The gray ninja could be takeda. Takeda is shown wielding a single two handed sword in the story mode trailer. It could be one of his variations. (Would make sense with him being scorpions apprentice)

Also him sporting the slight yellow highlights could represent the Shirai ryu.

But it also could be a subby alt. (The throwing knives on the gray ninjas arms are nearly identical to the ones on sub zero.)

But it also could just be an NPC ninja, which would be really cool if we could fight npcs. I want to fight the generic Tarkatans and also Kotal army looks sweet.

I remember working my ass for that Arkham City Harley skin on the mobile injustice game. I wouldn't mind if they did that again with MKX. I thought it was kinda cool.

Oh yay, more exclusive crap that makes me feel like i'll be buying half a game. confused

It's getting harder to be a fan, and easier to hate the direction the games industry drives things.

I completely think it is Takeda!! Scorpion usually has two swords on his back. He also seems to like gray. Look at Kenshi and Takeda clothing in the comic when he young. 100% alt for Takeda!!!

I think it is now. Which would mean 3 alts for takeda. I think we might be seeing a lot of alts this time around.

For mk9 they kept the alts pretty hidden up til release, and now they are flaunting them all over the place. Seems to me that they won't be the only alts available.

Pretty sure that regardless of whose alt this is, it's going to be from the Feudal Japan DLC pack. So it's not a "third" alt that'll be included in the game.

How much money do you think MKX is gonna make? It's getting all kinds of publicity thanks to Warner Brothers. More than I've ever seen for a fighting game before. I don't wanna say MK is WBs new cash cow because I'm sure it's far from the truth but MK is gonna make them some money.

They must really really despise that era. Which is sad cuz there was a handful of characters that were awesome. Too bad we'll probably never see them again. sad

Not until April? Whyyyyyyyy? Perfect opportunity missed..

Opportunity for what, spoiling everything?

Build hype until release. Injustice mobile didn't have story or anything. What would be spoiled, Character reveals? Add the secret characters in April.

Agreed. Plus gives us time to try and work on unlocking whatever it is there is to unlock for the main title and such before release. The Injustice mobile app didn't ruin anything for me; actually made me more excited for the game.

See I didn't play the injustice one because I didn't care. I'm not a huge fan of that mobile style or justice league but it was alright. Even I would play the shit out of mkx mobile but I'm not going to care in April. It's cool for those who like those kinds of games, I'm just giving my opinion.

I agree, good points. Sub in yellow though?

I really like the idea of generic faction characters. Like that ninja is just a generic Shirai ryu with takeda's sword variation. Black dragon henchmen just have kanos commando variation. I think that would make up for some pretty cool tower stuff.

Well, the first 32 seconds of that trailer were a waste of time. I don't understand why they felt the need to recap the history of MK in a MKX Mobile announcement trailer.

They could have used that time to show and tell us more....what are the features, do we get to unlock exclusive in-game content, what platforms is it available on, show more gameplay instead of a few quick screens, etc.

That being said, it's cool to see a mobile app coming. Time to grind it out.

Would definitely mean cool tower challenges.

Also it would make the story mode expand in a good way. it would allow you to fight henchman rather than each fight being a char vs. Char fight (Something that mk9 really lacked.)

In mk9 fights became forced and far fetched. Henchman require extremely little story driven impact. They are just cannon fodder but they are very useful in their expendancy.

Lol didn't even show the games that kept Midway and MK itself afloat after Annihilation and 4/Gold.

For reference MK9 sold six million copies. I think a conservative estimate is that MKX will set to match that but realistically I think much more. MKX is receiving much more attention than MK9 did.

I do not think it will be their cash cow but I expect strong post launch support with more content. Warner Brothers also have Batman: Arkham Knight, coming out in June, which is probably their number one game in their library. That game is expected to be amazing.

I'm thinking they didn't show 3d Era so their fanbase wouldn't assume characters are confirmed.

Wouldn't surprise me at this point, with the way people react.

If they showed the 3d era characters: "OMG Drahmin confirmed!"

If they don't show them: "OMG they don't care about them!"

It's a no win scenario for them. As is the case with many things about he game. People love to judge, blame, and condemn them, but trying to make everyone happy is no easy task, and to actually do it is impossible.

Roster (returnees vs. new vs. 3D era)
Story direction (retelling vs. sequel vs. prequel vs. reboot)
Character focus (new vs. MK1-3 vs. MK4-MKA)
Marketing (more vs. less)
Female amount (more vs. less)
Sexualization (extreme vs. subtle)
Tone (violent/dark vs. funny/light)

Those are just a few...

Peeps might be reading a little too much into the "no 3D games shown" thing. The whole thrust of the trailer is that MK has reached a new milestone by coming to mobile devices, just as the "console era" was a milestone from the arcades.

MK is Born >>> Console Era
MK is Reborn >>> Mobile Era

If they did make a decisive effort to leave those games out, it's probably because MK4 looked like crap graphically and the 3D games have a completely different style. It would not have looked like a smooth transition from Then to Now, from the Classic Era to the New Era.

Of course it certainly was not, in truth, a smooth transition through the 3D games. But for marketing purposes, they might as well create the illusion that it was.
