True enough, The world don't move to the beat of just one drum.

"Certainly more memorable and exciting"
Nah, we're going to have to disagree there. Wasn't feeling it at all.

I would argue that Deadly Alliance very nearly achieves that same effect you're talking about in MK3 for me..

I think there are good parts to these stage tracks that hearken back to those times. But I will admit there's a problem with my side..Notice how I said Round 1/Round 2?

That's because the good parts of each stage are then swept to the side a round later once the music changes. THEN it gets to be too ambient, I get why they would do that but it's not something I agree with.

My main point is it still kicks the shit out of MK9 where I found myself switching to retro tracks when I could and wishing I could when I couldn't. The remixes were ok at the time but they're still remixes which don't hold a candle to the original.

The guitar heavy Character Select for 9 was so terrible and while we're on that let's be real here; MKX has no character select theme. That legit bugs me.

The whole argument is based on personal taste anyway. What might be right for you may not be right for some.

Sorry fam. I just think its on par with MK9 in terms of music. Very forgetful stuff imo. I will give it to I think the destroyed city stage. That's got some rockin' music, but other than that I got nothin'. If you asked me to hum a tune in that game I would be stumped as hell.

The "beyond delusional" part was referred to the game improvements. They are many and visible.
Oh, Kung Jin himself denies he is part of the special forces during one of his intro dialogues with Sonya.

I think I extrapolated several parts of this one? I don't agree with you, but I explained why I don't. I also didn't say anything negative about your views.

Kung Jin can say he isn't apart of SF all he wants. NRS can say they have great writers as well. He was brought in with, fought along side, and never went against SF. Sorry NRS is not good at storytelling. If he wasn't meant to be lumped in then perhaps he shouldn't have been....
I agree the music is too ambient. Sounds like war movie bgm or soft credit roll.

Destroyed City has some nice guitar, but I can't recall the tune. MK Battleplan & character select, and most MKII & 3 music is burned into my memory. Chamber of Artifacts, Hells Foundry Dark Prison, and Armageddon's Hell also easily come to mind.

First it's too many ninjas, now apparently there's not enough ninjas.

Complaints are all over the place with MK.

MK team wanted to clean the slate, and bring in new characters since Deadly Alliance.
We all complain our favs are missing. While some hate the newcomers. Then other folks complain the newcomers went missing.

2 or 3 is too many Special Forces to some. Not to mention half the characters they mean are civilians...

The kids suck, bring on the fighting grandpas!

Characters should stay dead, but where's my fucking favorites? Bring them back to life!!

Yup
I was playing the Survival Tower the other night, trying to unlock Mileena's costume, and I got kicked during a match. Is that because of this net code issue?

Beat the Jason Tower with no problems though.

Oh hey MKO. What's good around here these days?

MKX needs a more "diverse" roster? The roster would be better "balanced" with more ninjas, cyborgs, and gods? You're considering dropping the game?

Cool. Nice catching up with ya MKO.

---

With that out of the way, the only true complaint I can throw at the game is the netcode. That's one huge complaint, mind you. A PvP based game that cant do PvP well in the most popular (by a landslide) way to play? Bummer, man. Bummer.

If there was anything I was dissatisfied with beyond that, it would be Fujin's exclusion. On the other hand, MKX gave me no fewer than FOUR new favorite characters. That's never happened before.

MKX is easily the best, most sophisticated gameplay-wise MK ever. Is it my favorite? No. Is it the best? Definitely.

Just fix the clone cylinder's issues and get rid of all the more-than-50/50s.

A very reasonable person. Glad to know there are other users like me.
The storyline jumped the shark from armageddon onwards and the roster was...polarizing (special forces kids lol ) but the gameplay and game itself has never been better.

Mortal Kombat is as popular and mainstream as it has ever been but that comes at a cost, Have you seen all the MKX facebook group posts 99% of those lead me to believe that alot of the fanbase now are the lowest common denominator. But at least that means there will always be a MK franchise and games due to the popularity its just that the MK game that appeals to the mainstream might not be what us hardcore fans from the past (trilogy era and 3d era) picture as our type of MK game at least not exactly.

The Special Forces Kid's Klub strikes me as MK's version of the Avengers. While they are backed by the Special Forces, I don't see characters like Takeda and Jin being any more Special Forces than Iron Man and Thor are agents of Shield. The Special Forces is more like a host for the group.

