Basically, the only way MK will end if suddenly Scorpion explodes sending massive chunks of his fiery flesh onto Earthrealm killing Liu Kang (again) Kung Lao, Kabal, Kitana, Sub-Zero, and all the characters of the world and the only person left to exist would be Stryker.

When a fighting game that not only has blood, but deep gameplay comes along and people stop buying MK and turn to the alternative. About 5 years i'd say.

i think it was called dallas. i saw it get made fun of in family guys "da boom" episode. back on subject (i coulda sworn i responded to this yesterday) i think mk will last only if they start killing off all the old charecters, at least after mk8. even then, it probobly wont leave the next gen consoles.

All I know is that Mortal Kombat will definatley be making another Mortal Kombat game. I don't see the series dying anytime soon.

I doubt MK will ever really 'end' and close itself up. If the series ever stops, it will still have loose ends, and the game will fade into obscurity with fans forever bickering over which endings were cannon in the final game. The only way i see them stoping the series is if its popularity dies, and noone buys the games.

It won't. It may disappear for 10 years and then it'll come out of the blue and be back on top.

Canon means a character's ending actually happens. A lot of endings don't actually happen, so they are non-canon.
