Since we are all still speculating which characters will and will not return for Mk7, I have made a complete list of all the Mk characters that have appeared since Mk1 till MKD (only Fighting games) and their possibilities, analyzing their involvement with the storyline.

I also wrote ALL the characters special moves, you decide which ones you want to see again.

The grades are:

0%: Impossible Returns, not one single chance.

5%-50%: Extremely Low Chances of returning but not impossible.

51%-69%: Low Chances but Possible.

70%-85%: Good Chances and high Possibilities.

86%-99%: Extremely High chances and Excellent Possibilities.

100%: Confirmed (No one so far).

Give each character the % you think they disserve, and let us know the chances they have for returning. I recommend you to read the characters analysis below if you are going to mark a high or low grade. There might be some facts you don’t know that could change your view of the character being rated.

Sonya Blade: 95%

“I absolutely see Sonya again in a future Mortal Kombat”.....Ed Boon words in her Bio Card (MKD).

She has been around ever since the original Mk. We have seen her battle against the forces of evil protecting her world and friends in the chaotic war between the realms. She leads and has in her command the most powerful technological Organization of earth, and as Mk4 states, she is a deadly weapon for the forces of good.

In MKDA, she joins her friends in order to defeat the new menace and find her missing partners. There, she learns of a new danger that threatens her world, the Red Dragon clan, and she ignores that Kano is still alive. She fell in battle during the final events of MKDA, yet she played the role of one of the evil bodyguards of Onaga during Deception. She was brainwashed and turned evil. This event could lead her character to a whole new direction, giving her a new storyline with huge potential.

Also, her relation with Johnny Cage should be developed; enough clues have been given on the games, movies and even comic books about a possible love, its time to go deep on this.

Sonya has always been in Mk, one way or the other, she plays a role in the storyline and is involved with many characters. She is one of the 3 Original chosen warriors, and still is the only chosen female that represents earth in battle.

Will she return evil? Will she return good? Only time will tell...and by the looks of Deception, and taking Boons words for true, she will most likely return.

Scorpion: 95%

Ed’s and everyone’s favorite character. One of the most popular around. I’m happy to say Scorpion evolved in Deception, with a new purpose that did not involve the typical vengeance-Quan Chi-Family-death-resurrection boring storyline. While some didn’t like the fact that he was portrayed as the “new hero” (I hate it since it seems like Ed only did it cause its his fave), I have to admit his storyline was interesting and finally played an important role.

Like Sonya, he has been around since Mk1, and his chances are very high. As most would say, Mk is not Mk without Scorpion.

Flame Kick Flip

Goro: 60%

The Ultimate Shokan remained as the champion of Mk till he faced Liu Kang, he fell in battle against the mortal who later won the tournament. Goro has always been switching sides, constantly, it’s all confusing.

We know he served Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn during Mk1, so he was evil. But later we discover that he is still alive in MKT, maybe his appearance was not cannon, but from the story, we know he happily serves Kahn as one of the sub-bosses.

In Mk4/Gold we now have 2 versions of him, in the original cannon Comic Book, he starts as a good and noble warrior, who unites forces with the Princess of Edenia, Kitana, and decides to end the Centaurian/Shokan war once and for all. But in the game, he is Shinnoks bodyguard, and wants nothing but the death of Liu Kang. But in other stories such as Kung Laos, he isn’t evil, he even teams with him.

The start of MKDA let us know for sure that Goro has finally decided to join the side of good, and he helps Kitana in battle, with his Shokan army, they plan to defeat Kahn once and for all. But he was mortally wounded by Noob-Saibot. Thought to be death, Goro actually survived the attack and joined forces once again with his supposed enemy, Shao Kahn, who healed him and promises to put the Shokan race above the Centaurs.

Goro later tricks Kitana’s army and destroys them all with his Shokan militia. And in a final display of Honor, he brutally kills Kitana in front of Shao Kahn.

Goro might return, but my guess is that he will once again stay out of another MK game. He doesn’t have any other purpose then to serve someone as a “bodyguard”, and it seems that there isn’t a more important reason to bring him back. Maybe another shokan could take his place?

Special Moves: 7

Fire ball
Multiple Punch Grab
Spinning Slap

Ultimate Force
Tremor Pound

Johnny Cage: 95%

The chosen warrior from Mk1 that has collected many haters like many fans. His most important role in Mk has been protecting the realms from evil, and helping his friends in battle. While not playable in MKD, he played the role of one of the evil bodyguards of Onaga. He was also brainwashed, and this event, if well developed, could lead Johnny Cage to a whole new direction, finally getting a decent and firm storyline that will make players take him seriously.

His relation with Sonya should be developed; enough clues have been given on the games, movies and even comic books about a possible love, its time to go deep on this.

Johnny Cage has been an important classic since the start, one way or the other he manages to stay in Mk, and there has to be a reason. If Johnny Cage gets a dramatic storyline change, he could very well be considered a serious character, not the funny guy of MK. But for now, like it or not, he forms part of the main heroes of Mk.

Special Moves: 6

Nut Punch
Shadow Kick
Green Fire Balls
Shadow Uppercut
Split Johnny Uppercut
Red Shadow Kick

Kano: 80%

The true leader of the Black Dragon Crime Organization. Kanos character has always been interesting. We have seen him in all his treachery stages, as criminal, as a hypocrite and as a man-coward thirsty for power and glory. He has been defeated in the past by his arch nemesis Sonya Blade, but he has always managed to escape or survive in the last moment.

Revived by Motaro during the final events of Mk3, Kano returned for more Kombat in MKDA. During Mk4 he was first the general of Kahn’s army, later in MKDA he borrowed his services to the Sorceress, and lastly, he was not only facing Sonya once again, but also a new reborn rival: The Red Dragon. Lets not forget he is the reason why Sheeva is “dead”.

His absence in MKD has lead many to believe that he was killed/defeated by Mavado during the final events of MKDA, reason why he doesn’t play a role in the new reborn Black Dragon clan of MKD. Kano might had been killed, but he could very well be hidden and alive. He could use the help of his arch nemesis Sonya, to finish Mavado and the red dragon members. An awesome new twist, with potential, for both characters.

Special Moves: 7

Sub-Zero/Noob-Saibot: 80%

Probably the most twisted character of all Mk. Since he was killed by Scorpion during the original tournament, everyone thought him to be dead, but MKD gave us another twist to think about. It appears that this Sub-Zero has been alive and involved in MK since the start.

If we take Noob-Smokes ending for true in MKD, then Sub-Zero has been Noob-Saibot in disguise. Living as a shadow or as a half demon. Waiting for the right moment to strike. Remember not all endings happen, this could be another “Kano-Liu Kang” ending but it could also be the start of a new era for this character.

Did Ashrah manage to kill him? Did he ever fought her? We haven’t seen the last of Noob-Saibot/Sub-Zero, and I think he has good chances of returning for more Kombat.

Special Moves: 8

Liu Kang: 85%

The true Champion of MK. He is one of the 3 original heroes of the story and has been involved in Mk since the very start. With his help, the realm of earth has managed to survive all invasions and shadows that have planned domination. He was thought to be invincible, but he was murdered by the deadly alliance during the early events of MKDA. However, we were all surprised to see him return in Deception as a Zombie, Human and even as a soul warrior. Many called his story boring and repetitive, but MKD finally changed that vision of Liu Kang. Whatever truly happened to him, who revived and used his body for criminal sadistic intentions, is still unknown.

His story holds potential like never before and it is definitely not the end of Liu Kang. If so, we at least need to know whats the force that has been manipulating his actions, and why was he revived.

Special Moves: 4

Fly Kick
Fire Ball
Low Fire Ball

Lord Rayden: 90%

The Thunder-god has played the important role of protector of Earth realm, and mentor of the chosen warriors since the start. He became an Elder god during the final events of MK4 but soon abandoned this position after many arguments with the Elder gods.

His thoughts about peace-war-interference are all very different when compared to the rest of the higher gods, who don’t really care to interfere in the war events unless it seriously affects them. Rayden fought alone against the 2 sorcerers as Earths last hope of survival, but he was defeated. He later formed a short alliance with the sorcerers in a desperate situation, but the 3 failed to defeat Onaga, even when Rayden sacrificed his elder essence.

