Suggestions for NR regarding KP2

posted11/09/2015 05:07 AM (UTC)byWhy not have the new fighters appear in the premier towers as a secret fight? The new background could appear as well. This would encourage people to come back to the game. Everyone would want to be first to report on who the fighter is and what they do. This way the fans are partly responsible for the hype and will be more tempted to buy it.
In addition, I wish they would create an offline option for Premier Themed towers like MK1, Mk2, etc with the classic costumes and secret fights. I know Shang Tsung seems set for the next installment; however, I would accept an NPC version of him or a Shang Tsung skin on Shinock Imposter. Not going to happen, I know - wishful thinking.
If only one more background is being created, perhaps have more variations on the current ones like the red infected levels. Just let us toggle different colors or revamps the current ones for night, day, rain, snow.
Finally, can I store my faction Kills? If I switch factions then come back, do I really have to unlock all of them all over again, especially the fifth where I have to depend on the community to unlock it?
NetherRealm! Hear thee!

I think they won't put the KP2 characters as secret fights because they're not ready yet... And with the release date being 2016, its very unlikely they'll show them this early. I say december, idk. But yeah would be nice if one or two were like Invasion Boss or a Themed Tower Boss before release just to build hype.

So I'm going to play a card a lot of people do play here, except i'm telling the truth.
I used to work at Blizzard Entertainment, and had the opportunity to go to Blizzcon in 2011 while I was working there. I met a few folks there from the Irvine office (I worked in the Austin office), one of which was a junior developer that I kept in touch with.
As it turns out, this same junior developer took a job at NRS shortly before MKX launched. No, I will not name names. No, I will not give out contact info. He told me about it once he got there (we are both huge MK fans) but I did not pry - I did not want ANY info on the game at the time.
I spoke to him this past Thursday while we were tearing shit up in D3 about MKX. He told me the following:
* development of the new characters is coming along nicely - one character is already complete, the other 2 are ahead of schedule. The 4th is still around the 30% complete range.
* After they are complete, testing will take several weeks before all characters are considered ready for launch.
* He did NOT confirm a timeframe, but he said the target is Q1 2016, and it will "definitely be BEFORE the 1 year mark for the game"
* When I asked about a "Komplete Edition", he said he couldn't talk about it, but that if "theoretically" one did emerge, it would likely launch with KP1 + KP2 characters included (in other words yes, expect a "komplete edition")
* we will definitely see extras thrown in - it's not just 4 new characters being released (he didn't elaborate - I assume he means more outfits and hidden brutalities)
* NRS currently plans on making an announcement in December regarding KP2, but possibly as early as Thanksgiving week.
* He confirmed "most people will be happy with the announcement"
* He did NOT confirm whether or not the story mode characters were part of it - he played coy when I asked him if they would be released in addition to the KP2 characters, so take that as meaning either they ARE the characters in KP2, or they will also be released with KP2
It's all cryptic info, but I don't think for a second he was lying to me. This is the same person that confirmed to me that a Legion based expansion would follow a Draenor revamp expansion, and would be coming to WoW within the next 5 years. That was in 2011. Lo and Behold, "Legion" launches in 2016, which was preceded by Warlords of Draenor in 2014.

Both of these are fantastic ideas. I would be beyond hyped if they did something like this. Themed towers will probably never happen tho. Having the new DLC be secret fights is genius. It would be like trying to find the secret fights in the old arcade days but with the much cooler pay off of eventually playing as the character.

Interesting. That "most people will be happy with the announcement" bit is definitely a hint toward the story mode characters, as I see it.
If they implemented 4 other characters, and still left Sindel, Rain, and Baraka as fightable NPCs, I could see a lot of people upset about not getting what they believe they're due.
And, to be honest, I don't see a particularly large amount of requests for any specific character on social media. Fujin and Rain are pretty much the leading standouts. Everyone else seems to have sporadic requests that aren't nearly as frequent.

That's what I thought (story mode characters).
Again, I don't think he would lie to me or give me false info. He always gave me "inside" info at Blizzard when we both worked there, but I think he's being a bit more careful now that we aren't co-workers anymore. I don't blame him. He was definitely less transparent with the info.
Overall my conversation with him got me a little more excited for KP2. I'm curious to see what, if any of this, may come to pass.

Ugh, ffs. I suppose it's no worse than anyone else randomly posting stuff that supposedly came from a dev. This is exactly why I don't mention names.

Probably for the best - Dynasty generally does those videos for click bait.
Frabn - I'm curious; Do you think you could ask your pal if he's heard anything about our Kombatpedia project?
Outside of that - I don't doubt that info. Actually kind of amped about it.

Thanks dude. Slow on our news front - so anything, and I mean anything helps.

I haven't heard anything new, but Ed's starting to tease KP2 announcements, as well as new outfits for the new characters. Looks like that Thanksgiving week info may have been accurate...possibly even sooner though.
