for now... with Johnny Cage being in the game. (As much as I feel that him being in at all is kind of a waste of a character slot, I'll be okay.)

But if they put Sonya Blade in this game, I'm going to be pissed. That'll be 2 perfectly nice character slots for either someone new, or a character from previous installments.

I think it'd be cool to see Havik. Or Bo Rai Cho even. But for the love of god, we already have our Special Forces Jacqui Briggs, and Cassie Cage. Don't waste another slot, even if the slot isn't entirely official yet.

Next Characters I think would be cool to see are

Li Mei,
Fujin,
Jarek,
Reiko,
Cyrax,
Sektor.
And finally the big bad boss.

About the "slaughter" of the children....

I'm thinking the difference this time is that the offspring are the total emphasis of this game. So it's kinda consistently on your mind whereas with Kitana and Sindel, the connection was established for storyline deets and to further character development. It wasn't the MAIN point of those games.

My hunch. Also, Kitana wasn't exactly raised by Sindel. So they're relationship was rather limited. The comics have pretty much established that Sonya and Johnny both had a heavy hand in raising their daughter.

Correct. I'm expecting an official Cage and Kenshi reveal very soon, perhaps a preview of Chapter 1 in story mode as well. Once that happens we'll be flooded with GDC coverage.

No because that is still related to the press. In a review embargo, the reviewers are not allowed any media forms of the review, whether in video form or written. This is obviously press embargoed which means nobody gets to even discuss the event unless they want to be blacklisted and other negative consequences.

They let people play the first chapter of the story mode and NRS wants fans questions regarding the story for the next KombatKast stream. Coincidence? I do not think so. I think that in the next stream they will answer questions and show us the first chapter of the story mode like at GDC. Revealing Johnny Cage as well. Not that I am aware of.

Not to be a negative nancy.... but we have been talking about johnny cage nonstop for almost a week now.... I wish they would just officially announce him and show gameplay footage so we can move on to other characters.. Anyone who played mk9 and saw the ending should have expected Johnny and Sonya to be in this game...

Imagine how many hits IGN got the morning Reptile was revealed. We didn't know it'd be Reptile other than Boon's pbvious twitter clues. Even with that, just by saying IGN has an exclusive deal on x date means people will look. They want the same attention for Cage's and possibly Kenshi's reveal. They get this by giving a date in advance and pointing people towards a new reveal. Simply because we know there's Cage in the game doesn't mean the majority of MK fans know he's coming. They want a big reveal.