He had a new face in MKD, he was no longer the patient good lord of earth, now he was resentful and angered god, not evil, but willing to punish anyone who dares to harm his realm. Rayden is finally getting the story twist he needs to become interesting once again. I don’t think we have seen the last of him, but something tells me he might not had survived the events of MKD. Lets hope Rayden is still alive, and lets hope we get to see an even meaner personality...close to psychotic and evil maybe.

Special Moves: 6

Torpedo

Teleport
Shocker
Reverse Lighting

Reptile: 80%

The first ninja that left the boring circle of repetitive pallet swap ninjas. Reptile adopted a more prehistoric reptilian look that changed many opinions about him. His role is more important then ever. He started as a faithful silly servant, with no other purpose then to serve his superiors. We learned that the more time he stays away from his people, he suffers devolution. After the death of Kahn in MKDA he became angered and crazed, he was loyal for a short time to the vampire Nitara, who abused of his weakness.

Later he realized who were this true enemies and the ones responsible for the death of the Emperor, and started a quest to annihilate then. During his search, he ended in a subterranean lava arena were he founded the ancient egg of the Dragon King, it broke and a light of beam hit Reptile. His body transformed and was the new home of the soul of Onaga, true Emperor of Outworld, the Dragon King.

In MKD, we only know that Onaga is using Reptiles body, no other information is known. Will he return as himself again? Will he still be possessed by Onaga? Only time will tell.

Special Moves: 8

Shang Tsung: 70%

The most evil and wicked character of all. The powerful sorcerer returned in MKDA with a completely new and awesome storyline. He formed an alliance with Quan Chi in order to revive the Dragon Kings undefeatable army and finish Liu Kang and Shao Kahn. They succeeded...in some parts.

During the final events of MKDA he faced Rayden and with the help of Quan Chi he defeated him. He later betrayed Quan Chi and fell to his hands, but soon formed an alliance with the thunder god and the sorcerer in order to defeat Onaga, who had return.

According to Liu Kangs bio in MKD, Raydens blast destroyed Shang Tsung, reason why Liu Kangs soul escaped from the sorcerer. It is still unknown what truly happened to Shang Tsung. No body stays dead in MK, so, Tsung could be back, and play an important role in Mk7, just like he did in the previous games.

Special Moves: 5

Fire Skulls

Volcanic Eruption
3D Fire

MK2

Kung Lao: 90%

Since Mk2 he became one of the main heroes of the story. He was left out of the cast in Mk4 but later returned in MKG with the same purpose as before, defeat the evil guys and avenge the death of his ancestor, the Original Kung Lao.

In MKDA he was deeply affected by the death of his friend Liu Kang, and was ready to destroy Shang Tsung for his acts. He trained with Master Bo Rai Cho who thought him a special technique for Kombat. He failed to defeat the Deadly Alliance and was manipulated by Onaga’s power, he instantly became his servant and one of his personal bodyguards.

Like the rest of the imprisoned heroes, we don’t know what his fate will be. He might be good, he might still be evil...only time will tell. I think Kung Lao will return, after all, everyone agrees that he will be the next MK champion...he could be.

Special Moves: 5

Hat Throw
Spin Forcefield
Teleport
Dive Kick
Whirlwind Kicks

Jade: 70%

Started as one of the 3 pallet swap female ninjas of Mk2. Jades story and purpose was unknown until MKU. We then discovered she was a faithful servant of the Emperor, but also Kitanas best friend. From facts of MKU and MKD, we know she betrayed Kahn and helped Kitana. She served queen Sindel with loyalty like no other.

She later witnessed the return of Onaga, the death of her Princess, and the capture of her Queen. While rescuing Sindel, she defeated evil Kitana (revived by Onaga) in battle and discovered that Tanya, the traitor, was still alive. Here we learn of their rivalry.

I don’t think there is a reason why not to see Jade again, I think she has good chances. Who knows, there might probably be another game with all the edenian female ninjas.

Special Moves: 6

Boomerang
Projectile Invincibility
Glow Kick (Blazing Nitro Kick)
Vanishing Winds
Razor-Rang
Dodging Shadows

Kintaro: 55%

Nothing really important is known about this amazing Shokan. He gave his services to his Master Shao Kahn after the “death” of Goro in Mk1 and was “killed by Rayden” in the end. Now, it IS possible that he was killed, but my guess is that Kintaro is still alive.

He seems to be the majorities favorite Shokan warrior, and now that Goro has been made playable in a 3D game, there are good chances to see this Shokan back in action for Mk7. There was even a sketch made for him during the production of MKDA. Kintaro could return.

Special Moves: 4

Fireball
Grab and Punch
Stomp
Taunt

Jax Briggs: 85%

Another of those hate-love characters. Jax has been around ever since Mk2. He joined the tournament to rescue his partner and best friend Lt. Sonya Blade. He managed to do so and returned to his world to get cybernetic arm implants. He fought in the Mk3-Mk4 invasions and just like his fellow partners, fell in battle during the final events of MKDA. He had always been in Sonya’s shadow, but in MKDA he went on a mission of his own to find and kill Hsu Hao and destroy the Red Dragon members.

As a character, he holds true potential, but just like many others, he needs to be more deeply developed. We don’t know what fate awaits Jax, he could return, his chances are good, but I guess we all have to wait and see. Like Kung Lao, he has become one of the main heroes of the game.

Special Moves: 8

Energy Wave
Gotcha Grab

Back Breaker
Quadruple Slam

Kitana: 95%

The Edenian Princess debuted in Mk2 as an evil assassin and daughter of Shao Kahn. She later discovered that the Emperor was not her true father and that her twin sister Mileena, was in fact a clone created by Shang Tsung.

She killed Mileena and during the invasion of MKU, she fought to reveal the truth to her evil resurrected mother about her past. But Mileena was reading the princesses mind, for she had been resurrected. We then learn that Kitana had been defeated and captured in Mk4, but she escaped to fight for Edenia, there she battled Mileena once again and locked her in a prison in her palace.

During MK4-MKDA she formed an alliance with Goro and the Shokans, and marched to battle to finish the weakened Emperor Shao Kahn. She will soon lament the death of her Shokan friend and the death of her friend and possible love, Liu Kang. In MKD she was killed by Shang Tsung and Quan Chi and resurrected to serve Onaga as one of his personal bodyguards.

Kitana holds potential, and because of her involvement with many characters in the game I think she might return. Her fate is unknown, and it’s probably one of the most twisted ones because of MKD Mileena. It’s still in discussion if the princess was freed from Onagas control but was later killed by Goro in a surprise attack. Only time will tell.

Mileena: 95%

She returned to MKD, but this time to shine for her own, finally away from Kitanas shadow. Mileena has always been a deceptive character, she holds true potential and has probably the most well elaborated storyline of the game.

After being defeated by Kitana in MK4, she was freed by Baraka during the early events of MKD to later serve Onaga in his quest of power. She posed as her twin and had full command of Kitanas army and the realm of Edenia. Because of Mileenas twisted storyline, it is still unclear what truly happened to Kitana.

It is believed that Mileena posed as the princess during the entire story of MKD (when we see Kitana in a blue rip off costume of Mileena, it could actually be Mileena), if true, this theory fits Goros ending and explains why we see a dying Kitana dressed in her MKDA alternate, and not in her blue-Mileena costume.

We also have her battle with Baraka. Did it happen? Did she truly killed Baraka or was she tricked and later killed by her “love”? I think Mileena was greatly developed in MKD, and she has high chances of returning. She plays one of the most important roles in the story of many characters.

Her ability to read her twins thoughts must be developed. Holds great potential.

Special Moves: 3

Sai Throw
Warp Kick
Ground Roll

Young Sub-Zero: 95%

Like Scorpion, he is the majorities favorite character. He has been around ever since his debut in Mk2. He was greatly developed in MKD and played an important role during the process of MKDA-MKD, he was no longer a wild card in constant battle against the ninja specter who haunted him.

