Sure don't take it serious now. For MK which is a game about pushing limits, it's shocking that they're taking steps in this direction.

I'm overreacting because I live in a country where every damn thing is censored. This sort of thing may seem trivial now to most of you but that's how this shit started where I'm from. here shows like game of thrones and Spartacus have no nudity shown. Even kissing is not allowed.

Slippery slope arguments are not good arguments. If a revealing design fits the character conceptually then it's a successful design. Mileena for example is a manipulative, deceptive, femme fatale. It makes sense that she'd utilize her physical assets seductively. The same can't be said for a serious, no-nonsense SF operator like Sonya. Sonya's MK9 design was poor because it was made strictly to show her ass and tits, not to compliment her personality nor her occupation. Her design in the comics by contrast actually fits her and makes sense for who she is and what she does.

That's the question. Does the outfit work for the character conceptually or are you purely going for fanservice? NRS's character design artists are obviously going for better conceptual designs that fit within the context of the character. There is still plenty of fanservicey elements in this game like D'Vorrah's primary for example.

MK isn't a beauty contest, it's a fighting tournament. Why should the level of sex appeal matter?