That is until the Black Dragon or Tekunin or something infiltrates and secretly takes over the Special Forces and the MK Avengers have to destroy the Special Forces and rebuild from scratch. Hail Hydra.

Just up you moron!
Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
just kidding here

Kung Jin a special forces agent. He has an uniform, his gameplay is identical to Jax and Sonya, he uses lasers and firearms, after he didn't follow Cassie's orders he went a trial by the marshal court, it doen't matter if he denies to be special forces and actually he is a White Lotus.

If I say that he is Special Forces, then he is special forces. C'mon, he even goes on the same plane of Cassie, that's a proof!

We're lucky to still have MK, yes, but it's clearly evident MK will always have its issues. I don't think we will ever get a game that the majority of the fanbase can call it close to perfect. I just don't see it happening so there's always going to be complaints. The team likes to walk the line between normality and ground-breaking for the franchise too often, imo. They rarely want to do anything outside of their comfort zone, especially when it comes to certain things and that honestly needs to change if they want to continue keeping this series fresh.

Just my two cents.

Just like any long running series, MK thrives on the "unfulfilled potential" that is defined differently by the different groups in the fan base. Coming with a perfect MK game is impossible, but more than that coming with what the fans consider to be the best game is also semi impossible.D espite the popular believe that MK2 is the best, I am sure I have seen many giving that to MK1,UMK3,DA,D,9 and I am sure MKX will start getting that when future titles hit and deviate away from X's points of strength.

Another thing is that, MK as a series gains a lot of its feats based on the 90s pop culture and our childhoods. It thrived perhaps too WELL on that. Arcades, secret fights, school weekends, rumors, family gatherings ...etc. Most of that is no longer relevant and even if implemented today (MK9's secret fights) it just won't be what it used to be, because we are older and because coder will hack data and reveal everything pre-release.

MK2's background were MARVELOUS in 95 to the 4 years old that's me and they still look awesome and that's isn't because they are Da Vinci's level of awesome, but because they were TOO awesome to me as a child, because of the wonderful stories I had for them back in the day and because of the stories I told Mom about em.

It's a great thing that MK still sells... err it's incredible that it is still around, but be prepared to see things you don't appreciate with every new release ..LOL MKX's level of sloppy music again ?

At some point, Boon/many others will leave the series and pursue other things in life and the whole thing will be handled by a different creative input, new fans will land on the ship, maybe a similar number will abandon the ship and then who knows, maybe MKA will switch to section "Legendary" in your book or you might enjoy the new destination even more.

You are right, but I see the matter on a different perspective.
You can say all you want, you liked MK X, you disliked it, you're indifferent to it, etc.
These are opinions, based on personal ideas, assumptions and most importantly tastes.
Opinions are not facts. Unfortunately many of the users still don't get the difference.

A fact is that MK X's graphics is great. There are many other games with better graphics and maybe Ed Boon and the others lacked balls to use UE4, so they played safe and still had faith in UE3. But the aftermath is lavish and astonishing nonetheless. There's no fighting game with better graphics. Not even Killer Instinct.
And MK X has more realistic looking characters, with great animations, sweat on the skin, realistic damage effects and most of all, realistic anatomic proportions. It's almost photorealistic. The characters no longer look like action figures.

The gameplay is simply awesome. Mk finally gained the respect of the competitive scene. It's not Virtua Fighter of course, but it doesn't suck.

The music might not be good like the past game, but you have improved voice acting, even mid-fight. Cool cound effects. The stages seem to take life in every moment.

The story is great not for the plot itself, but because it gives lightspots to all those underrated characters that deserved a chance: Johnny Cage and Jax have never been so awesome, Tanya is worth something, Tremor finally exists, Shinnok is redeemed, Sareena has never been so anticipated for the next game. Ditto for Fujin.

The simple fact that a lot of people are still craving for a season 2 and Fujin is self-explanatory.
We have a comic book series, a likely second one incoming, a web-series in the workings and a strong competitive scene.

Again, there's no reason to be worried.
The MK franchise has never been stronger, not even in the early '90s.
It's a good time to be a MK fan, let's enjoy the moment, hoping we won't get another 1997-2000 age. And personally, I wasn't a happy mk fan in the 2006-2008 years neither.