I’m pretty sure Sub-Zero will return. He has high potential now, and many things are still unknown about him such as the power and secret of his armor, the Lin Kuei ancestors temple, Sektor, Hotaru, Smoke, Sareena, Frost, the medallion, Scorpion and the possible return of his evil brother Noob-Saibot.

It would be a nice change to see him miss a game, it is possible that he was killed/defeated during MKD since many many endings point to his doom, but we all know not all endings happen. I think he has high chances of coming back.

Special Moves: 7

Ice Ball
Ground Freeze
Slide
Ice Shower
Ice Clone
Ice Shaker
Cold Shoulder

Smoke: 80%

Smoke was just one more of the many boring pallet swap ninjas in Mk2, but he later developed an original story in Mk3. We learn that he is actually a member of the Lin Kuei, and Sub-Zeros best friend. Smoke didn’t manage to escape his clan so he was captured and transformed into a Cyborg ninja without a soul.

Whatever happened to him remained unknown during the final events of Mk3 till the early events of MKD. We then discover that Smoke was trapped and out of use in a dungeon of Shao Kahns castle. He was re-programmed by Noob-Saibot and served him without any protest, he didn’t have a mind of his own.

But we discover in Ashrahs ending that Smoke had started to fight this control while she faced Noob-Saibot. My guess is that we will see more of Smoke in MK7, but this time he will fight in his own, and more about his past will be revealed.

Special Moves: 6

Harpoon
Air Throw
Teleport Uppercut

Smokeycut
Stinky Cloud

Shao Kahn: 90%

The tyrannical Emperor had failed to conquer Earth during the events of Mk2-Mk3. During MK4-MKDA he was weakened and defeated, his army was slowly falling to Kitanas troops. He managed to survive the attack of the deadly alliance, for he had created a clone in order to trick them. He later searched for Goro and revived him, forming an ancient alliance with the Shokan Prince.

Many ages ago he had tricked and poisoned Onaga, causing his death, but he recently learned about the return of his old rival, the ancient Emperor of Outworld. With the help of Goro, Kahn must now find a way to destroy Onaga forever.

It is still unknown what truly happened with Kahn. We only know that his and Goros ending tie perfectly. He fought and defeated Onaga, and with his army of Shokan he defeated Kitanas and the Tarkatans troops. He later was happy to watch Kitanas death at the hands of her “friend” Goro, and a new era had began for Outworld.

Shao Kahn holds much potential for future storylines. Unlike Goro in Deception, he seems to have a more solid and interesting purpose. Kahns return had been planned ever since his “death” was announced.

Special Moves: 8

Green Arrow
Hammer
Shadow Charging Spikes
Uplifting Knee
Brutal Grab Punch
Taunt (Ridicule?)
Explosive Blast
Emperors Shield

Baraka: 85%

He destroyed the Order of Lights temple during Mk2, but his story has never been as important as it was in MKD. He is the leader of the Tarkatan troops and he commands these forces for the Dragon King. He freed Mileena from Kitanas palace and keeps the secret of her Deception.

Baraka has power like never before during the events of MKD, but only two things can defeat him, and that’s Mileenas betrayal, and the Emperors Shokan army. If she betrayed Baraka, then we know his troops were easily reduced by Mileenas new army, so he sent a Tarkatan to finish her but later tricked Mileena and killed her himself. But we also know Goro and his Shokan generals defeated his troops.

It is possible that he defeated Mileena, he probably killed her, but it is also possible that he died during the many battles that took place in MKD. Like his Tarkatan troops VS Sub-Zero, VS Goro and VS Mileenas army.

Baraka holds potential and has good chances of returning, we know he only serves those who will lead him to glory, first was Kahn, then Quan Chi, then Kahn again, and finally Onaga. Will he ever serve Kahn again? Will his possible “love” relation with Mileena grow? I guess we all have to wait and see.

Special Moves: 5

Blade Spark
Blade Swipe
Blade Fury

MK3

Sindel: 80%

The gothic witch-like Queen made a perfect return in MKD. Sindels story, like Mileenas, is also one of the most well elaborated ones around. She committed suicide after the death of her King and husband, Jerrod, to be later revived by Shao Kahn thousands of years later. She was the key of his earth domination during the invasion of Mk3.

She was later alerted by Kitana and convinced about her true past, she turned on the Emperor. After MK3, she remained classified as one of the lost characters, a mystery. The only thing that let us know that she was still alive was the fact that Kitana was still called “Princess” during MKGold and MKDA. Her return on MKD informed us that the Queen had been setting Order in Edenia, but the disappearance of her daughter forced her to go to battle, only to discover that she had been killed and resurrected for evil.

Sindel easily holds potential for the story, MKD didn’t really go deep with her in this aspect, although her relations with Tanya-Jade-Kitana-Mileena are important, but for a future game, Im sure much can be done, just like in Mk3. Somehow, Sindel should unite forces with Mileena, or even be tricked into thinking Mileena is Kitana, like all the Edenian people were and develop a close relation with the clone.

Special Moves: 6

Hair Attack
Scream
Fireball
Fly
Air Fireball
Sliding Foot Grab

Motaro: 55%

Motaro is one of those very underrated characters who disserves more credit then what he gets. He made an original appearance as the first and only Centaurian creature in the game, and he played the role of Sub-boss for Kahn during earths invasion in Mk3. His hatred towards the Shokan race is also something that has been explored deeply during the games.

What we know is that during the final events of MK3 and in the time of Mk4-MKDA, Motaro revived Kano with magic, only to be punished by Shao Kahn for failing to defeat Sonya in kombat. But Motaro was ambushed and killed by the Shokan Sheeva.

Lets remember that endings and now, even stories are not to be trusted! Motaro could had “died” just like Goro and Kahn “died”. He could still be alive. And if you are not convinced, he could very well return, for no one really dies in Mk.

Special Moves: 4

Grab and Smack
Teleport
Tail Fireball
High Jump

>Stryker: 70%

(Talking about very underrated characters) Stryker is probably the MOST underrated character of all. People are blinded of the potential he holds because of his rather....silly debut in Mk3. He looked and fought entirely like a normal human. But his story had importance. He was the lone survivor of a city once populated by millions. Something that takes away his potential is the fact that he played like a wild card, alone and not related with the chosen warriors, or any warrior at all for that matter.

Just a simple human. But the same hatred was given to characters such as Nightwolf and Tanya, and they made an impressive return in MKD. This leads me to believe that Stryker (like the ones mentioned above managed in MKD), will make a shocking return that will earn him the respect he disserves.

Special Moves: 4

Grenade attacks
Shoot Gun
Baton Trip
Baton Throw

Cyrax: 75%

One of the 3 Cyber Ninjas and another member of the Special Forces. Cyrax formed part of the Lin Kuei but was later transformed into a Cyborg with no soul, and programmed to fallow commands. He had the mission to annihilate Sub-Zero along side Sektor during the events of MK3, but he failed and Sub-Zero captured him in Jades desert, left there to wonder alone. He was later rescued by the Lin Kuei but he had began to “feel” different.

During the events of Mk4, Cyrax joined forces with Sonya Blade and Jax Briggs, with their help he managed to achieve his most desired dream, to become human. Cyrax then offers his services to the Special Forces warriors and leaves the side of evil forever.

His role in MKDA was of great importance, even if it didn’t have anything to do with the chaotic war against the Deadly Alliance. If his and Nitaras ending happened, Cyrax managed to free the Vampire people by helping Nitara retrieve the hidden orb that united her realm to the one of Shao Kahn.

But where did Cyrax go? Was Nitara loyal to her promise and sent him back to Earthrealm as agreed? Or did she manipulated and betrayed Cyrax? I don’t think there is a reason not to see Cyrax in MK7, others could take his place, but still, I think he has good chances. Not as high as others, but good chances.

Special Moves: 6

Bombs
Net
Teleport
Air Throw
Spin Kicks
Slice and Dice

Sektor: 90%

Fans have been waiting for him ever since MKD was announced. Sektor seriously holds huge potential for storyline twists and many connections that involve characters such as Sub-Zero, Sonya, Cyrax and even Frost. He is one of the Cyborg ninjas, and the only one who remains evil.

