I think this puts to rest the rumors that Shinnok or Liu Kang would be the final boss aka "big bad" if they are playable from the start. I doubt they would make the same mistake twice by having Shinnok as a playable boss.

I'm a little surprised by Liu Kang's appearance. I was half expecting him to have a burned/scarred appearance.
