Okay this is a tough question for me, since I like all 3 characters! I have my likes of each one, however I have some dislikes as well. But beggers can't be choosers now can they? Anyway, here is why I would consider each one is a candidate on why they should not be in the next game:
Scorpion, the ninja spectre, has a very good storyline. Coming from his feud with the original Sub-Zero to his feud with Quan Chi shows a very smooth transition. The fact that still remains is that he still maintains the reason why he has this huge vendetta which is his family's murder. Its still the main reason, eventhough its pretty much seemed a non factor now. Also, he has one of the coolest weapons I have ever seen. I'm talking about the Spear of course. That spear can do some good damage when incorporated with combos (believe me I hve been on the receiving end of it plenty of time). However, someone stated this eariler, he's becoming extremely overrated. He has been in every game and its becoming boring to keep seeing him in each game. I think he should miss a game or two just to keep some interest in him.
Sub Zero, now again with the storyline, I liked how he took the role of Sub zero after his older brother became Noob and how he became an ally to the earth forces. Also, he is very incorporated with others stroylines as well (one of the many things I really look at), he's associated with Scorpion, Frost, Hotaru and others. Plus, he's a great contrast to Scorpion, fight fire with ice, maybe it was intend in the beginning, but it gave some options. However, is it just me or did he age very rapidly??? I mean here he was in MK3 and Trilogy as younger Sub-Zero, then 10 years later in MKDA, he looked like he aged rapidly from where he was before and in MKD he barely had hair! Also, just like Scorpion, he's becoming overrated. He's been in every game, plus had on of his own. He needs a break
Ermac, now here's one I find extremely interesting. Unlike the other two, he hasn't been in a lot of games, which make his popularity grow a bit more. I like his storyline in MKD along with his moves. He also switched teams as well, now helping the earthrealm warriors too. The downside of Ermac for me, was that I just saw him as another clone of ninjas with a different color on and that he really had no purpose. MKD kinda changed my mind about him a little bit, but not that much. I mean, he has telekinetic powers and all, but so does Kenshi. I think at times Ermac is getting a really short end of the stick here when it come to having something original about him (or maybe I'm missing something here).
I dunno, I always go into detail about questions like this, but hey these are my opinions. I try to include as much of my knowledge of MK into my responses. But if it were me, I would let both Scorpion and Sub Zero take a break and let Ermac have some growth. However I do like all 3 characters.