He was not playable in MKDA, yet he played a role in the storyline, and was playable in the Gameboy edition. We know that he and Sub-Zero fought for the Lin Kuei Master title and for the Dragon medallion, Sektor was defeated and managed to escape Sub-Zeros fury. But where did he go? We know he fled to Japan to create his own clan, and if his ending is true, he was successful. The Tekunin are now in control of that nation, and will soon take over the world.

His inclusion in the Gameboy version (Tournament Edition) was probably the first step of letting fans know that we haven’t seen the last of him. His absence in MKD is explained by his ending. He must be getting his army ready. Remember another character included was Noob-Saibot, he was not playable in MKDA, but he later played a role in MKD. Mk7 will most likely be Sektors game.

Special Moves: 4

Teleport Uppercut
Missiles
Heat Seeking Missile
Spin Kicks

Sheeva: 70%

Another underrated character. Sheeva played the role of being the personal protector of Sindel during the time of Mk3, she served Shao Kahn with loyalty until she discovered that he had given the Centaur Motaro a higher rank in the extermination squads.

She was eager to destroy Shao Kahn herself after discovering that he was torturing her race in Outworld. We know she is responsible for the death of Motaro, in a surprise attack, she managed to kill him. During that process she freed Kano who had promised to help her defeat Shao Kahn, but he betrayed her and Kahn himself stabbed Sheeva with a sword ending her life.

Lets look back at the many deaths of MK....good. Now, I think Sheeva has high chances of returning for more Kombat. We cant have seen the last of the Shokan female. My guess is that just like Tanya, Kabal, Nightwolf and other underrated characters, she will make a shocking return and surprise us all. Sheeva has potential if well developed. Her relation with Sindel and a possible relation with Goro could lead to many twisted revelations.

Maybe she will have 4 boobs...like Goros pectorals.

Special Moves: 3

Stomp
Fireball
Ground Shake

Nightwolf: 70%

His role in Mk3 was important, but its overlooked by most. His sacred land becomes a vital threat to Kahn's occupation of Earth, there, with the magic of his Shaman people he protects Earth warriors for a limited time, enough to plan their strategies against the Dark Emperor and be ready to attack.

He became one of those lost characters due to the lack of fan interest, but he made a shocking return in MKD, with an interesting storyline full of potential. We learn the he has become leader of his tribe (the main Shaman) and has assumed the role of Sin-eater of his tribe, in order to corrupt his soul and travel to the Netherrealm where he is sure he will be able to trap Onaga.

It is possible that his ending happened, and it could easily connect to others. Onaga could be bounded by Nightwolfs magic in the pits of hell, but if this happened, if Nightwolf managed to get rid of the sins, where was he expelled? It said “Into the Unknown”, that could be anywhere.

While his independent role was interesting in MKD, I don’t think Nightwolf will return for MK7. I think he has good chances of coming back like others, but it seems that his mission has ended for now. Unless the team decides to involve him deeply with other characters, he might not return.

Special Moves: 5

Arrow
Hatchet Uppercut
Rhino Charge
Lighting from Above
Reflector

Kabal: 85%

One of the new favorites of Mk3, he debuted as a mysterious chosen warrior that had been betrayed by Kahn, attacked by his extermination squad. This event made Kabal to realize the evil of his actions and he abandoned the Black Dragon organization. He will never live a life of crime again...

At least that’s what we all thought during the events of Mk4 and MKDA. But Kabal was attacked by the Red Dragon member Mavado during the early events of MKDA. The criminal defeated Kabal and took his hook-swords. Kabal was mortally wounded, but he was healed by Havik who convinced him to reform the Black Dragon Organization.

With apparently no good reason, Kabal returned to his criminal life and decided to bring the black dragon clan back to its old glory by getting new young members, by a pic seen in his bios, we know that he found and killed Mavado.

Kabals role in MKD is very important. He is the reason why Mavado didn’t return for battle, he is the reason why the Black Dragon hasn’t disappeared and he is the reason why Kira and Kobra joined the kombat. He is easily involved with other characters such as Sonya and the rest of the Special Forces team, as well as the red dragons, Havik and even the rest of the chosen warriors.

Kabal is important. Unless Kano is no longer around, he is to be considered the ultimate leader of the Black Dragon. His chances are high, but it’s possible that the Black Dragon might take a rest for Mk7.

Special Moves: 4

Raging Flash
Plasma Blast
Ground Saw
Nomad Touch

MKU/T

Rain: 70%

One of the many pallet swap ninjas. Rain, although completely unoriginal in terms of costume and looks, had an interesting story with potential. He is an Edenian who escaped when he was a small child Kahns invasion, but he returns thousands of years later as a noble servant of the emperor. He decided to betray his realm rather then suffer by the hands of Kahn.

He then turns on Kahn when Kitana reveals to him that his father, once a General of the Edenian army, was killed by Kahn himself. But his new alliance with the forces of good comes under question when he mysteriously disappears during an extermination squad attack. He was actually heading to destroy Kahn.

Just like Sheeva and Stryker, I think Rain could play an interesting and even important role in the story of Mk. He holds potential for being a deceptive character, we would never know his true intentions till the end. Rain could emerge as a completely original character like other ninjas managed to do such as Smoke and Ermac. He could even help improve storylines such as Kitanas.

After seeing so many underrated characters return in MKD, I think Rain has high possibilities of coming back for more Kombat.

Special Moves: 3

Lighting
Levitation Ball
Super Roundhouse

Chameleon: 5%

I seriously see no importance in this character. No story, no original moves, no nothing. Just a mix of all the pallet swap ninjas. Nothing special. Of course he can be developed, but with all the characters we have, I doubt we will see him anytime soon.

Ermac: 80%

Ermac truly holds potential, probably the highest story-potential of all ninjas. During the events of MkU we learn that he was created by the sorcery of Kahn, he is a life force brought together by the souls of extinguished Outworld warriors. Shao Kahn has managed to take possession of these souls, and used them to fight on the side of tyranny.

His role in MKU/T was practically small. He was just a wild card, and one more of the many pallet swaps. After so many years of silence, we learn that he is still alive, living in misery, but he becomes involved with Kenshi during the events of MKDA. He teaches Kenshi his telepathic powers. Kenshi then helps him control the power of those souls and be free from Khans dominion.

His role is extremely important in Deception, for he allies with spirit Liu Kang in order to free the spirits comrades that are being manipulated by Onagas power. If his ending happened, then all 5 warriors were awaken from evil.

I think we haven’t seen the last of Ermac, by far, he is the only one who senses another terrible power, the One Being. Ermacs role in the story is far from over. He has good chances of coming back.

Special Moves: 8

Fireball
Exploding Teleport Punch
Telekinetic Slam
Mystic Float
Mystic Bomb
Dive Kick
Telekinetic Throw
Hado-Energy

Khameleon: 40%

Unlike Chameleon, this female actually had a story and an ending. It was quite interesting to see her relation with Reptile and the story of her world. I think she holds story potential, but she needs to stay away from the Mileena-Jade-Kitana look. Its completely unoriginal and boring.

It would be nice to see her with a new original look, original moves, and a deeper storyline, but I doubt it.

MK4/G

Kai: 75%

Again, another underrated character with huge potential. Kai debuted in Mk4 as a member of the White Lotus Secret Society, and it was revealed that he had a close friendship with Liu Kang. However, no more of his story was revealed.

In his ending we learn that Rayden trusts him and that Kai has true power. Nothing else is known. However, a few awesome sketches for him were done during MKDA, this indicates that the team has not forgotten Kai. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him return. I trust that he can cause a shocking come back, with a good storyline that involves many warriors.

Special Moves: 5

Falling Fireball
Rising Fireball
Handstand Moves
Turbo Air Fist
Super Roundhouse

Shinnok: 70%

This Elder god could had been one of the best bosses ever, but the lazy team decided to give him everyones special moves, making him completely unoriginal in that aspect. But he had a decent look and an amazing storyline.

Nothing is known about Shinnok since Mk4. We can only assume that Quan Chi did manage to defeat him since he has the real amulet. Maybe Quan Chis Mk4 ending did happen, maybe only part of it did. Maybe Shinnok is the One Being controlling Kahn and Onaga.

