Good episode.

I have to say my most wanted for MKX is Fujin. The guy is just ripe with potential in every area. Gameplay, story, and design the guy has every chance to be awesome and get the respect he so rightfully deserves.

Variation wise, he has a lot to work with. One variation could see him using Air Dashes for increased mobility (a first for the series), another could see him using wind to pull his opponents closer, and the third could be the crossbow.

Now, I'm usually not a fan of the crossbow. But for the variation system I'll make an exception.

I too would like to see Fujin on the roster. Your reasons are good, I like your variations.

The wind dash is interesting. It would allow Fujin to close distances fast and create a nice rush down class. The dash would differ inherently from Smoke's teleport/dash from MK9 where smoke could dodge projectile's with his smoke-dash. Fujin would not be able to dodge projectiles while dashing.

I think he should have a defensive variation (most likely with his wind pull attack's that you mentioned) Where if timed correctly fujin could blow projectiles away from his body or even back at the opponent when the defensive manuever is Powered Up

The passion to make a podcast is important and the patience required is also significant. You guys are quite the entertaining bunch.


Reptile - His beginning as a character always made him come off to me as a mysterious warrior. I feel like he could be a welcomed edition to MKX if he was more of a loner this time around and less of a henchman. Gameplay, I'm not too big on it at really, I'm hardly a competition for some people here I'm sure. Story-wise however, if he spent his time cloaked lurking in the shadows awaiting his chance to strike and not beckoning to any sort of "master", I'd say my taste for Reptile would easily be less foul.


Bo' Rai Cho - His character in MKX I feel would be in a depressed and drunken state judging by how awful the Mortal Kombat tournament events turned out this time around. I don't see why they can't tone down the toilet humor just enough to be likable and give him revamped moves to be more of a martial artists instead of a joke. "Drunk fat-guy," is sadly the exact thing you think when you see him. He should be more of a warrior in my opinion considering his heritage as an Outworld native. Drop the farting gimmick, make him a bad-ass drunken warrior, give him better moves, don't waste POTENTIAL.


Sareena - I don't have much to say for this character but that's more my fault than the characters. I never learned much of her history or personality. The idea Razor had for her arms transforming into monstrous claws and what-not sounds like it's pretty cool honestly, but her character design seems a little bland to me nonetheless. She never really shined (to me) like the other characters. But that's once again not really her fault.


Li Mei - Her introduction as a character is tragic. I feel that she should be a good-guy instead of a victim-turned evil. Don't get me wrong, she should commit crimes/murder in the name of the Deadly Alliance, but I think somewhere along the line she should discover her fate is to be nothing more than a pawn in their evil schemes and have redemption for her mistakes.


Shujinko - This is a funny one here. I don't want to see him back playable mostly due to him never having original moves or fighting styles. If he's in the next game at all, I only want it to be in the form of his name being mentioned. Possibly mentioning his death- why not?

It's possible that "goth chick" is an acquired taste, but I really can't imagine a more interesting look for a female character than that...and I can't imagine how to make someone more "that" than Sareena already is.

She's got skunk-stripe hair, tattoos on her face and arms, black lipstick, and a skimpy outfit made of black leather/PVC. Where else do you go with it? I mean, you could load her face up with piercings maybe, but even fewer people are into the full-on "Suicide Girls model" look... Perhaps more belts/bondage gear?

Sareena and Reiko should return in my opinion. NRS could implement them in as brother and sister separated at birth, considering they both have the same paint/tattoo designs on their face around their eyes.

As for the initial post (Ep.3), I will comment on it after I watch it.

They have the same hair-stripes and eye markings because they're both servants of Quan Chi, altered by his magic. Sindel has them too because she was resurrected by him.

Reiko was born in Outworld, died serving Shao Kahn, went to Hell, and became a wraith like Noob Saibot. Sareena is a demon born in Hell. They can't be related.

In regards to the "most anticipated returning character request":



Specifically, I'd like to hear what you think about her pretty significant retcon and if you see any merit towards her current backstory. I've talked about it in the past but to recap the positives I see:

- She's often described as "childlike" but her few lines of dialogue to me sound more maniacally deranged.

- I see her poised more as a "Joker-esque" femme fatale lunatic character now which still has potential.

I had Mileena on my list (because if Kotal's going for the throne, it raises the question of where is Kahn's heir? And if this game is about introducing fighters' offspring/the next generation, do her and Baraka get to have a kid?), but I think I was the only one.

I'm sure we'll talk about her retconned backstory in a character retrospective for either her or Kitana at the end of a future episode.

Was Reiko part of the Top 10?

Just a lil idea for Bo Rai Cho would to give him a parry variation similar to Kano's.

I love martial arts movies and it seems like when the good guy goes up against a gang of opponents he always perform parries and counter hits that are bat shit crazy.

Afraid not. Shadaloo voted for him...I would have too, but I was just gonna wait and see if we were doing "honorable mentions", and if so, I'd have lumped every Netherealm character like him, Drahmin, and Ashrah into that category and said they should all be in to support the Shinnok-centric part of the story.

Another great episode. I definitely agree with alot of what you guys said, especially about Sareena! It's about time she's had the proper treatment she deserves. If this game is indeed Shinnok/Quan Chi centered, then I think she definitely has an important role to play in the game.

I would have like to have seen some discussion on Reiko and Tanya, as I think they both have a lot of untapped potential. I'd really like to see Tanya fleshed out as a more tragic character, at odds with herself for serving Shinnok in hopes that he will spare/free Edenia. For Reiko, I'd like to see him as a double agent working for Quan Chi to infiltrate Kahn's army from the inside...or something. There's just so much that can be done with these two!

I found someone using it on a forum elsewhere and thought it looked pretty nice. I would like to say DCU Online, perhaps?

As for Sareena, I definitely think she has potential not just story-line wise. This whole jumbo-wumbo time skip maneuver isn't something I'm digging honestly, but with that I'm sure they could involve her somewhere, at least. With Quan-Chi's heavy involvement in last game's story mode (possibly MKX's), I see no reason she can't have a role this time around.

As for her design, I think more tattoos might help, similar markings to Quan Chi perhaps (are those even the markings of the Dragon King anymore)? Her outfit could simply use more work, I think. I'm no character designer or sketch artist so I wont folly to be one, but possibly just go the whole demonic route with her. At least in variation form(s). I was thinking one demonic (maybe 2 that differ greatly from another) and 2 human-form classes (which also would differ). I also cannot recall a single MK female character besides Sindel (whom I dislike) to have unique hair like Sareena does.

I feel like Reiko's a bit of an open book, really. He seems to be extremely old, having served both Shinnok and Shao Kahn at various points (I'd really like to know how he went from one to the other), hates Quan Chi, and had some very stylish and effective moves in MK4. If we could just get past the "wants Kahn's helmet" running gag he's turned into, that'd be great. Guy could use some buildup.

I look forward to discussing Mileena. Ohhh, man.
