Post any loose ends that need explaining here.

One Im wondering is, does Quan Chi have Liu Kang, Shang Tsung, and Shao Kahn's souls?

He's got who was shown in the cutscenes.

According to some random tweet, Shang Tsung only gave his powers to Sindel, but nothing was mentioned as to what happened to his soul once she died. How truthful that is, I don't know, but it was one weird, random tweet.

Kahn (according to the Mortal Kombat wiki) was brought to the Elder Gods for punishment. The only thing Quan Chi "took" from Kahn was his helmet... that he picked up, not that he did anything special with it.

That's all I got.

Shang's fate is complicated. Theoretically, when Kahn killed him and gave Sindel his powers, if Sindel doesn't have his soul, then Kahn did...either way both are dead and normally, when a soul stealer dies, all the souls go free. In that event, he was evil, so it should go to Hell anyway, but maybe he has the will to resist and can become a ghost, or do what he did in Armageddon and inhabit a spare body he keeps in the Flesh Pits and come back to life.

Quan should have Liu's, Liu was an Earthrealm warrior who died before the merger ended and that was the deal. (Despite the fact that that deal shouldn't have been possible because Kahn has no say over where the dead of a realm he doesn't yet rule go and non-evil souls aren't supposed to be able to exist in Hell either, but whatever, we're going with what the game said...)

Quan Chi's arcade ending suggested he'd get Kahn's...but that doesn't really make sense for the lore. If Kahn's soul is in Hell, he can be resurrected, which means he can still win Armageddon, so Raiden's mission would not have ended and his amulet would not have repaired itself. We also don't even know for sure that the Elder Gods killed him, that beam of light could've been them carrying him off to Heaven to trap him somewhere for eternity or something.

Also, Kahn used to be a god before he became Emperor, and normally, gods reincarnate when they die like how Raiden became Dark Raiden in Deception after he blew himself up. But he's not a god anymore, and if he did still have the power to reincarnate, the Elder Gods may have the ability to prevent that.

My guesses are

For Liu Kang: No he's not dead. For all intents and purposes they wanted it to look like he's dead to show how badly Raiden messed up, but I think for mkx they'll write him back to life somehow, either by resurrecting him or saying he wasn't quite dead in the first place. I don't think deciding to make a still unmoving body turn out to be alive would be the biggest retcon in the series by any means, and if having him die and be resurrected doesn't do anything for him as a character I think it seems like the better option.

For Jade's ending: No, it's not true. I think it's most likely just a throwaway experimental arcade ending. I'd be pretty surprised if that made it into the game's story any time soon, considering all the loose ends they need to tie up in the main story first.

For Ermac: I do believe he has the soul of King Jerrod within him. That doesn't contradict anything and it seems like an awesome update to his storyline. But I don't think the soul of Jerrod became fully realized, and I don't think he'll ever function exactly like King Jerrod would have, even if Jerrod becomes the most prominent soul in the body. He's still got hundreds of souls in him, he's bound to run into some conflict.

Nobody said that pure souls after their bodies died could not be CORRUPTED before entering the Netherrealm. We know Kahn gave the souls of Earthrealm warriors to Quan Chi as payment for the Netherrealm's "allegiance" to Outworld. Quan Chi even said it flat out to Raiden near the end of MK9.So Kahn must have corrupted the Earthrealm warriors' souls when he had possession of them after Sindel and the rest were killed, indirectly. The same thing happened to Raiden after he blew himself up in Deception, killing the Deadly Alliance but absorbing their corruption thus making him into Dark Raiden. Also, doesn't soul-dealing overrule the Netherrealm rule? If I was an evil Netherrealm sorcerer who wanted a powerful hero's soul, I would have no problem getting it if another sorcerer from another dimension lended it to me, So I think there could probably be indirect loopholes with the "no-pure-soul-goes-to-the-Netherrealm."

And another unanswered question: Will we ever see Johnny Cage's new release of "Time Smashers?"

That could be said for a lot of MK9 characters but that doesn't necessarily guarantees their inclusion

I know what you mean but he's one of the most popular characters, do you honestly think he won't be in MKX?

For Shang I'm guessing Quan Chi probably had something up his sleeves regarding Shang's soul if the spare body in the flesh pits idea was looked over.