Shinnok has potential, just give him his own set of moves and an improved tyrannical look. Besides, he had 2 of the best fatalities of Mk4.

Special Moves:

Anyone he impersonates in Mk4.

Reiko: 75%

He is one of the characters who has caused more debates, all because of his storyline, and this proves that he has enough potential to return. It has been confirmed that he is not Shao Kahn, but he could very well be related to him, or play a very important role in the tournament because of this.

We know he was a General of Shinnoks army ages ago, but when Shinnok failed to win battle it was thought that Reiko had been killed, but he returned in Mk4 to lead Shinnoks minions against the forces of earth.

Reiko is a very popular character, I think he has high chances of returning. Just like Tanya, Nightwolf, Kabal and others, he could make a shocking return.

Special Moves: 4

Teleport Slam
Quick Spin Behind
Ninja Stars
Flip Kick

Jarek: 70%

Underrated character for good reasons. He was practically Kano with a new look. Jarek holds potential if well developed. To start, he needs his own set of moves.

His storyline seemed promising but it lacked development. His alignment with the Special Forces Agent Sonya Blade could had leaded to so many awesome twists. I think, now that the Black Dragon Clan has been reformed, that Jarek has high chances of making a decent comeback, looking like he did in Mk4, but with a new deep storyline.

We know Sonya defeated him in the final events of Mk4, he probably died, he probably never faced her at the end. He might had wondered lost in Outworld. Who knows? We might just see more of Jarek in a future Mk...

Special Moves: 4

Cannonball
Spinning Blade
Ground Shaker
Vertical Cannonball

Tanya: 70%

Tanya made one of the most impressive returns. Once a hated character, she has proven to be an original warrior with potential in MKD, getting the support of many fans. We know from Mk4 that she is the traitor who allowed Shinnok to escape the pits of hell and destroy Edenia.

Deception is no exception, she is forced by Baraka to join Onaga in his quest of the Kamidogu. She once again betrays her homeland. We discover in MKD that Tanyas main rival is not Kitana, its actually Jade.

Like Jade, I think Tanya could return, but something tells me we might not see these two warriors in the future installment, however, I do think they have good chances. I think her involvement in MKD was important, but not fully developed. She did have knowledge of the location of the Kamidogu, this made her important, but that’s it. Perhaps she was killed and we have seen the last of Tanya for now. Maybe not...

Special Moves: 5

Fireball
Air Fireball
Rolling Split Kicks
Drill Kick
Find Me

Fujin: 70%

One of the favorites of Mk4. The god of Wind joins Rayden during the war with Shinnok in order to save the Elder gods and the realm of earth. From a guide we learn that he is Raydens brother, but maybe the word “brother” had another meaning.

At the end, he becomes the new mentor of the heroes and protector of earth realm, for Rayden assumes the position of Elder god. But during the events of MKDA, he is ordered to stay and protect earth, while Rayden abandons his elder god status to fight for his mortals in Outworld.

I think Fujin has high chances of coming back. He has so much potential, and he could play and interesting and important role in Raydens new behavior towards everything. This could even lead them both to fight for Earth.

Special Moves: 5

Whirlwind Spin
Levitate
Slam
Super Knee
Air Dive Kick

Quan Chi: 70%

Another Mk4 favorite. Quan Chi debuted as a dark sorcerer with ambition and power. He managed to free Shinnok from hell, and in exchange for his services, the Elder god granted him the position of arch-sorcerer of his expanded Netherealm. But Quan Chi had in his location the real amulet of power, and using it he challenged and probably killed Shinnok.

He failed to defeat Scorpion however, for he had been transported along side the ninja specter to the Netherrealm where he was tormented. He then discovered the amulets power, allied with Moloch and Drahmin, betrayed them and escaped Scorpion and hell. He discovered the ancient undefeatable army of Onaga and symbols of magic.

He then formed a deadly alliance with Shang Tsung and defeated Rayden and the heroes. But Onaga had returned during the events of MKD and he failed to stop him. It is unknown what truly happened to Quan Chi, he could had died along side Tsung after Rayden released his essence, or he could escaped and survive the blast.

Either way, Quan Chi has enough potential to return. He still has unfinished business with Moloch, Drahmin and Scorpion.

Special Moves: 6

Air Throw
Tele-Stomp
Green Skull
Weapon Steal
Dash Kick
Rising Star

MK5

Bo Rai Cho: 60%

His inclusion in MKDA was quite confusing for many fans, for they could only see another joke character, but strangely, very different from the rest, because he was able to puke, fart, get drunk, and he was extremely fat, yet, he was a deadly expert in Kombat.

Behind his rather unattractive look, Bo Rai Cho had a strong storyline that made him fit the atmosphere of the game. Born in Outworld, he secretly taught warriors from Earthrealm techniques to defeat Shang Tsung, he succeeded with Liu Kang. His wisdom was no longer needed until MKDA. After the death of Liu Kang, Bo Rai Cho trained Kung Lao and taught him a special move that would be powerful enough to defeat Tsung.

But during the end of MKDA, he discovered that Li Mei was in danger and he hurried to save her from the Deadly Alliance. On his way back, he met Rayden and the heroes marching to battle, he could only bid them a glorious victory, for Li Mei was his main concern. We know he healed and trained her, and he was saddened because of the results of the battle that took place in Tsungs palace. And if his ending is true, he received the visit of Spirit Liu Kang who inspired him to battle against the forces of Onaga, receiving orders from Mileena, who was posing as princess Kitana.

Bo Rai Cho is an interesting character, however, I don’t see him returning for Mk7. We know the team loves him, and we all have to be honest, he has huge potential. His character can be developed in many ways. I have always liked him (though I was unconvinced in the start), but I think he will take a rest. I doubt he was killed, but it would be interesting to see him die. It could affect many characters. Li Mei for a start.

Special Moves: 4

Flip Flop
Ground Stomp
Belly Bash
Puke Puddle

Li Mei: 75%

Li Mei made a shocking return for MKD. She was considered a lame rip off of Mileena because of her Sais, and to make things worst, her story wasn’t greatly developed, however, there was potential in this very underrated character.

The perfect prove is MKD. Everyone thought she had died and that she wasn’t going to be seen again, but not only did she return along side her so called rip off, Mileena, but she also returned with a completely new and improved look and storyline, winning the heart of many MK fans.

Her role in MKDA was interesting, she fought for her people in a fake tournament created by Quan Chi and Tsung, and she had problems with Kano. She was tricked by the sorceress when she won their tournament and almost killed, but Bo Rai Cho saved her. In MKD she feels corrupted. The brief moment that her soul occupied the dead warrior of Onaga changed her in many ways. Li Mei holds potential like never before. As we can see in her ending, she is drawn by evil and betrays her friends.

I think Li Mei has enough story potential to return, but just like Bo Rai cho, for some reason, I think she will take a rest in MK7. Im sure we haven’t seen the last of Li Mei.

Special Moves: 4

Flying Fists
Cartwheel
Clock Kick
Spark

Moloch: 50%

I don’t think he has high chances of returning but its possible. He did have after all a close relation with Drahmin and played an important role with the Deadly Alliance, and Scorpion. I think he could return if well developed, not just like a 1 time wonder.

Special Moves: 3

Suction
Earth Quake
Dash

Kenshi: 80%

Kenshi was one of the favorite new characters of MKDA. We know Tsung tricked Kenshi and made him go blind after releasing the souls of his ancestors, but he is guided by his sword. He met with Ermac and learned Telekinetic powers from the ninja. He later joined the Special Forces in Sonyas team. He was searching for the missing agent Cyrax, and using this opportunity to find and kill Tsung himself.

He fought and was defeated by Mavado during the end of MKDA but was found and healed by Sub-Zero. He also learns of Tsungs “death” because the souls of his ancestors return to his sword.

Kenshi has huge potential as a character. I seriously don’t see a reason of why he should miss Mk7, but something tells me that he might take a rest for this game, just like Li Mei and Bo Rai Cho might do.

