Well.. this is disappoints me. I thought Liu Kang and Reptile would get a klassik fatality. Why a decap for Johnny CAge and Kitana? I mean to cut someone's head isn't that impressive since we saw it in every last MK sequel.

The Shinnok nerf of this patch kinda ruined the whole thing for me. I've been waiting forever for Ermac's classic tho and now might have to pick him up. I guess some Tanya nerfs are cool tho too. But yeah I think the shinnok thing really fucked over the Imposter and Necro variations. Even when I was plus 24 it was still a guess as to whether my opponent would backdash or armor through but now they can also poke out since the pushback of the first meterburned hellspark only allows for a F4 follow up (and the timing is strict i've heard so online is gonna be a fuckin headache). A run in throw or overhead is even more risky since they can backdash, armor, or now, poke. Even an uppercut would punish those options. So what this means to the non shinnok player is that Shinnok's pressure and frame traps just got extremely linear and simplistic. F4 meter burned hellspark F4 meterburned hellspark F4 meterburned hellspark and then just F4 into nothing since Shinnok has nothing safe to cancel into in these variations. No other string is safe or guaranteed.

Bone shaper is fine because the F4 continues into a string that mixes up, leads to a combo with meter, can be looped back into the frame trap on block with meter, or can end the string into dark beam to make it safe and build meter. I'm kinda baffled on how this nerf was even meant to make boneshaper slightly weaker. Now I worry Shinnok will drift into Sub territory where there is no reason to ever use any other variation. The vortex he gets with some mu's in imposter is cool and all but now he is more dependent on meter than ever and has no way to build it or safely pressure/mix up an opponent.

Overall the more I play this game the less and less I like the variation system. I feel like i have 3 unfinished characters and when one variation completely sticks out above the other two I'm left with this unfinished, extremely repetitive and flat character. I can't just switch up the style and strategy of my game play with a new variation because the system doesn't work like that, I can either use my character's best variation and stay competitive or switch to a shittier, sub par version of the character. Boneshaper Shinnok with its much faster and safe projectile and unblockable db1 out zones Necromancer and the vortex in Boneshaper now leads to much better and safer options than Imposter.

But for the record I'm on xbone and have not gotten the patch yet so I have not experienced the nerf first hand, the above is whiny salt. That said tho it is still not false. Boneshaper will play as is and the other two variations will get a severe limp, is my prediction.

Not even close. Boneshaper Shinnok still could be considered a top 15 character, but it does hurt Impostor and Necromancer. I'm honestly stunned that they buffed boneshaper that much, it wasn't even that bad before the patch but they kinda made him really dumb. He's definitely not a bottom 5 character in any of his variations though, probably top 15.

I'm actually really glad that they went with MK3 Kung Lao. It's been a while since MKGold so it's nice to see it back. And damn it looks good. Can't wait to use him.

Hat Trick is going to look fucking weird though.

I like where your heads at. The Shinnok players are not reacting accordingly to this nerf imo, from what i read on tym at least. This kicked necro and imposter straight in the balls.

I totally agree with you. I could even see him getting in the top ten in boneshaper because i really don't see how the nerf changes anything other than meter burning the first hit of hell spark instead of the second. I haven't really thought this through tho, for the record.

On the kinda positive side tho I guess the advantage of the meter burned second hellspark that WAS plus 24 lied in the conditioning of your opponent, which could still exist with the plus 14. But I really don't know, I feel like as soon as your opponent see's you run they know to poke, backdash, or armor. Hell even a poke will get them out of whatever you are trying to run up and do assuming they have a fast poke. Or of course they could also just wait for you to do something punishable and/or spend all your meter too. Like I worry the mix up and conditioning oppertunity has been lost. The problem lies not in the reduction of plus frames, but in the amount of pushback caused by meterburned hellspark combined with Shinnok having no fast advancing normals other than F4. It just becomes very obvious what he is about to do. I could be over estimating peoples reactions in the heat of a match here tho of course. I feel like frame data isn't quite as straight forward in MKX as it was in MK9, like how everything minus 10 and below can be hard as fuck to punish in MKX and certain moves can have varying degrees of push back on block depending on where they were activated.

It annoys me to no end that Kung Lao is allowed all his plus frame traps while Shinnok gets hit like this tho. How spreadsheet predictable do they want want their tier list to be? Kung Lao gets to always be on top in every game? really? thats his thing? If Shinnok had fast advancing mids i could understand the nerf, but he doesn't, so I don't.

I'm no authority on anything tho and I'm still even waiting to play the damn patch, so everything I'm saying is whiny emo speculation, of course. I'll sleep much better when I see a post patch Imposter Shinnok continue to ruin peoples shit with frame traps. Ever since the back 3 patch I've exclusively played Shinnok so all my eggs are in the same basket now so to speak and I don't want NRS to stomp my egg basket.

Hey Spaceman. I appreciate what you're doing but most people here won't understand anything you're saying. If you want to discuss franes and stuff you should go to TYM. People here mostly discuss the lore and who they think should be in the game. It's not the same kind of players. Those who understand also go to TYM.

Kotal's Sun Ray one was messed up for a month after one patch. They fixed that one but now Ferra Torr's is broken. I haven't noticed any others.

Ridiculous. Now, I really see why they call it a kombat pack, not a season pass. $30 for a "pack" should grant you whatever new content they make. $60 grants you over 2 dozen fighters, at least 2 outfits per fighter, 2 fatalities per fighter, and multiple brutalities per fighter, etc. But $30 only grants you 4 characters, some of those 4 may only have 1 outfit, and over a dozen new outfits for some characters... and new fatalities you STILL have to pay for?! What a scam, what a rip-off. No thanks; shall await the komplete edition, especially on sale.

1.)The Kombat Pack included exactly what it said it included.
2.)The Klassic Fatalities are free.
3.)They could release Tremor tomorrow if they wanted so that's fucked up.
