I dont know if this has already beed posted, but who thinks they will bring back rain for one more go. I mean he's almost like ermac, even though they were created at the same time.

I would like to see him come back with a different look, like they did with ermac, and some new moves, cause that water blast thing, was..... dumb.

what do you guys think

I agree. Rain would be good if he didn't look or play like Rain.

Oh wait...

If he were to return, he and tanya should work together. I mean, they are both pretty much traitors to Edenia right?

In his MKT ending, Rain actually turned against Kahn, back to the good guys. he then got his arse kicked in a failed suicide attack on Kahn, so for now at least, he's most likely dead.

Rain should only come back IF they can give him an amazing revamp like Ermac and a few others got in MKD. If not, leave him in the past, where Tanya should have stayed.

In trilogy it never said he died! It said that he "But his allegience comes under question when he mysteriously disappears during an extermination squad attack. To prove his loyalty he embarked on a suicide mission to destroy Shao Kahn and his menace once and for all." (From: Mk trilogy Rain's Bio). His ending never said anything about him dying, it just said that he was never found after the Mission.wink

To answer the question at hand tho I would say of course Rain should be brought back because he was one of the hardest(coolest)glasses characters on MK trilogy.

As for his costome, he should still have his Purple Mask and Purple Color and he obviously would get his own defining look ffs, its PS2 or 3.grin
He should still have his lightning bolt attack too with the same effect.

The exact words of our friend Rain's ending are as follows:

Rain fights valiantly for the emperor Shao Kahn, but it would be Kahn's own
step daughter, The Princess Kitana who turns Rain against him. Like Kitana, Rain's origins also come from their former realm of Edenia. He learns that his father was once a general in Edenia's army and died at the hands of Shao Kahn himself. Enraged at the truth about his history, he joins Kitana in aligning with the Earth Realm Warriors. But his allegiance comes under question when he mysteriously disappears during an extermination squad attack. To prove his loyalty he embarked on a suicide mission to destroy Shao Kahn and end the menace once and for all.

I beleive the words "suicide mission", added to the fact that it was most likely Liu Kang who defeated Kahn, tell us enough about Rain's final fate. And since there has been nothing on Rain since, nothing to to contradict this, I think that the Prince tribute is in the MK graveyard with other expendable filler characters like Jarek and Hsu Hao.

But then, we all know that MK land doesn't follow logical rules of life and death, so there is no reason why we might not see Rain again one day.

Rain started off evil, his bio tells us he joined Kahn and betrayed Edenia to save his own skin. It was Kitana, during the Earth invasion who made him have his change of heart and attack Kahn. And since this failed, and there's been nothing else so far on Rain, until further notice, I think he's best considered dead. I wouldn't rule out seeing him in a future MK again, but I think it's 50/50 at best, he seems to a disposable character kinda like Jarek.

They could bring him back. Just because he went on a suicide mission doesn't mean he got their before liu did.

he probably hasnt even fought kahn yet becuase i bet hes training somewhere he probably is smart enough to realize that kahn is a great warrior and will definetly kill him if he fought him so he might be in training waiting to get his shot at kahn but that would make a good story and make him more powerful if all these years he was just training instead of fighting kahn right away

I like that idea! It makes a lot of sence and would really make the MK storyline even more interesting.

You know, Boon and company might probably do to Rain what they did to Kabal, and that is to keep him evil. Although I don't want that to happen, it's still a possibility because chances are that Kitana probably didn't have the chance to tell Rain the truth about his past as yet. Hopefully he will be a good guy like Ermac, and maybe he might help some one else in the game to overcome some obstacle in the MK7 story. That person should very well be Tanya as both share some similarities.

PS In the other Rain thread called "What happen to Rain", I wrote something that might seem either interesting or strange to some of you Rain and Tanya fans. It would probably leave you like confused or wow

I think that people are doing alot of inferring about Rain's fate at the end of Trilogy and it's open ended enough to mean that he could be brought back whenever or never. Just because he went on a suicide mission it doesn't mean the he actually fought Khan and lost. At least, I haven't come across anything that comes out and says that Rain fought, lost and died. If fans want him back enough, he'll be back.