Special Moves: 5

Telekinetic Push
Telekinetic Toss
Telekinetic Slam
Tele-Fury
Mind Warp

Mavado: 80%

His story ties with many characters. He is important for potential twists with the Black Dragon Clan, the Special Forces, the Lin Kuei, and lastly the Red Dragon. We learn that the Red Dragon was actually the crime Organization that gave origin to the Black Dragon. Mavado defeated Kabal during the early events of MKDA and took his hook-swords, he later faced and defeated Kenshi for the Deadly Alliance.

It is still uncertain what happened to him, but according to a pic seen in Kabals bio (and the bio itself), he was killed by Kabal. Before this though, he might had finished Kano in kombat. My guess is that Mavado was only defeated, he is still alive and waiting for the perfect time to return. I think there are good chances of seeing him return in MK7.

Special Moves: 2

Grapple Hook Strike
Change Sides Hook

Nitara: 90%

Vampires have to play an important role in the story! Nitara is one of the characters with most potential. She made an impressive and shocking debut in MKDA which won her many fans. She is the reason why Reptile couldn’t help Kahn, and because of her the “Emperor was defeated” (that’s what we know during MKDA).

Her and Cyraxs absence in MKD makes us all assume that her ending happened, which perfectly ties with Cyraxs and Reptiles (cannon). If Nitara managed to free her people by breaking the orb, then she must be busy reconstructing her world, getting stronger. Her necklace is also interesting, we know is the reason why she can travel to many realms and even be immune to earths light.

What will she do? So many potential stories can be developed for our vampire. Will she aid Earth? Join Onaga? Join the One being and invade earth? Nitara is a neutral character, to me, she seems more good then evil.

Many were upset because of her absence in MKD, my guess is that they were letting her rest to bring her back, better then ever in Mk7.

Special Moves:

Unicorn Kick
Blood Spit

Drahmin: 75%

This character is very underrated IMO. He has a deep storyline and his ending had so much potential, too bad he never met Quan Chi....or did he? Probably he did face Quan Chi after he escaped Raydens blast. But its not likely.

Drahmin, like Nitara and Mavado, needs to return. He must be developed. We know he is a demon, hired by Quan Chi in the Netherrealm to protect him from Scorpion. But Quan Chi had betrayed Drahmin and he then served Tsung, waiting for the right moment to attack....but in his past life, he was a King. He could have close relations with Onaga and even the One Being. Lots of story potential.

Special Moves: 4

Flies Attack
Propeller Clock
Super Uppercut
Ground Smash

Hsu Hao: 55%

In MKDA, it seemed that he was created only to fill room for the Red Dragon clans story. From the start he gave the impression of being behind Mavados shadow (after, of course, all the speculation of him being Shao Kahn), but played a rather important role in the story, though it wasn’t well developed.

He infiltrated the Special Forces and managed to destroy the secret Agency, this affected many characters in the game, including himself (the consequences). He was ordered by Mavado to find and kill Tsung, for Mavado was receiving orders from Quan Chi.

His ending was very clear, tied with Jax, he died a most painful death when facing the Special Forces agent who discovered his betrayal. We know many characters only pretend to die, Hsu Hao could very well still be alive. I do think he could return, he could play a larger role like Mavado and not be a second class character, but maybe he isn’t needed for the red dragon. Maybe a new character related to this clan will take his place.

Special Moves: 2

Cyrus Stomp
Kahn Clap

Mokap: 5%

He had no original special moves and his role in the story was completely unimportant. He could be developed, but he needs a serious dramatic change. Mokap was intended to be a joke character, nothing to take serious. I don’t see any future for him in Mk7, or Mk for that matter.

Frost: 85%

The icy ninja has high chances of coming back. From her story in MKDA and Sub-Zeros story in MKD, we know that she did try to steal the Dragon medallion and “killed” herself in the attempt.

Frost has huge story potential. She can be the cause of many incredible twists in the storyline. Is she just ambitious or truly evil? Will she join Sektor in the Tukenin to get the Medallion? What are her thoughts and relations with Sareena? Will she destroy the new Lin Kuei? Will she join Sub-Zeros brother? Will she ever get along with Sonya?

Frost is one of those characters who cant be thrown away easily. Its highly possible that she is still alive, and highly possible to see her return for Mk7.

Special Moves: 2

Slide
Ground Ice

Sareena: 80%

Huge story potential. Like Noob-Saibot and Sektor, she was included in the Gameboy of MKDA. Her inclusion could very well mean that we will see more of her in a future Mk. She was even in the Krypt of MKD. My guess is that the team has future plans for the demon.

Sareena can cause so many twists with so many stories, her relation with Sub-Zero, with Ashrah, with Frost, with Quan Chi, even with Sektor....There is so much that can be done with Sareena.

Also, lets not forget her role as a member of the Brotherhood of the Shadow clan, she hates the clan, yet she works for it. She also has close relations with Shinnok and even the original Sub-Zero (Noob-Saibot). In MKTE we discover that she had freed Sub-Zeros older brother many years ago, and that fact ties perfectly with Noob Saibots ending and storyline in MKD.

There is more to Sareena then what meets the eye. We will see more of her.

Special Moves: 2

Cart Wheel
Flaming Skull

Blaze: 75%

Like Mokap, he had no original special moves...Unlike Mokap, he has potential. Blazes story can be developed greatly and very easily. We know he was the guardian of the Dragon Egg and was enslaved by the holy man who worshiped Onaga. Since Onaga has truly returned, his ending could had happen.

But, WHATS his so mysterious quest??? There is a quest he was willing to finish before being captured, and now that he is free, he has returned to complete it. Just give him an awesome original look like the ones seen in the Krypt sketches and Blaze will instantly become one of the main characters, for good...or evil.

MK6

Ashrah: 80%

Huge potential. A demon trying to purify herself. We learn that Ashrah is one of the many sisters that serve Quan Chi, but she isn’t happy with this. Quan Chi then sends her own sisters to finish her.

Ashrah finds a sword of power that purifies her each time she kills a demon. Slowly, she tries to finish enough so she can be expelled from hell and be free. According to her ending, she defeated Noob-Saibot and was expelled into the unknown, but the sword stayed behind, to help another demon to escape and be pure.

I think its highly possible that she defeated Noob-Saibot (not kill) and that by doing this, Smoke gained consciousness and escaped Noobs control.

Ashrah has huge potential. It must be developed.

Special Moves: 4

Heavenly Light
Lightning Blast
Spin Cycle
Natures Torpedo

Dairou: 68%

He has good chances of coming back. He has potential and his story and relations with Hotaru, Darrius and the Order Realm are all interesting. I doubt he managed to kill Hotaru, he probably failed or never faced him.

Dairou could return, but as a neutral character, I see more importance in Hotaru and Darrius, leaders of Order and Revolution.

Special Moves: 3

Tombstone Drop
Stealthy Shadows
Iron Leg

Kobra: 68%

Very underrated character. What makes him interesting is his psychotic personality. He is important now that the new black Dragon clan has started. Many think that Kiras ending will happen and that he will be killed by her, but something tells me that Kira is the one who will fall, since that’s the last thing the majority expects.

His story wasn’t developed well. We only know his personality and that he belongs to the black dragon clan, but he has potential. Just keep away from him anything that belongs to Kano (heart rip).

Special Moves: 5

Windmill Kick
Burning Fist
Tele-Punch
Chi-Blast
Crouching Chi-Blast

Darrius: 70

I see more potential in him then in Dairou. He opposes the regime of Hotaru and the exaggerated laws of Order in the Seidan realm. I think he will face and defeat Hotaru and take the realm of Seido for him and the revolutionaries, leading the realm to destruction...or improvement maybe?

His role in the events of MKD with Onaga is minor, and unimportant. Hopefully he can be more developed in a future game.

Special Moves: 4

Tricky Blast
Twisty Kick
Chest Cruncher
Target Practice

Kira: 65%

A rip off of Kano and Sonya. She disappointed by stealing important special moves of these characters, it made her unoriginal. Even her alternate look was extremely similar to Sonyas in MKDA.

However, she has great story potential. She was recruited by Kabal to form part of a new Black Dragon clan that will soon be the cause of the downfall of civilization. Like Kobra, she is important for the new clan, and unlike him, her story was well developed. Many think that Kiras ending will happen and that Kobra will be killed by her, but something tells me that Kira is the one who will fall, since that’s the last thing the majority expects.

