I still think it's a complete waste of characters. No, I didn't say all the villains would die in one scene.. I would spread them out between battles so it feels more grand and epic. Why take away the ability to tell stories about characters. If you kill them off, it should serve as a fitting end to their story, if they're going to die, they better go out swinging.

So you would probably be happier with a scene where Liu Kang or Raiden kills most of the villains? I guess we like diferent things. Even when there are some few flaws on that scene (Like sindel riping off Kabal's respirator would've been much better than ripping Jade's stomach, or the fact that she faces them one by one), i still think it was really amazing. The only charachter i feel that shouldn't have died is Jade, because she wouldn't have change the story of this game in any way, but would have leaven a great amount of posibilities for her in the next one, being the only good edenian alive. Just my thoughts, of course.
Hey, I was not opposed to the idea of taking the story in a new direction after MK1-3... I just think the way it was done was rather poor. (There was seriously no need to have everyone die at the hands of Sindel, that was just a bullshit scene that existed for no other purpose than shock value) I would've just had most of the villains die... while also killing off maybe a few heroes (in much better dignified deaths than what they got) and then go in a new direction. Come up with new bad guys something like that.

And the pustule that MK4 characters represent boils anew.
But, if they are not going to remake the original... as they cannot already since Edenia is not separated, this might be a chance to make them suck less, or altogether remove them from relevan..no, this is NRS, the attempt to make them suck less is what we get.

Shinnok will obviously be in MK10.
I mean.......so obviously.
Unless they choose to go the Motaro route

I understand your point, but i just think we like diferent things. They should've killed at least two villains, the only ones who were killed by a hero were Sindel and Noob Saibot, and i think it'd have been better if Sektor killed smoke and captured Sub-zero or something like that. With those (and the Jade/Kabal change), the scene would've probably been better, but i still like it.

I didn't want him to be a new character I simply made some absurd comment. He wanted more indians I wanted more ninjas.

No MK4 means we will see drastic changes to characters and story. I just hope it's not a disaster story this time round. And Khrome could be White Ninja :)

Could there now be a possibility that we will see Delia and Argus in MK 10 as playable characters?

Y'know Hanky, the board has a rule that you're not supposed to post in threads that have been inactive for more than three months.
This one was inactive for three YEARS.

Apparently likes to talk when no one will talk back. And involve his beloved Khrome somewhere Or he searched 'white ninja' and found this therefore thought it is relevant

God and here I thought people like ZenOboe came back out of the blue to post in some random MK4 thread.
Quit bumping old threads Hank.

And that's perfectly fine. I just don't want a remake with slight changes like "Instead of Liu Kang, Kai defeated Shinnok!" or "Jarek ends up staying with the good guys after Shinnok's defeat!" ect.
Let's bring in a few new faces and have this game allude to an all new conflict after Shinnok is defeated. Or if Shinnok wins. W/e they choose to do.
But we definitely don't need to re-live every game. That's not progress.

The next game will most definitely deal with tons of MK4 material and references.
It's all about Shinnok now. It might not be specifically the same plot, but, it will definitely borrow from it and I'm guessing it will add/feature elements, stories, and characters from MKDA and MKD.

Couldn't agree more. I want to see progress. They rebooted the story with an alternate timeline. Just because we saw Shinnok at the end does not automatically mean that the next game will be the next three games or even MK4 next.
For all we know, Raiden has some inkling of what happens with Shinnok ascending and he kills him in the opening cinematic. Maybe that touches off a whole string of events that lead us to a completely different villain.
Personally, there aren't a whole lot of characters that I love from post MK3. They've wiped the slate clean time-wise, so they can really pick and choose who returns and why. I want to see something new. I don't want to see an alternate version of stuff I've already seen. Maybe that's just me.
Side note: Didn't even realize that this was a 3 year old thread until Razor pointed it out lol! I guess it's a pretty relevant topic right now though, as the speculation (hopefully) ends in a month or so.

Yup gotta read between the lines. Timeline was changed in MK 2011 so the events of MK4 - Armageddon would play out differently

Lets try not to miss what was written WITHIN the lines. The Netherrealm is planning to invade in a clear-as-day foreshadowing. Shinnok WILL invade. Nothing about MK4 was really part of that DBZ syndrome. It started with Ermac's ending in MKD. I think Onaga wasn't that much of an endgame threat as we all knew that Shao Kahn had beat him before. It was primarily all the shit that came with MKA.

The Onaga you fight in Deception had magic items that made him invincible. That was the threat.
And Kahn didn't beat him in a fight, he poisoned him.

Double post. My bad.

With the help of Goro, if I'm correct(or was that his MKD ending only?) I forget. So it took a powerhouse character(s?) and a cheap tactic to defeat him which places him about the same tier as Liu Kang.
Regardless of that, I really felt like "okay this is out of hand" with Taven, Daegon, the dragons, the catalyst items and the Blaze transformation. Nothing about MK4-MKD remotely had me worried. Sure, the Kamidogu. Still..

The Goro and Kahn fighting Onaga thing was his Deception ending.
In the ancient past, they were pals until Kahn slipped Onaga poison that killed him, no fight.
As far as physical threats or comparing villains goes, I actually think Onaga has been the most intimidating in the series. The opening where he's just wading through beams from Shang, Quan, and Raiden at the same time and barely feeling it is is just too badass to ignore.
Blaze seemed like a drastic step down, though. Like even though they established that Taven and Daegon "needed" special swords to kill him, they also went "but ANYBODY can get to the top of the pyramid and beat him!" which is just fuckin' stupid.

If there is Onaga does that mean there's no Reptile?
