Was that ever actually canon? I remember that being in the MKGold strategy guide by BradyGames. IIRC most of the "new content" in MKGold wasn't ever really considered canon except for Cyrax stealing Smoke's MK3 story.

Now that MK takes itself more seriously, I would hope that an exceptionally brutal ending, such as the one he experienced at D'Vorah's hands, would remain his fate. A good send off to a classic character.

Even if they do include him in the DLC, him being playable doesn't necessarily mean his fate in story mode isn't true. We have non-revenant versions of characters who are dead in MKX, characters who have no impact on the story whatsoever, or in the case of Goro, don't appear in it at all, occupying primary roster slots.

Again, I hold to the idea that waiting until well into 2016 just for revamped/rebuilt versions of the story mode NPCs would ultimately be underwhelming.

I don't think it'll just be the story mode NPCs, but I do think Sindel and Baraka will be in the pack. The other two will be new (probably Fujin and BRC, if the silhouettes are accurate).

And no, Kung Lao splitting Baraka in half was never canon. You remember correctly. It was an unused idea that they scrapped -- canon became that Kung Lao sliced him up pretty bad, hence the staples.

I still can't see the resemblance between Sindel's new render and the silhouette. That silhouette is very wide. Almost masculine. Probably overanalyzing, but who knows I guess. Could very well be placeholders, but something tells be they're not. I'd just assume that if they were in fact placeholders that they'd be as generic as possible and there are quite a bit of details in there. Even for silhouettes.

I believe they were intended to lead us in a certain direction. As for Baraka and his design, if they wanna release a Deception skin pack with one of the characters (or separately like Cold War/Brazil) that includes Deception Baraka (along with Shred-Zero and Tanya) then they can leave him just like he is and I'll be completely satisfied. I must admit though, even if I'd personally choose other characters for the pack, Baraka is the one character who's brutalities I'd be most excited for. And that hype extends back pre-release.

Probably gonna end up being Baraka, Rain, Sindel & Bo Rai Cho. Fujin will come on his own hopefully or swap him out for Rain and then Rain gets in as a freebie somehow.

Rain will probably be left out of the pack initially if I were a betting man. I'd imagine he'd probably be given out after the pack is concluded, if he comes at all, as like a thank you to fans.

My theory for this is when we get The Pit, it's likely to go into the Random Select spot of the arena select screen. Rain would likely take the Random Select spot on the character select screen. It makes sense, especially if they use 3 out of the 4 of the Story Mode NPC's. Leaving just one out seems kinda pointless, lazy and a slap in the face of the huge amount of fans requesting Rain.

I won't be too upset though. If he's free? Or released separately later on? Then hallelujah! If not, that's alright. Dead horse, but, as long as Fujin makes it in one way or another I'll be right as...Rain.

Fujin is not missing out. Wouldn't it be kind of stupid to release a pack with Rain, Baraka, Sindel and Bo Rai Cho? You'd know NRS must hate Fujin if they'd have Bo claim a spot before him lmao.

Nah it'll most likely be - Baraka, Sindel, Fujin AND Bo Rai Cho with Rain as a free add on later because it would be pointless to leave Rain unplayable when every other former fightable NPC(Tanya, Baraka and Sindel) have become playable

I'd also think programming Fujin would actually be fun for NRS. It's new(ish) territory and they could stretch his abilities even further with the variation system.

And yeah, if for some god awful reason that Fujin doesn't make it, I'll be totally convinced they hate him...and their fans lol. Considering he's top 3, most likely number one, most requested.

I just can't forsee them ever giving a free character away. I want Rain in and I'm actually happy to pay for him. The post DLC roster won't feel complete without him in though.

I could see that. I could also see him maybe just being sold at a discounted price if you bought both packs. That could slide as well.

I know your pain brother. If Sindel, Baraka, Fujin, Bo, and Rain all do become DLC- then Li Mei would be the only big story mode NPC left that I'd want to see. Sareena/Frost would be two other great choices but I believe Li Mei might would beat them both out for a spot.

Add in Li Mei in addition to the others and the MKX roster would finally feel somewhat complete to me. MKX would be the first game where DLC completely saved the roster.

I'd be down for that. I'd also venture to pay full retail ($4.99) for him if he came with two skin packs or a skin pack and klassic fatality pack.

Aw who am I kidding? Even if it's just Rain, I'll still pay full price lol. v.v

Especially when you think of all the work that goes into these characters, Rain will need custom intros with every other character, two fatalities, three different variations, win pose, X-ray, and brutalities.

A lot of work. But they could still make everyone(including their pockets) happy. Here are three ways they can go about it-

1) Have Rain be free for those who buy Kombat Pack 2(or bought both packs)- he would however also be sold separately for a price for those who do not own the Kombat Pack 2.

2) Release Rain to everyone for a price BUT have there be a way that everyone could unlock him for FREE in the game in some exclusive hard as hell tower. This could also be a limited tower that lasts for a few days every so often.

3) Put Rain as a character in a future "Komplete Edition", that alone might help sell copies.

So there's several ways NRS could sorta keep to their word about not charging for the same DLC twice while also still padding their pockets like sneaky foxes lol..Though knowing them it wouldn't surprised me if they simply didn't care and released him full price either way lmao. Those who'd buy Rain again will buy him and those who won't, won't is how they may see it.

It's already a sin that Fujin didn't make it into the default roster and another sin that he wasn't amongst the first DLC released- it should've been Tanya and Fujin in pack 1, that would've made better sense than Tanya and "Outta left field" Tremor(who is pretty badass I'll admit).

If Fujin is not DLC then Boon's twitter will probably be torpedoed by angry fans and I honestly don't blame them. We've been waiting what? Since MK4 for Fujin to return? He should've been in Deadly Alliance but was axed, he sure as hell should've been in Deception what with Raiden going "off the rails"- yet wasn't, Was one of the most requested names for MK9 DLC(aside from Rain of course) but didn't make it, and now didn't make it in the roster for a game that is based on the events of the game he originally debuted in and now we're praying and hoping for him to at least make DLC.

So what has Fujin exactly done in the past 18 years since MK4 besides run up a damn pyramid?

If Rain is a Komplete Edition exclusive it would completely fuck over people like me who have purchased all the DLC, only to have to buy a brand new game just for one extra character? WB is cheap but not this cheap. If he's in the Komplete Edition, he'll be available for DLC aswell.

I'd be one of those people being "fucked over" as well. IF they go that route (don't underestimate WB bruh) then I'd doubt it would just be Rain as an incentive. Exclusive skins, an additional arena, another character are all possibilities as well. I plan on buying the KE anyways because the kollector in me just won't be satisfied until it's with the rest of my MKs between those sexy bookends. Also, new box art ftw.

Well, a Komplete Edition getting extra characters would be fine with me, since I don't buy DLC anyway. I got the Komplete Edition of MK9, the Gold Edition of Resident Evil 5, and I'm planning to get Injustice's Ultimate Edition at some point.

Downloadable content's not a bad concept, but when a console's online support ends, will you still own the DLC you bought? Because if that were the case, then DLC would be worth buying. But if not, screw that. Extra content's not that important to me.