Kira has potential, just make her original, away from anything that belongs to Sonya and Kano.

Special Moves: 3

Night Shade
Cannon Ball
Kiss

Havik: 85%

Huge potential. His character can easily be the cause of many important storyline twists. He doesn’t care who he helps, as long as it produces chaos. His never ending battle with Hotaru is also interesting, it would be shocking to see Havik take the realm of Seido and destroy Order. He could even form an alliance with Darrius.

His ending is also very interesting but highly impossible. He defeated Onaga and ate his heart that had resurrection powers. With it, he revived Shao Kahn. But the one revived is the clone, for Kahn never truly died.

Havik is very important, something tells me he might be the main cause of the triumph of good....or evil.

Special Moves: 5

Torso Spin
Diving Corpse
Crackling Legs Projectile
Head Snap
Corpse Taunt

Hotaru: 85%

Like Havik, huge story potential. He is important, and he might also be the main cause of the triumph of good or evil. He follows Order, but he doesn’t care what side he chooses as long as it brings order.

His story was developed nicely and it has potential for many twists that involve not only Havik, but also Darrius, Dairou, and Sub-Zero. Hotaru has good chances of coming back. I guess he could sit out of a game, and if he does, Havik should also stay away. I don’t see these 2 characters separated. Even if they were never mentioned in the others story, its obvious that one needs the other.

Special Moves: 2

Grasshopper
Lava Burst

Shujinko: 65%

Unoriginal in terms of special moves...yes. But he has strong storyline potential. Shujinko plays one of the most important roles in the entire story. Because of him Onaga managed to obtain the Kamidogu, and maybe because of him, Onaga managed to succeed.

It is unknown what truly happened in the end of MKD. Maybe Shujinko managed to defeat Onaga, but his victory was short lived, for he had something to settle with Rayden.

I think Shujinko could had died, it is possible, but he could very well had survived. Only time will tell. He has potential, enough to return for a next game.

Onaga: 85%

We haven’t seen the last of him. He is not just a 1 game wonder. He has high chances of returning. He needs to evolve, and we need to know more of him, the One Being and his relation with Shao Kahn.

I'll say that Kano is somewhere between 50% and 75%. his story most likely won't concern the black dragon any more, beings that he hasn't spoken to them in 10 years. he may not be in the next installment cuz it seems unlikely that he could escape this one, but there is always the possibility that he could have been kicked off a cliff by Mavado, but he hung on a ledge. just before Mavado stomps his fingers, Kabal pulls his hookswords out of Mavado's sheiths and kills him from behind. Kabal would have killed Kano if he would have seen him, but he didn't. + Kano has earned a repution for sitting out every other game. why should he ruin the tradition? smile

PS- its 'Jax' Jackson BRIGGS, not Griggs

PSS- Jarek has a better chance than Bo' Rai Cho!? wtf!?

Wow, man, that took the whole page! lol

Anyways, I'll do 3 at a time if that's ok with you...

Sub-Zero: 99%

He's got a lot going for him and with Noob Saibot revealed as his older brother and with other characters like Sektor and Sareena still around, there's much more for Sub's storyline. Perhaps Scorpion and Sub-Zero will team up to stop Noob Saibot. You never know. And how can we be sure if Frost is truly dead? Perhaps if she's still alive and finds a way to gain conciousness and such, maybe she'll try to get some help on taking control of the Lin Kuei.

Fighting style choices for him:

Ice Dragon (basically a lot like his Dragon style in MKDA (not the crappy MKD version) but with some modifications and tons of additions; should be his hardest to master style but also his best)

Kori Blade (more like a Straight Sword)

Special move choices for him:

Freeze
Slide
Ice Clone
Ice Shaker
Cold Shoulder
Ice Shower
Ice Wall

Scorpion: 99%

He's Ed Boon's favorite. Both he and Sub-Zero are said to not be excluded from another MK game by Boon himself. I hope to see more development in Scorpion's storyline and perhaps involvement with Sub-Zero and Noob Saibot and such.

Fighting style choices for him:

Shirai Ryu (named after his clan; it's a real style of Ninjutsu; not sure if it still exists though; it'll have good speed and decent power and such)

Shinobi Katana (basically another name for a Ninja Sword; I like the way it was in MKDA though they need to do more with it like with all other styles)

Special move choices for him:

Spear
Teleport Punch
Forward Leap Punch
Scissor Takedown Kick
Fire Breath
Summon Hellfire
Fiery Flipkick

Frost: 80%

I'd like to see her again and I have a feeling that she's not dead. I hope there will be more revelation on her origins and such other than Sub-Zero concluding that both he and Frost are the descendants of the people in those ruins. I wonder what other intentions she has and such.

Fighting style choices for her:

Tong Bei: It needs to be more fluid. she should keep it though. she did use those techniques to win Sub-Zero's tournament.

Ice Daggers: It's fitting for her though I hope she will use them differently from Mileena's Sais.

Special move choices for her: Ground Freeze Icy Slide: It should work differently from Sub-Zero's version. Ice Ball: an actual ball of ice being sent towards the opponent

As you can see from POV, MK7 is pretty much up in the air. We don't what direction storywise is going. Most of the endings in Deception to me didn't give that much. Also I didn't see any of the new characters in Deception haven't too much of an impact to the MK story. I'll be suprise if the MK team bring any of the new characters in Deception back. Besides Scop and Sub I don't know who to expect back for MK7.

While I do agree that most of the new characters didn’t have a strong impact in the story, I suggest you to look back and see what happened with Li Mei and Bo Rai Cho. They were considered the last options for MKD, and BOOM! They were 2 of the first confirmed characters. grin

PSS- Jarek has a better chance than Bo' Rai Cho!? wtf!?

LOL. Exactly. I think Bo Rai Cho played his part in MKD, I don’t think he will return for Mk7, he needs to give his spot for another character with potential.

As for Jarek...with the way the new black dragon story is evolving, I think there is more to him that will be revealed. BTW, thanks for the correction, fixed now. wink

I agree. Sub-Zero and Frost have HUGE story potential. Sub-Zero has evolved greatly, and he is extremely important now. Frost cant be dead, not yet.

I know it's tough to guess on who will be in the next game, but I'm going to go out on a limb here, so if people disagree, well, it IS just a guess after all:

Mk1

Sonya: 90% (Most fans, not me though, want her back)
Scorpion: 100% (Boons favorite)
Goro: 60% (He's in MK:D on the Cube, so I doubt he'll be back in mk7)
Johnny Cage: 70% (He's sat out once, so it's possible he might be back)
Liu Kang: 40% (not many fans really wanted him back)
Rayden: 90% (alot of people want to see where his storyline will go)
Sub-Zero/Noob-Saibot: 95% (People want a real showdown with Subbie)
Kano: 50% (He could be back, but I'm guessing they keep him out again)
Shang Tsung: 60% (Same as Kano, he could be in storylines though)
Reptile: 65% (His storyline has gone pretty far, I think he'll sit out)

Mk2

Baraka: 75% (Still a fan favorite, and mine, he could have more plot)
Young Sub-Zero: 100% (Like Ken and Ryu, there will be Scorp & Subbie)
Jax: 50% (Has fallen way out of favor with fans with homie thing)
Mileena: 75% (I think her triumphant return to MK:D will get her another)
Kitana: 70% (Is she dead? Fans are divided on her return)
Shao Kahn: 90% (Most fans want him back and he's a major player)
Kung Lao: 95% (Lots are already looking to him as the next champion)
Jade: 70% (People like her, but I'm not convinced she'll return)
Smoke: 85% (A good story that I think alot would like to see explored)
Kintaro: 65% (People like him, it could be enough to bring him back)

Mk3

Stryker: 10% (People are very divided on him, but his parts been small)
Sindel: 60% (I say one and done with her, she sits next game)
Sheeva: 40% (I'm on the fence with Sheeva, but my gut tells me no)
Sektor: 95% (Too many fans want him back for him not to return)
Kabal: 80% (The new face of the Black Dragon wouldn't be left out, right?)
Cyrax: 60% (If a cyber ninja returns, it'll be Sektor, not Cyrax)
Nightwolf: 40% (Not that many dug his story enough to warrant a return)
Motaro: 5% (Underrated? Maybe, but not enough fans like this guy)