Personally, if he did come back, he'd need major work. All he has right now is his name and the color purple. They should NOT bring him back as a ninja. There are far too many ninjas even with revamped looks. If he's from Edenia, he should look more like his home realm and less like a ninja. If I had my choice, I'd say a full blown samauri look would be cool. Give him back his lightning (though make it look a little better) and give him enough new and unique moves to make him fun to play. Oh yeah, and don't just take the Jade approach and make him a background character. I like Jade, but she's never really a character you care about. Give him a good, solid story if you're going to bring him back.

I couldnt disagree with you more! Rain should be brought back as a ninja. I would rather him not come back at all then for him to come back looking 50% different. Once a NINJA always a ninja!glasses

Alright I am a little confused then...because in Konquest, Rain was clearly an enemy of Jade..a ninja still working for Shao Kahn..and these were after the events in Trilogy, were they not?

For heavens sake, NO! The ninjas are outdated, and we certainly don't need another ninja. People have to separate the fact that he is ment to be a masked warrior, but definitely not a stealth assassin.

No more palette swaps and stick to the old failing tradition.

Skaven13 this comment is almost not worth saying anymore....sigh*

Konquest is a bunch of Crap!!!!!!!! you cant go by the events in konquest because it throws almost everything off and is just as reliable as MK2 the movie. lol anyways back on topic

Yes rain should be brought back...its for sure that in his bio he decided to join edenia and fight khan on a suicide mission...whats not clear is what he did after that...and to clear things up rain did not join khan when confronted with an extermination squad this is how it it:

Rain was kidnapped as a child raised under khan and fought for him. Found out about his true identity and sided with Kitana to avenge his father who was killed by Khan. When he was confronted by an extermination squad he mysteriously disappeared....where to it never said in his bio. My guess is he ran but didnt join khan because when he resurfaced he was so determined to prove he was on Edenias side that he vowed his suicide mission to prove his alliegence...

I agree that rain would need some tuning up when he comes back and i hope he comes back to inherit his fathers position as General of the Edenia Army seeking revenge on khan for a lifetime of deception by making him betray his home realm and murdering his father.

As for his appearance i would like to see him incorporated into a samurai type look. I dont know what the Edenian army generals wear but what more prestigous status for a warrior than that of a samurai? And since MK uses some Japanese features i.e. hara kiri and various other things i think a samurai feel would be perfect for Rain. His style of course Bushido and maybe another. My only problem with this is that samurai's use Kitana's and i would like not to see another long sword....Yawn.....Scorpion has 2, kenshi has 1 and thou they might not be kitanas they are still visually similar when playing.

Rain to me at first was a joke character that was included in Trilogy as a little treat for the fans. I did not expect to see Rain taken so seriously by the fans, but hey he does seem pretty popular around this website. Since the release of Deadly Alliance people had been begging for Rain to return.

Although in terms of looks and of him being another pallete swap, Rain's story did intruigue me. Rain was a character torn between Edenia and Outworld. Also when I heard that Rain defected against Shao Kahn in favor of Kitana it left me thinking, mabey Rain in his past was a coward but he is on the road to redemption.

After Deception, Edenia was pretty much laid to shit thanks again to the evil deceptive bitch Tanya (I bet Tanya fans are smirking at that comment.) Kitana is out of commision and is probably taking refuge in Earthrealm with Liu Kang and her companions that shared the same fate as her the day they attacked the Deadly Alliance. Sindel and Jade are out somewhere, it is not known where they ended up at the end of Deception. And the biggest problem is that Edenia's army is following Mileena in combat believing that she is Kitana.

What better time for Rain to return and have his fair share of the chaos? There is so many directions that this character could go, and Ed Boon seems like the developer who wants to please his fans so if I were him I'd expand on the whole Mileena thing and have Rain learn the truth of her real identity. Rain could be in question by us on what side he will take, just like in Trilogy. Rain could either side again with the bad side, or would become a hero by fighting against Mileena and swaying Edenia's troops.

Yes Rain should defintely come back to the game because he was an important character, he should come back in his trademark color and a bit more stronger looking costume,he should also come in with his own fighting styles(not copied from any other past characters in MKDA and MKD)

And a good storyline for why he was gone for so long, like (being captured and finnaly escaping, training for the fight against Shao Khan, or being dead and now ressurected)furiousfurious
