Meh, I don't think that's necessarily true. They know MK is important because MK makes bank, it's why they bought them and shovel so much money into its productions. They just know the idiot casual scanning through games upon games sitting on a wall in a Gamestop will stop and look at all the guests on the front cover and notice it more than the average joe cover leading them to exclaiming something along the lines of "OMGZ AWESOME! HORROR PEEPS!"

It's just gonna be a fact of life we have to get used to (and get over) from here on out until this "fad" diminishes. Post-launch will from now on feature probably half guests / half MK packs. The majority obviously enjoy their little "What-if" match-ups more than dishing out 30 bucks for four MK characters who may or may not be super popular. As much as I wish DLC packs could be the spotlight for those lesser appreciated MK folk, that's just not the reality we're living in sadly.

WB is both the best and worst thing to happen to MK imo.

Best because the quality and production value is incredible, characters look amazing, gameplay is sick, voice acting, story cutscenes, attention to detail is all fantastic.

Worst because we have shitty guests and ridiculous (but now standard in the industry) DLC and pre-order bullshit.

At the very least it's more exciting than the standard edition cover lol.

I can live without Tremor or Bo on the cover, but Tanya would have added a nicely contrasted yellow to the canvas.

I can live without it as well. It is not like I am going to be staring blankly at the cover, admiring it. I buy the game, open it, put the disk in the tray and play the game.

Now, i'm not into the whole business of playing as female characters for polygon tits, but some fans are. Whatever happened to the whole 'sex sells' adage? Seriously i was sceptical when they announce KP2 without any female presence. Or even how about appeasing the long-term fans who clamoured for Tanya as much as Fujin. She's not a bad character either. More like badass. Especially the naginata variation.

I was going to mention the same thing. DC universe, DC characters. MK universe, WB characters. Whut? And also no PC support means no PS3/XB360 release either. Not that i was expecting it but still... they might have enticed some other new people with a cross-gen release to make this effort actually worthwhile. Who would buy a complete edition when they have spent all that money previously on the first game & the DLC?

What skin packs are available because when they say all do they mean even the pre-order bonus Gold Scorpion, unlockable skins and the MKX Mobile skins too or just the skin packs available on the store?

In the trailer it says every skin will be available and shows Scorpion's Injustice skin which is available from the mobile game.

Wow, aside from Sub, this cover is representin' worse than the Oscars! I really wish they would just scrap the guests and give them their own damn game already. This is pathetic now.

I liked that aspect too. Yeah it's a fighting game so it should be vibrant and eye catching anyway. But I liked how the bright colors and outrageous characters were in stark contrast to the dark lore and story within.

9 extra characters, 6 appear on the cover, only 2 are actual MK characters. That says it all, folks.

It makes sense though...

Most MK fans have already bought the game or are going to buy it regardless of the cover, so putting the guests on it makes sense, because somebody (who inst a hardcore fan like us) could be walking around gamestop or wherever and see the box, and what do you know they just might happen to be a massive (Jason/Leatherface/Predator/Alien) and that could inspire them to pick up the box, look at it and maybe buy the game.

Point is that Leatherface, Jason and Predators are icons of the 80's but that's pretty much that.
Every other trial to bring back those characters in the 2000s was a fiasco.
Predators is the worst out of the three movies, both in terms of quality and commercial success.
The remake of Friday the 13th was a flop, as well the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Heck, even the last Nightmare movie was a bomb.

Alien is pretty much the same thing, although the recent hit of Alien Isolation could call interest to younger audience.

Predator and Alien, one versus the other is an interesting idea, but Leatherface and Jason?

Are we sure they are the popularity boost MK needs?

Just ask a guy in his 15s or early 20s who is Leatherface without googling it, and let me know the answer.

Look at what we have here different editions of MKX XL.

Texas Chainsaw 3D and the ANOES remake did suck, but FTth13 2009 wasn't bad. Regardless of quality and opinion of the films, they were all 3 were considered successes due to the money they made.

Leatherface and Jason have also had a vs comics series back in the day. They sucked ass, but that's because the writers sucked lol

I could say the same thing about anything else though. If I walk into a high school tomorrow and ask every freshman if they know who Johnny Cage is, I bet the number of yeses won't be that high lol its like anything else, some will, some won't. It's all a matter of what they are into.

As for the popularity boost, idk who else would work better? Akuma? SF won't have it, probably the same for Tekken characters. No anime fighter charcaters obviously due to artistic differences, and I doubt any younger people or people knew to the FGC even know any Soul Calibur characters.

So at that point you are really left with movie characters, comic characters, or other video game characters. DC chars aren't allowed to be in an M game apparently, and a lot of video game characters that would work probably aren't even that popular, with Kratos being an exception. Dante could work idk if Capcom would have it. Alex Mercer could work, but not many even know who he is.

Jason, Leatherface, Pred, Alien etc. are all immensely popular, especially when we are talking about people who are a little older, or at least born pre-2000s. Maybe not everybody likes them, but I would argue most know who they are. I am only 22 and I could probably teach a class on all of them lol

That's not entirely accurate (even if WB/NRS is using the wrong verbiage). There's only one edition of MKXL. The other 2 are just digital options for existing owners of MKX.

First option is the "komplete edition" disc.

Second option is the "komplete edition" digital upgrade if you already have MKX.

Third option is for those of us that already bought KP1 and only need the characters + whatever skin packs we decided to skip.

Maybe a stupid question, but is the krypt fully unlocked in the XL edition? My ps4 crashed and i lost all my progressieve. All brutalities, mobile game skins etc.. I dont have the mental power to het those again by playing the game. And 20 fucking dollars for full krypt unlock is insane! I want the XL edition when i have it all! Thanks you!

Oh i forgot to say..my PlayStation plus account could not restore my progressieve when i loaded the save game from the cloud!

With the XL edition, will all locked skins be unlocked or do you still have to unlock them like before? Also I don't see a mention of the Gold Scorpion in any of this.