MkU/T

Rain: 80% (Same as Sektor, too many fans like him for him not to be back)
Chameleon: 5% (I seriously doubt it)
Ermac: 90% (He's got a good story, one of the few that leads into MK7)
Khameleon: 5% (Not gonna happen)

Mk4

Fujin: 80% (People like him, and a plot with him vs Rayden could work)
Tanya: 65% (Good in MK:D, but still too much of a loner to hold a spot)
Reiko: 50% (Never gained much traction as a character)
Kai: 75% (I could see him returning, perhaps with Kung Lao)
Jarek : 30% (Most see him as a Kano clone)
Quan Chi: 55% (He's been in MK too much since MK4, he'll sit)
Shinnok: 60% (Definitely a project, but he was a major player who's sat)

Mk5

Li Mei: 60% (I agree with Queve, my gut tells me that she sits out MK7)
Bo Rai Cho: 50% (Again, I agree with Queve on this one)
Sareena: 90% (Too many want her back, I think she'll return)
Kenshi: 65% (He's been in the last two, that usually indicates a sit)
Mavado: 65% (Could be the return of the Red Dragon, but I doubt it)
Blaze: 5% (A joke character for MK fans, he was a waste before)
Drahmin: 30% (No one really took to him, I doubt we'll see him for a while)
Mokap: 5% (same as Blaze)
Frost: 65% (Definitely possible, but I doubt she'll be in if Sub's in again)
Hsu Hao: 25% (No one really liked him, he's somewhat hated)
Nitara: 80% (People dug the vampire, if not her, we'll see another Vamp)
Moloch: 10% (Outside of Goro, sub-bosses don't have a rep for returning)

Mk6

Ashrah: 75% (I dug her, and she's in Noob's plot, so it's possible)
Dairou: 40% (Not a big fan base at all, I think the MK team lets him sit)
Kobra: 50% (Too many fans likened him to Ken, not a good sign)
Havik: 70% (Highly probable, though I personally hated his moves & story)
Kira: 75% (I think they'll make her their MK7 project, give her the goods)
Darrius: 70% (Some didn't take to the Chaos vs Order theme)
Hotaru: 60% (Limited moves plus undesirable plot, he sits)
Shujinko: 40% (The cruel joke of MK:D, he could've been great...)
Onaga: 20% (He could be a sub boss, but my guess is he's just story)

So based on my percentages, and assuming perhaps 6 to 8 new characters, the game would have:

Scorpion: 100%
Young Sub-Zero: 100%
Sektor: 95%
Sub-Zero/Noob-Saibot: 95%
Kung Lao: 95%
Sonya: 90%
Shao Kahn: 90%
Ermac: 90%
Sareena: 90%
Rayden: 90%
Smoke: 85%
Nitara: 80%
Fujin: 80%
Rain: 80%
Kabal: 80%
Mileena: 75%
Ashrah: 75%
Baraka: 75% (Plus 8 new characters)
Kai: 75% (Plus 7 new characters)
Kira: 75% (Plus 6 new characters)

Mind you this is all who I think will be in the next game, not necessarily who I want.

By the looks of it, there are a whopping SIX former pallette swap ninjas in there. Well, they were able to get creative with Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Ermac, Smoke, and Noob in the last one, I'd be curious to see what they'll do with these guys if Rain returns as well.

Each MK character's chances of a comeback, for both the next game and the long term of MK, in my opinion.

I'm going to assume that Mokap, Meat, Chameleon (male in PS), and the MKT "classic" Sub Zero (who is not the MK1 Sub Zero/Noob) do not count, as they were non canon extras.

Certain.

Scorpion- Most popular character, and Boon's favourite.
Sub Zero- Most popular along with Scorpion, plus he's had a lot of build up over recent games.
Raiden- Another MK icon. And the Dark Raiden plot has a lot of potential.

Very Likely.

Liu Kang- Sadly. It looks like he's here to stay again.
Sonya- Boon confirmed she'd be back for more, and is an MK veteran.
Johnny Cage- Love him or hate him, he's an MK veteran who lightens the dark mood.
Kitana- Too important and well loved to not come back for more. Quite literally MK royalty.
Kung Lao- Another veteran hero, and one of the most popular characters.
Reptile- He's made his mark somehow in every part of MK's storyline, and evolved a lot.
Noob- Come on, we've just found out who he really is. There's no way he isn't gonna return.
Quan Chi- Has now been built up to become one of MK's main villains, and it doesn't look like he's done yet.
Goro- He's a recognisable MK trademark, and the only sub boss to really come back for more.
Shao Kahn- Arguably MK's best villain. Even after "killing" him in MKDA, they hinted he'd return.
Ermac- MK's most improved character, and had a lot of build up in MKD.

Likely.

Ashrah- MKD's most popular newcomer. Will at least be in the next game.
Baraka- A fan favourite, but he's been more in and out than others.
Mileena- Like Baraka, a well liked character who comes and goes.
Jax- Boon seems to like him, but many of us don't.
Kenshi- MKDA's most popular newcomer. May miss a game, but he'll be around for the long term.
Li Mei- Defied the odds and came back to MKD. She's got more popular, and still has potential.
Kano- In and out of MK quite a lot, I think this MK classic will return one day.
Mavado- Connected deeply to many characters, and Boon said that he liked him.
Jade- I think she's here to stay. Popular, and was chosen for the stupid "sexiest game babes" contest thingie.
Bo Rai Cho- Unfortunately, the MK team seem to find him funny.
Shang Tsung- An MK veteran and classic villain. But without morphs, he isn't the same.
Nitara- Reasonably popular, and MKDA hints that the sexy vampire ain't finished yet.
Havik- After Ashrah, another popular MK newbie, with more potential, imo.

Fifty Fifty.

Smoke- Popular with fans, but really needs to become his own character.
Sindel- I think it's more likely Kitana comes back and Sindel sits out.
Kabal- His MKD comeback was considered weak. But the Black Dragon are important again.
Shujinko- Boon said he'd be the new hero. But fan response has been negative.
Kira- Black Dragon have a big role, and she's fairly popular for a newbie. Needs original moves
Frost- I like her, but MK fans are divided on her. Would need different moves to Sub Zero.
Hotaru- Killed in two endings, but enough people seem to like him for a comeback chance.
Fujin- Imo boring, but enough people have been calling for his return.
Cyrax- Many found him disappointing in MKDA, but he's become a veteran.
Sektor- Was announced for MKD, and had storyline build up in MKTE.
Kai- Was going to make it for MKDA at one stage, we could see Kai again.
Sareena- Like Sektor, she got new developments in MKTE, and enough people want her.
Onaga- Bosses don't have great survival records. But Onaga could be more than a one game wonder.

Unlikely.

Rain- Has his fans, but others see him as a pallete swap too far.
Sheeva- Dead, and never too popular anyway.
Nightwolf- Came back against the odds, but I don't think he did enough to make him a keeper.
Tanya- Served little real purpose with her comeback, except as Jade's whipping girl.
Drahmin- I like him, but not many other people do. Sadly.
Blaze- I think he was just a one off "rumour come true" creation.
Motaro- Sub bosses generally don't come back, and he wasn't as popular as Goro.
Dairou- Kinda lost in the crowd. Easy to see him just slipping away.
Darrius- Didn't make much impact, although I like him. Another who''ll probably drift away.

Very Unlikely.

Stryker- One of my favourites, but most MK fans despise the riot cop.
Kintaro- I think Boon admitted that he doesn't like this guy.
Reiko- Unpopular within the MK team, and I don't think they'll risk any more controversy.
Jarek- Was just Kano Junior really. Will probably stay dead for good.
Shinnok- Most people saw him as a joke in MK4/MKG. Bye bye.
Hsu Hao- I like him, but everything about him screamed "cannon fodder".
Kobra- The next Hsu Hao, another who has "dead meat" written all over him.
Moloch- Least popular sub boss, and they don't have great comeback records anyway.
Khameleon- Has a small scrap of storyline, but it's hard to tell if she's even canon.
