Yes I'd love to see his morphing come back. But I think it would be very difficult do now. But I would welcome it's return. i also thik MK:DA gave him sime individuality in that he didn't morph. He became a more stated character IMO.

Shang Tsung just isn't the same without the ability to morph, or at least mimic his opponent's fighting styles. That was a big part of what made the Shang man who he is. If they can't give him actual shape shifting, then maybe have him like Edge Master in Soul calibur, able to use everyone's styles. A while ago, I wrote up an idea on him stealing Shujinko's soul, and gaining his power back like this, after being weakened during MKD.

Since he's dead, he has to gain power from the netherrealm. Shang Tsungs morphing ability should be to use othwers moves against them, so Midway could use the following idea:

-only morph into those who are unlocked,
-when morphing, Shang Tsung should quickly burn up in a pyre to change into the next model -save time, swap model, looks good, strategical game advantage etc...
-give Shang Move stealing when morphing for a bit of time (just like MK2-MK3 days) and leave specific special moves for Shujinko and style stealing
or style copying also.

I think that would make a great (additional along with the originals) fatality. He would morph into the opponent and use their fatality againts them.

Or he should have his own separate soul bar when he is able to use only a limited amount of morphs and a limited amount of time until he eventually runs out of souls. That would be a fair, easy, and fun thing to add to Shang.

Or the original morph and/or stance would be nice too, but that seems like too much work.

Obviously him morphing would be good- i think the reason they didn't have it on ps2 is because have a "morph" you'd need some general character model with parameters to morph into each character (and 2 textures, or animation between them)- rather than modelling each guy comletely separately. I reckon even if they'd done that, or even just used a puff of smoke and switch character models, you'd need to load up the new model- even if it preloaded ready for the next morph, you couldn't rely on the cd to load within a certain time....

Anyway i digress- it would be nice to see. Even if they just had a between- round scene where he changes it would be better than nothing.

i really want his shapeshifting morph back caz thats what i see in shangtsung tome a different animation would be too good sorywise that would fit in lets say he tries to outsmart someone by morphing him poofing into a person doesnt seem to good to me

I used to know all his MKII morphs many years ago, and he's a fun character like that. Can't remember shit now though - Damn old age!

I would love for Shang Tsung to have his morphing ability come back! That's the whole idea behind Shang, I hated that they couldn't do it in Deadly Alliance.

The Unreal 3 engine would make it easier for that to do because of the engines flexibility. But I just don't have enough faith in the MK team to actually put enough care into adding that into the game. In theory, the could've done that in Deadly Alliance, at least then it would've made the last fight with Tsung feel more like a boss fight. I mean, if the guys at Namco could make Kazuya morph into Devil at the PS2's life cycle, there is no excuse for the MK team to cut out Tsung's morph in DA.

Hell yes Shang needs the morph. He should copy (and I put the important ones in all caps) MOVES, APPEARANCE, ALL 3 STYLES and SPECIALS or it shouldnt be done at all. but midway hasnt been trying lately (anyone played MKD?) and i dont expect much

Shang Tsung is not Shang Tsung without his morphing ability. I wouldn't care if it was like how his morphing ability was on the Playstation as long as he at least had some kind of morph.

Yup. His styles would remain the same, but he would have access to the morphed characters specials. Imagine Shang Tsung with cages spllit and with a tiny push of his snake stance fingers inflicting reat pain on the enemies balls.

I'm probably the only one who doesn't want his morphing in. This issue has been addressed so many times now. And I've said the same thing also. He does not need to morph. Shang Tsung is his own character and if I want to play as the others, I'll pick them. In MKDA, he is top tier or near top and he proved he did not need morphs to hold his own in Kombat. Plus, I had always hated Shang before MKDA. I found him useless with the morphs and without them he was so much better.

I think giving him morphs would limit him too and I wouldn't want that. though if he had them I wouldn't mind. As long as he retained the ability to have his own specials and styles wth full command lists, then I'd be happy. Though given tiers, many would simply morph into the best overall characters and abuse their moves and styles. Shang was so much more fun without the morphs and I think to take that away from him now would be silly. We know he can morph. He doesn't need to do it in game for it to be apart of him.

Think about this: Shang Tsung needs to have his styles (don't change during morphs) and his specials (don't change during morphs) and if morphed, he could have the specials of the given character. Thi way they could only get the specials. So no whoring out the styles.

I think he should have his own fighting style and special moves, but then also have the morphing ability from the old games.

He should also be able to do morph combos or be able to do a short style change without morphing. Like extra stances with a few attacks. If he morphs in to the other character, he can use "many" of their attacks not all.

So he would morph in to someone else, but still have his own style using the moves of the character he changed in to and his own like a hybrid style instead of a full copy.


Keeping him original even if he is a copy cat.

I think that would also get rid of "he's just a copy of other fighters" complaint that some might have.

Of course I would love to have the old shang tsung back. I was a bit disapointed when they made his thing about sorcery when everyone knows his thing is about morphing.So yah I would like to see them do that in the next game.
