I'm very curious about that, especially considering Boon's control over the series. I was led to believe he was calling the shots when it came to MK. And -for the record - the publisher is WB, which owns NRS.

Boon controls what the game looks like most likely but WB still decides on how to market the title (which also includes DLC pricing, etc.)

My local bus stop posters are certainly not coming from NRS themselves (unless WB asked them to design it).

Then, I'm really not sure when the press asks Boon about finalized details about the game if he's not in charge.

I don't think it's such a big deal. Regardless of the paid dlc, they seriously needed to lower the payout for koins. They were way too easy to earn in the past games. I've always unlocked everything in one shot after beating story and arcade. This adds more incentive for casual players to keep playing. I'm an MK Fan, so I'll always play regardless if I unlocked everything already.

As for the review copies, I'll give NRS the benefit of the doubt. They probably did it on purpose so the reviewers can 100% the game in time for release day and have the review completed.

Also, I'm curious about this "buy easy fatalities", since - according to the article - they're consumables, meaning if you bought the 30 fatalities, you can only perform 30 of them before they become locked again.

If true, this sets a new precedence for bullshit DLC.

Yes, they're consumable. After 30 uses, they're gone and you'd have to buy another pack to do easy fatalities again. And yeah, it's a dick-bag move IMO.

I disagree 100% easy fatalitys shouldn't even be in the game at all. If you suck too much to pull off a fatality, then you don't deserve to use them.

I'm glad they lowered it. It wouldn't take long to unlock everything if you were getting 1000 koins instead of 100. That's too easy. Part of the fun in unlocking stuff is the challenge.

Like I said, it's rather ironic, since NRS would prefer you to buy the easy way to get them.

I don't see it as them preferring you buy them, in fact I really doubt they would ever prefer you skip over something they spent a lot of time and effort creating. You can guarantee NRS would want you to experience the full game and unlock everything yourself. WB on the other hand would love the $$$ from lazy/rich/casual players.

And what is it you disagree with exactly? I never said easy fatalities should be in the game, I said having the packs be consumable is douche move.

I've already unlocked everything in the kyrpt and also got everything from gambling as well. Still wondering if there is any type of secret unlockables hidden from everyone.

If you think that MKX selling at 60 bucks (depending on where you are) plus season passes for 30 bucks (where one of the characters is coming from story mode) NEEDS to make MORE money you're crazy.

MKX will do well. The issue here is when is it enough? No MKX is not the first game to have crazy shit like this happen, but seriously, is that a reason to let it slide?

Easy fatalities used to be a free OPTION.

Hopefully this is insightful for some.

I agree with this guy, and I'll take out the part I thought was most important:

"I like to look at situations like this from all perspectives

I can see how this may appear as a cash grab tactic, charging people for content in a game that they already pay for, when you say it like that, it sounds pretty shady.

But then you have people who just dont have the free time to play the game and unlock everything, and for those folks, this seems to be a pretty reasonably option.

Thats it right there folks, these micro transactions are optional.

When micro transactions become a problem is when
A) give an unfair advantage to people gameplay wise (who pay for them)
B) when they are forced and there is no way around them.

These are the reasons microtransactions get such a bad rep. Some people hear the word and blow a gasket because they don't look at the situation

needless to say we need to agree to disagree, and stop drilling developers for offering options to gamers with different lifestyles. "
