That slow pan to the Sonya and Johnny statues gave me the girliest goosebumps. Motherfuckas need to respect the two Earthrealmers who got shit DONE and SAVED the goddamned world after an invasion from fucking HELL (as well as an apocalyptic, hastily-written MK9 climax -_- But that's beside the point).

I wonder if this is part of the actual Story Mode intro? Or was it created specifically to precede the Sonya/Johnny reveal? I hope it's the former. The beginning of Story Mode should rightfully shed a spotlight on them.

They definitely did some rearranging with their facial features. Sonya, not so much, but definitely Johnny. That being said, I personally favor this new look without hesitation. I've always liked Johnny, but visually he's always been lacking, and his MK9 version was especially underwhelming (that hair!). MKX Johnny is wholly new and improved; he's definitely bigger, and his features are imposing; gone is baby-faced Cage fresh off a B-movie set... Speaking of which, the dude helps save the world, can they thank him with some better roles? What the hell, I never understood this...

And the hair. Finally, a suitable head of hair.

I've said it before, but it bears repeating; he looks dope as hell, and I haven't been this excited about him in a long time.

Early-age costumes are interesting. Definitely nice, got my stamp of approval---if just a tad underwhelming, if I may say so? At least at first glance. Sonya's is definitely akin to her MK: Shaolin Monks look, which I've always had a weird fondness for, so I'm not complaining!! But I do hope the third (3+ costumes are confirmed, right?) costume is something altogether different; a little sense of aesthetic adventure would definitely be refreshing!




Hell of a throw! I love bone-breakers/grappling type of moves.




Trouble in paradise... kind of sad they're not together anymore, although it would have been more surprising if they still were. Sonya strikes me as the type of woman to cringe at the word "wife", and Johnny is obviously the kind of guy who uses the term "baby momma" (who is gonna stick around in the morning for that kind of grating vocabulary? Wham-bam-thank-you...Mister...) She hit it and quit it.

We do notice Johnny wearing the ring necklace here, though; and Sonya clearly not. There's definitely no ill feelings one way or the other, but it's pretty evident that Johnny is still whipped haha. Ring aside, he keeps poking at her like a High-Schooler with a crush.

HOWEVER, in the leaked screenshot with Jax, she IS wearing the ring necklace. Reconciliation beyond just alien-demon-fighting partners?

First of all, let me express my fat-kid-with-ice-cream-cake excitement at the fact that Sonya has a Parry/Counter move! A couple people here and there may be familiar with my long-winded wishlist for variations and specials, and I was ever so hopeful for this, and I got it! Lawd, this is such a gift.

Fapality aside, this move has me wondering whether one of her variations might constitute the inclusion of moves that utilize the piano wire ropey... thingy... Can someone please inform me of the actual name of that weapon/tool/wire...ropey...thingy...? Fuck...

If I had to guess, I'd say it's a normal special move, because she also uses the pianowireropeythingy for her X-Ray, so it seems to be part of her fighting style now, across the board. But whether this is the case, or it's a Variation, I'm running up and down the hype train corridor. In spite of her lackluster Fatalities in MK9, I did love the introduction of the.... pianI'm not doing that again, someone just tell me the name.

(BTW, I have Super Headphones, and the sound effect of the pia-_- THE ROPEY THING is soooo sexy!!! Without the overpowering music, during actual gameplay, it's gonna be SO satisfying using that parry and hearing that cutting reeling sound!)

Ugh, I am all about this costume. When that old screenshot of hers leaked, I was talking about how I thought the color palette was a little too dark, not enough textures, wishing the light blue/silver tone of the comics would have been used... fuck all that noise. This version is clearly updated, and leagues better than what I could have suggested. I LOVE the dark green/black color palette throughout, the added texture differentiations, the fucking hat, THE UNSPEAKABLY LONG BRAID (that's a big one, gotta mention that in caps)... I'm all giddy. Thank you, NRS, she looks EXCELLENT!

Haha and here comes Johnny with another needless quip. Johnny-boy, everything you say in this trailer very unabashedly translates to "Come on, please, can we fuck just one more time? Just a quickie?"

And Kenshi Claus has to stand there and hear this shit lol What a trooper.

And I guess they're totally not going with the Chi Abilities in this new timeline. Used to be her Rings were a Chi-based attack like Liu's, now they're outfitting her with a Sci-Fi laser-gun on her gauntlet haha. I guess I understand the choice; it's good for variety, as opposed to just having everyone shooting fireballs for no apparent reason.

This fight is gonna be awesome. Too bad we already knows it ends with Sonya on the ground and Raiden saving the day Still looking forward to seeing her and Johnny go at it with Big Boss Man; who, by the way, looks pretty fucking awesome as well! Seriously, I could never get out of my head my first impression with Shinnok, of a Power Rangers villain or something of the sort, what with the big red helmet... but I'm tempted to forget about all that and give the guy some damn credit this time out. He looks slick, evil, and powerful as hell.

That throw is THE SHIT, though!!! That is her throw, right? Fucking beautiful, really playing up her acrobatic prowess. When Sonya performs an attack that leaves you wondering what in the Netherrealm you just saw, then everything is right with the universe, and you're getting another week of winter.




Hahaha Yeah, he took Shao Khan's Fatality, but with a line like that, you gotta smile and pretend he came up with the whole thing on his own Goddamn, he looks like a lot of fun. Main #2, for sure.

Well, I'm extremely happy to see Fujin in-game. As much as I love him, I'm not feeling the looks there in that screenshot. Granted, a better look is needed, but the hairstyle looks kinda ugly. Hopefully he's playable, but I still doubt it.

That trailer is a highlight of my day; completely unexpected vid put out and there's a lot of "blink & you'll miss it" appearances.

Liu Kang & Baraka statues at 0:20; out cold/dead Kabal on the floor behind Johnny & Sonya at 0:23; revenant Jax at 0:28; Kenshi; what looks like it could be Noob at 0:57 in the background; Mileena looking (imo) the best in years; Shinnok looking badass & better than he ever has; and that fatality by Johnny "HERE'S JOHNNY" made me literally laugh out loud. Plus Sindel seen took a while, I missed her the first 2 times I watched the vid; and Fujin appearing with Raiden & Shinnok gets bonus points from me, I really hope he's playable.

One thing that I can't work out and am really intrigued about- who is it that's chained up 0:13?!

I was thinking about this today actually. I really hope they're not throwing in all these cinematic shots of story mode JUST to promote it in the trailers. It better be a part of it when you play through. MK9's was so tightly knit, it was claustrophobia inducing.

Haha that's great. I lost faith in the team after Mk4's ending when he had such a great bio depicting the character I always admired, MK9 turned it spurns and MKX looks to be even better. I've been a member since it was mk5.org just haven't posted in a long time.

Good call; I'd not spotted the figure later doing a spot of masonry on the pillar and definitely Shinnok at 0:13, when I'd paused the vid it stopped just before the zooming in where the cowl/hat can be seen.

I thoroughly enjoyed his gameplay, especially in MK9. I just could not stand him as a character...again, especially in MK9. The maturity really plays to his favor, even if he's still a teenaged douche at heart. There's still so much that remains to be seen, but here's to hoping he can maintain this newfound status on my list.

I honestly couldn't tell you when I joined. >.> It was probably in the ballpark of 05/06, and I think that was after the transition from MK5.org to MKO. Although I remember lurking here for a while before joining.