Liu's soul (if he died) I still say and have been saying will be heavily tainted by Shinnok and/or Quan Chi's influence. They'll want a secret weapon against Raiden and the Earthrealm warriors on their side, what better said weapon than one of the good guys mightiest warriors fighting on their behalf?

About Kahn's resting place and his status with the Elder Gods, I wouldn't be surprised if the Elder Gods had his soul trapped in some sort of device or maybe like a deserted realm because of his treachery and breaking of the rules. Possibly placed in limbo that someone or something can conveniently break him out of in a future game. As for the others, I wouldn't be surprised if they keep the Jerrod/Ermac twist or atleast lead us down the road of it being a possibility and teasing it throughout his storyline but Jade's I'm pretty sure will end up being non-canon. If this emerald chick does end up appearing, I don't think she'll play a major role in MKX but who knows, stranger things have happened.

That is one of the greatest unsolved mysteries of all time and I've thought about it from time to time over the years. My theory is the first shell does a basic initial wiping of your ass with a soft spongy material on the end of the shell. The second shell does a thorough rinse of your back side with a soapy substance that is great for washing poo away. And finally the third shell is the sanitizer for your ass that leaves you walking away fresh and clean. This sanitizer is in the form of a spray/mist and is self drying. wink

Now back to MK; The fact that Raiden teleported Cage, Sonya, and Liu away at the end of the MK9 gave me the impression that Liu will get resurrected by the gods at some point in MKX. I think that leaves out the immediate possibility of him being under the control of Quan Chi at the beginning of the game like lots of the other heroes. I have a feeling Liu will be playable and on the side of evil, but how it all unfolds is what I'm really looking forward to. I could be way off though.

It would be cool if Liu Kang is still alive and just super mad and it's him who dethrones Kotal Kahn to get his old nemesis throne, also kicks Shinnokh's butt and becomes mad with power and starts his own realm conquering rampage and all the other realms must stop him.

They could've gotten some ideas from writting Injustice and now make Liu Kang decide Raiden is too dumb and as earthrealm strongest warrior he's making the decissions now.

Yeah im pretty sure Ermac will be back, I just wish they would hurry up and reveal him lol

As for the King Jerrod thing, I have never been thrilled about it. I think having it in there would be cool, I just fear that they will make Jerrod become the dominate soul and the character will be less Ermac and more Jerrod, which would kind of irritate me.

I think a more interesting idea would be to have all of the souls within Ermac fight for dominance, leading to a huge internal conflict within Ermac, almost making him a wild card of sorts.

You're right, I think he will be in, is just that, with the limited character's slots, I know some "alive" popular characters will be left out.

Lol I know I was just playing along :)

Also, who do you have a feeling about? Ermac or King Jerrod? Lol I wouldn't really be that upset about the whole Jerrod in Ermac thing, as long as NRS doesn't practically turn Ermac into King Jerrod, that would be a little disappointing lol

Although I do like the idea of Liu Kang either not dying or being resurrected where, at some point, he takes revenge on Raiden for his actions at the end of MK9, idk if Liu Kang has to be evil. In his mind, he's bringing justice against someone who was responsible for killing (indirectly) his friends and Earthrealm's strongest warriors, seriously putting into jeopardy Earth's survival from Shao Kahn's invaders. Of course Liu didn't believe the Elder Gods would intervene as they did only after he was killed by Raiden, but regardless he was fully intending on fighting Kahn to defend Earthrealm.

I also like the idea of Liu Kang, continuing this theory that he's upset with Raiden and his decisions, that Liu could make a better protector of Earthrealm than Raiden. I'm sure NRS will come up with a decent storyline and I'm very curious who the "big bad" villain will be, but I would've love to see the creators go in a completely different direction with the final boss. What if the final boss wasn't a bad guy or villain at all, but a good guy standing in the way of evil and their final triumph?

Liu Kang would be PERFECT in this role, as I'm sure all the villains will at some point fight amongst one another until one stands victorious and, consolidating their power unopposed by the other fellow villains, now faces one last challenge from someone of the "good" side attempting to prevent their evil goal.

But again, NRS stated the final boss is, indeed, a returning character who will be the "big bad" villain. Possibly a corrupted, tainted evil Liu Kang sought revenge against Raiden, and afterwards adopted Old Timeline Raiden's dark path after Deadly Alliance to protect Earthrealm against anyone who would harm it, good or bad.
