Nearly a year from release, this isn't the final box art. But I would like a random character's art, exactly this style, put as a reverse cover. Like Borderland's did, The Last of Us, Twisted Metal, for examples. I miss the PS2 and Xbox days of MK with character driven special edition covers. I'll take a random reverse cover either way.

Didn't think they could top MK9's bad box art. Boy, was I wrong.

I just would like for the more obscure (and plot-essential) characters to get more exposure in promo material. For the last game, it was all just a slew of Scorpion making Sub-Zero his bitch.

It makes sense to have the two most iconic characters in the trailer. That way people other than the biggest fans will recognize the game from it. I'm sure we'll see more characters later.

That box art is simply beautiful, Scorpion looks damn close to real in that shot. And I agree with the majority of you, he's never looked better. He's in a fighting stance, ready to get after it with some one and it rocks! I could imagine NetherRealm selling quite a few more copies of the game just with that box art alone.

I hope for different versions for different consoles... Cuz of the blue PS4 stripe I think Sub would be more fitting than Scorpion

So far the character design and art style is far superior to the previous game.

Scorpion does look good there, but this just doesn't work for box art, imo. It would work better with Scorpion turned to face us and some other background than just plain black fill. At the moment it has too much of that cut-paste feel... :-\

I'd prefer an MK logo with an X somewhere as the box cover though.

I like it but I doubt it will still be like this when it's released. That or there will be multiple versions with special editions and steelbooks etc.

The fact that people have the impression that that's what the box art will be is hilarious. The game is still a LONG way away. They have plenty of time to think of an interesting box art that better represents the game.

Though Scorp and Sub will most likely be on there again.

This will not be the final box art, I'm 99% sure of it.

If it is, I wouldn't mind. The box is always tucked away in my game shelf anyways, I just hope it has a reversible cover of some sort, I love that shit.

Hey guys, I might be thinking too much here but im kinda getting the vibe that this boxart will be character optional. Meaning, say, 4 different box art variations (4 different characters) if so, you know subby will have one.. but what of the other two..?

The simplicity of the boxart leads me to believe this is a possibility. I would most definitely be in favor of a gimmick like this.

The previous game used this for a long time before the official art was released...just saying. Even if it looks better, and I would've preferred the above art to what we actually got, my point is that IT CAN AND LIKELY WILL CHANGE.

Wont be the final box art but I hope they keep the minimalist style.

This likely won't be the box art come release. They usually have a place holder this far out.

And for the people who come here every time for the lead up to the game and just complain or threaten to give up on MK. Please, with all due respect, just stop being a fan because it's just tiring to see it. Every time, it's always something.

It just comes off as a bit silly. You're more than welcome and entitled to complain, we all do here and there about one thing or another. But if the majority of what you have to say is complaints, or you're threatening your fandom over one thing...come on now guy. I've been coming here for. 13 years...since the lead up to MK:DA...it's the same story every time. For the record I'm not singling out Shingo, Shingo is a great member. I'm just saying...

If you ask me, Scorpion deserves to be the face of the series. Although I would honestly prefer it to just be Liu Kang.
